Yes I'm very aware of them but do you seem how illogical they are? Over $500 a tire and you can use them for maybe 5 miles of use. That's not realistic at all that's just dumb.

This thread is disappointing - two videos which show neither car reaching top speed (you can hear that from the engine notes which are changing).

 

If you steer, you slow down. So avoiding traffic, even if you don't hit it, prevents you reaching top speed.

Adder has a higher top speed, fact. The Z-Type is slightly slower and will reach it's top speed before the Adder max out.

Everyone seems to be missing the most important point about the Z-type... It looks like a snail and is too ugly to be worth driving, even if it was faster.

 

Like everyone has said, driving on the highway is not an accurate comparison. Plus your videos aren't "proof" of anything. For all we know you could've modded the Z-type out to max and done nothing to the Adder. When there's so much unknown and the test conditions so uncontrolled your videos constitute nothing more than hearsay.

 

FWIW I own an Adder, but rarely drive it. I don't own a Z-type, it's too ugly. And the Felon is the best car in the game.

The Adder is the fastest car in the game. It's not even arguable since the handling.dat file in the game proves it.

The airport runway isn't long enough for the Adder to reach top speed. Play a long highway race with traffic, catchup and slipstream off. The Adder has a very high top speed, but it takes a million years to get there. Granted though, I've never seen Adder vs Z Type, but I can, however, tell you that the airport runway is way too short for the Adder to reach top speed. Anybody got a look at the game files yet? What do they say about Adder vs Z Type?

Top speed means diddly squat in this game. On a highway in a straight line, ok the Z type may win with top speed. But race that adder though city streets or around corners. Or compare the lap times of Adder's and Z-types in races, the Z-Type will fall behind because it's acceleration isn't quite there and it's traction is horrible.

 

Top speed alone doesn't make the "fastest car", you have to account traction and acceleration as well.

Top speed = The fastest any given car will go on an endless straight line. It's true the the Adder isn't real good at racing. For racing, you need good acceleration. It doesn't have that. But on an endless straight line the Adder is the fastest car.

Both cars are maxed out and both us are over level 200+ so our driving skills are maxed out as well. You just saw two videos of a Z type smoking the adder and you still claim the opposite?

 

ive seen high levels without maxed out driving (shocking I know)

neway im just saying because a good friend of mine drives z type all the time and when we are driving to the same place, (mission start or way point) I always win in my adder

 

only way to know for sure is so see the game files of the two cars

In the video the Adder had enough time to catch up but it didn't. I tested the speed of both of these cars on the airport runway and ther adder won. But it can't win on a longer straight. I think it's time to admit that another car is faster than the Adder. But both are Truffade so.... Adder is the son and the Z type is the grandaddy.

I made a ~5mi long highway race (basically a straight line, no corners whatsoever), and tested all available stock vehicles solo (no start boost) in Super, Sports, and Sports Classics categories. Overall results for top 25 are as follows:

Half the hype over the adder was simplynits the most expensive and therefore must be the best.

 

Its the exact same reason so many people bought the 400k apartment at eclipse towers. Most expensive equals best.

I have both cars the Z type and the Adder, both cars fully maxed out and on one track i downloaded that is 12 miles long i always get the fastest time in my Z type by about 5-8 seconds driver error may account for some of the time but I have never been able to beat my Z types time

 

I know the Adder should walk off and leave the Z type or at least the numbers i get be reversed but they are not

So i will have to agree the Z Type might be the fastest

My highest speed is 193.68 in a Coquette. Since I've never owned a Coquette I guess that was in an unmodified one I stole; I suspect it was achieved during a flight caused by the gate glitch. Anything over the top speed stated in the game files has to have been achieved with outside influence, such as going downhill, falling from a plane or whatever.

For those of you morons who talk about lap times/better driver I am talking about TOP SPEED in a straight line. Evolution didn't really do a good job did it? Proof that God didn't design us.

Before you go calling others morons you might want to get all your facts straight. Top speed is limited in freeroam. Practically all the sports, supers and a few other select cars have the same top speed in freeroam. So it boils down to acceleration on the cars for those races. This was done in part to make impromptu races with multiple classes feasible among other reasons. An exemplar can keep pace with an entity on that freeway.

Why don't you make up a race on the highway near one of the gun stores. You can turn off traffic and you can maybe drive backwards a little to give the Z-type more room to reach top speed.

So a sports classic car can compete with a super in race? I thought you could only choose one class only?They dont have to be in the same race at the same time...and the speeds in a race will be different than in freeroam.

 

 

There are two reasons why the Z type didn't beat the Zentorno or the Adder.

 

1. Because the track was a straight but wasn't long enough for the Z type to hit top speed and exceed the speed of the Zentorno which does take about 20-30 seconds to do so.

 

or 2. Because the track had mostly turns and corners.

1 minute is more than enough time to hit top speed and beat whatever competition there is. Of course the track didn't have mostly turns and corners; it's a straight 1 min+ track. For extra measures, I stick to the left lane and center without viering off to the sides. Like I said before, when I test the same cars several times, there NEVER is a 1 second difference (only milliseconds). But to further prove my point, I tested the Z-Type again. This time I put tons of boosts in GTA Race to insure the Z-Type hits top speed very early. STILL, it didn't beat the Adder's time, and the Adder didn't even use boosts.

 

As for the results: The Z-Type got 1:07.787 with several boosts, and the Adder got 01:07.019 without boosts.

Once your at top speed the boosts do absolutely nothing and since you cant use them in the beggining of the race you only got a little bit of use out of the first one as you were close to top speed already and the rest were just making useless noise with no benefit.

All cars are capped to ~150mph, meaning all cars are technically the same top speed. If cars had the Single Player speed, the Adder would be the best car.

 

 

Also, the Bati is the fastest vehicle, it can bypass the speed cap and hit speeds over 180mph.

For those wondering about fully upgraded times, I've only done some, but the Zentorno moves to the top with 02:28:ish time, the Z-Type and Adder are dead even at 2nd with 02:32:ish. I may do more fully maxed cars as time/game cash permits. I already own 7 of top 10 cars, so I may just test them to see what kind of changes there are.

You'll feel a noticeable difference once you test the fm banshee. The turbo really makes a difference.
