What's your opinion on GTA YouTubers?

Unfortunately I think I read somewhere that technically R* owns ownership to the any footage taken in their games. This includes Images, sound and video and anything else to do with recording so that's probably why Mr DoucheFTW was able to take some of your clips. You don't technically own them so he doesn't need to ask. 

 

Yes asking would've been nice and the right thing to do but unfortunately if you don't own it, he doesn't have to ask.

Every now and then I search something and am pleasantly surprised so many players loaded up videos. 

 

Lots of low quality crap there. Kids stuttering tryna be an eloquent and entertaining commentator. 

 

However, some channels really cool.

OK guys, so I've been banished here to discuss that pathetic cretin MrBossFTW, after it was pointed out to me that he ripped off verbatim (and at length) one of my posts on Sunday night to make revenue-earning content for his ridiculous channel. 

 

I'm sure we're all tired of this vacuous, principle-free parasite, and of course I'm not the only one by far to get shamelessly plagiarized by him. Others seem to have had it much worse.

 

Also in general I don't mind if anyone recycles what I have say if it adds to discussion (and I'm not saying I'm anything special at all) but for MrBossFTW to use it to make money and to pass it off as his own work really crosses a line. 

 

So, any thoughts on realistic and legitimate ways to finally get this guy's YouTube channel the strikes that I believe that he more than deserves?

I feel like there's a way to report him if he plagiarized you but idk I haven't reported anything on youtube in a decade so things could've changed

I can be mistaken, but from my experience not many forum posts can be categorized as "work". For example, opinion is not work. Research is.

2) Create your own GTA resource and DEFINE specific rules every single member should accept prior reading the content - on how third-parties should use the information.

2) Use colorful text in your GTA posts, post pictures of kids, kid celebrities and kid toys, so your future posts wouldn't be appealing to use for Youtubers because of the potential COPPA-violation.

Yep, fair points. I'm not calling what I wrote 'work' or ascribing any special or valued status to it. Like most of my posts it was just a quick, throwaway and not particularly well-composed series of thoughts that I had about something that was hopefully relevant at the time. 

 

The thing that really annoyed me was to see him shamelessly plagiarize it, to use it as his own and then presumably profit from it. I have no interest whatsoever in my profile, that's not why I'm here - I don't even want named credit if people use what I say. The point is, he could and should have mentioned that the core of his video was, word-for-word, not his. Although of course if he were to do so then that would make his pathetic videos look even more tedious and vacuous than they already are. It would call into question his ability to form his own opinion, and as someone who makes a living by (IMO) disingenuously presenting himself as an authentic source of knowledge about GTA then that kind of gives the game away. He so evidently doesn't give a sh*t about GTA or the community.

How flexible are YouTube's policies against impersonation and is there any scope in the application of these rules? Is it always just about overtly pretending to be someone else, or is it plausible to show implicit impersonation - that he habitually takes anything and everything from anywhere and deceptively uses it as his own? I still think that getting him strikes might be the best and only option.  

 

Maybe having to make a video about GTA every single day forever would be some kind of Dantean circle of hell even for the most diehard of fans. Maybe he's living his own worst life right now, day after day the same morally bankrupt and squalid groundhog. That's entirely his own doing, which makes him even more pathetic. And I'm not the only one to say something like that!

Do you mean what they call Sponsored ads, aka ads as part of the video itself?

 

A lot of Youtubers does that these days as Youtube motorization seems to be sketchy, unreliable and always changing.

Is that what they're called? Yeah that's what I meant. He seems to have gotten worse. I've also noticed that he's started dabbling in making videos based on rumours. I don't ever remember him doing that. I'm just getting the impression that it's becoming more about the money than the love of the game for him. Which is sad to see.

Being a full-time youtuber is a job and it REQUIRES to make a video every single day. It's the very same thing as going to the office every single day. Quantity is better than quality. Like I mentioned, the audience and viewers are responsible for this as well.
