Either a re-do of Vice City. Maybe set in the 80s, modern day or both. If not then i would hope for Las Venturas and Phoenix. Or for a completely new location then i would say Chicago

Here's a random idea I was thinking of.

Norway, Sweden, Denmark/ Netherlands.

I reckon this would be quite interesting. It'd be set in the early 90s, you'd start out as a Black Metal fan, burning churches and fighting skinheadds. Then you'd join a biker gang and become involved in The Great Nordic Biker War. After a while you'd get involved with organised crime in Stockholm and Oslo.

The map would be like Oslo, Stockholm, then maybe Amsterdam or a mix of that and Copenhagen. Big fjords and deep forests.

It would be awesome to see them do Vice City, Atlanta and New Orleans in this huge mega-map of The South similar to San Andreas.

You've got big forests, swamps, cities, ghettos, THE EVERGLADES, Mountains (North Georgia), Lots of different cultures and backgrounds, small towns, trailer parks, rednecks, mansions, The French Quarter, Weird Voodoo sh*t, Benefactor Superdome (Mercedes Benz Superdome), CROCODILES AND ALLIGATORS, The E-Cola Headquarters (Coca-Cola HQ), AIRBOATS, Little Five Points, and so much more.

It would take an ungodly amount of time to make, but it would cure everyone's thirst for an HD Vice City, all while bringing something new and fresh to the table.

Rockstar, I hope you're taking notes.

I think this kind of thing is the only way to bring VC into GTA now. If they do I'd hope they'll make it look like it's clinging onto the 80's regardless of whether they put it in the present day.

Rockstar are kind of stuck now. Too soon for another Liberty City, and I don't think there is another state with a strong enough identity to get its own game. Texas, maybe?

I don`t really give two sh*ts where they set it just give me more than three cities in a map that`s not cramped together and I`ll be happy as a pig in sh*t.

I like the tri-city combo from San Andreas, but only applied to other cities.

Possibly combos (in order of how badly I would like to see them):

New York (Liberty) + Montreal + Boston (protag: Irish mob guy working for someone like Whitey Bulger)

New York (Liberty) + Philly + Washington DC (with Atlantic City as a mini city or a neighborhood in one of the others)

(protag: any type of criminal type that isn't a Eastern European mobster, Italian mobster, a biker, a bouncer, or a mute psychopath with a leather jacket and green jeans)

Houston + New Orleans + Dallas (+ San Antonio) (protag: some Texas madman that looks roughly like Stone Cold Steve Austin with a bald head, possibly a biker or prison gang member)

Pittsburgh + Toronto + Detroit (+ Cleveland for four) (protag: mafia guy)

Las Angeles (Santos) + San Diego + Tijuana (protag: Mexican drug cartel member)

Atlanta + Charlotte + Nashville (protag: an up and coming NASCAR driver that gets hired to run drugs and escape heat.)

Denver/SLC + Phoenix + Las Vegas (Venturas) (protag: some skier pothead or a gambling scammer)

San Francisco (Fierro) + Oakland + San Jose (the entire Bay area) (protag: Epic Beard Man or some hacker from Silicon Valley)

El Paso + Ciudad Juarez + Albuquerque (protag: Walter White inspired)

Miami + Orlando + Tampa (protag: a Cuban drug dealer, rhymes with Brony Fontana)

Seattle + Portland + San Francisco (Fierro) (protag: Dirty Harry or some Chinese Tong/Triad member)

Chicago + Milwaukee + Minneapolis (protag: probably a Black or Hispanic gang member based of Chicago. The Fonz if based out of 50s Milwaukee...)

Kansas City + St. Louis + Memphis (protag: a traveling singer or a gang member, maybe both)

Indianapolis + Louisville + Cincinnati (protag: a jockey that is in with the mob)

Aren't you forgetting about Alderney City, and the State of New Alderney? For me the New York City region isn't complete without Jersey City, and New Jersey.

I would just consider it as a neighborhood of Liberty City, like it was in GTA IV. It's just across the river, no further from Manhattan (Algonquin) than Brooklyn (Broker).

I was thinking and then I thought how about Blackpool, England?

Blackpool is kind of like a run down seaside attraction, with an Eiffel Tower rip off.

Blackpool_tower_from_central_pier_ferris

bpool.jpgblackpool--2590134-10.jpg

It kind of looks like Vice City, with the neon lighting and beach. The place also looks kind of grim in light time so it should appease the GTA 3 & 4 goth. There's a lot of poverty in Blackpool.

Geography:

As you can see there is quite a unique geography as well. There is the Isle of Man nearby and a lot of national parks, which can add variety.

ATLANTA! Memphis, New Orleans.. Would love a southern environment.

You could have the KKK/rednecks out in the wilderness and swamps and the inner city ghetto gangs just outside downtown in projects and residential buildings.

I think London would make a great location. Problem is I don't like the idea of it being on an island as a city on its own, the idea of being 2 minutes from the sea just doesn't feel right. The other problem is the countryside wouldn't be particularly exciting, but then flatter lands would create a greater sense of expansiveness. It's also the only place GTA would work outside of America in my opinion.

I think it's pretty predictable though that GTA VI will be in Vice City. I hope they do the entirety, or a large chunk, of Florida though. Orlando, theme parks, Cape Canaveral, Tampa Bay, the cruise ships in Fort Lauderdale....an all-round interesting locale.

Also Washington would be cool in a Washington - Baltimore - Philli supermap, as others have suggested/created.

How many more times must we get the same old boring city for GTA - namely liberty city, vice city and los santos?

Enough already. those cities are done to death. GTA can't last forever cycling between these cities over and over again. Liberty City is just big buildings, Los Santos a grotty city with open areas, Vice is just beaches. We get it.

It's time for a new city.

London is just like NYC, unfortunately the gamers and populace of GTA fans have this condescending, outdated notion of what London is, yet these same people suck up to NYC thinking there's no place like it. London is actually BIGGER than NYC, and has everything new york has. London has so many possibilities with over 30 boroughs. Can you imagine how many settings they can bring into a game? West London (Sheperds Bush, Acton, Hammersmith), North London (Tottenham), East (Canary Wharf, Tower Hamlets, Greenwich) and South (Croydon, Vauxhall), the City..and each of those areas have their own quirks - finance, business, gangs of all types, environments, people, the possibilities are endless. London > NYC, Miami and Los Angeles. It has to be done at some point.

Other cities? Carcer City has untapped potential. I also don't mind Chicago as a 3rd option if GTA are too narrow minded to set it within the confines of america.

If they ever put a GTA in Blackpool I'm going to Rockstar North and punching every single one of them in the dick.

It has to be in the midwest area , which contains lots of ski areas and resorts . Opportunity of lots of new activities ; skiing , snowboarding , ice skating , ice hockey , snow tubing , riding snow mobiles etc

For the cities pick at least 3 of them : Chicago , Detroit , Cleveland , Milwaukee and Minneapolis

i would really like to see the next installment set in Las Ventuas in the 1970s, after reading this concept (http://gtaforums.com/topic/409198-grand-theft-auto-las-venturas/), which just illustrated incredibly well what a gta game needs to consist of .

If this wont happen, my secondary wishes belong to Vice City or New Orleans (got to admit, i was a little let down by the fact that they just skipped vice city in V)

Boston or Mexico city are also on my list.

Instead of just a city, you get 3 REGIONS.

-Pacific/Hawaiian Islands

-Southeastern US (Atlanta Georgia, North and South Carolina, etc)

-Southwest US (El Paso Texas, New Mexico, Las venturas NV and *bonus* some parts of Juarez Mexico.)

Also three different characters and their stories intertwining also

BRITLAND

Set it in the UK. Getting bored of playing America time and time again.

The UK is easy; just divide it into NI, ROI, Scotland, Wales and maybe Manchester and London

There storyline could take place during the Troubles. That would be interesting.

Scotland can be partitioned off through Haydrians wall

NI/ROI can be guarded off by military blockade

This. The game would obviously be London centred but the additions of Scotland, Wales and Ireland and Northern Ireland would be needed, even if they would not have anything to do with the story. England part would be London as Los Santos taking a third of the map. Also have mini versions of Brighton, Blackpool, Liverpool and Manchester but keep them like small towns (sorry those from those cities :()

Then have Wales which would be basically villages named by random letters like "Anfnfdhfjdshgjsdhshgjdhgjhgkhgkfhgslsijtieshhsghhr" etc.

Then have mountains up north before taking you to Scotland blocked by a modern version of Haydrain's wall similar to the Berlin Wall but maybe designed more old fashioned. Have the Scottish guards wearing kilts and shouting "FEST YA EYES" while holding up their kilts if you come near them. Of course once you enter Scotland bagpipes will play full blast and many Scots will be humping sheep. Id have Scotland about half the size of London with mini versions of Edinburgh, with Edinburgh castle being the centre piece, a mini town of Glasgow, represents the neds and such, basically the place where you can't understand anything anyone says and up north have Loch Ness which yo can go under water and possibly find the Loch Ness Monster.

Ireland and Northern Ireland would have their own Island and both are blocked by a barricade of soldiers similar to North and South Korea where you can't cross the border, only fly by plane, which may be shot down if you fly to low

I think people overestimate the chances to see Vice City as the next setting. Without its 80's atmosphere, the city would not be as interesting.

R* should definitely try a new location, I'm tired to see how uninspired they are when they have to choose a setting. Not saying i don't like their maps, but playing in New York for the 293842984290th times is annoying. It's merely better with Los Angeles.

I think R* should recreate Chicago. I read somewhere that they wouldn't do it because Ubisoft did it with Watchdog … Stupid argument. New York is used in 95% of the game taking place in the U.S.A., but it didn't prevent R* to use it.

The city itself is beautiful, its architecture is stunning, with so many iconic buildings … The street layout is perfect for a video game, and there's tons of diverse and interesting neighborhoods.

I've not played Watch Dogs yet, but according to what I've seen, the Chicago map is far from being acceptable. The John Hancock Center recreation is an insult to the real tower, and except The Loop, every other districts are highly inaccurate. I won't even mention that I learnt thanks to the game that Illinois featured mountain ranges.

But R* won't take any risk, so they'll reuse a setting already explored in the past. I hope it'll be Las Venturas, this city as the potential to be breathtaking on PS4/XBOX1.

Totally agree, what's the point of Vice City without the 80s ambiance?

I would love a remasterized Liberty City with different seasons (would be awesome under snow!) and the map could contain other cities like Jersey City and even Boston and Philadelphie, or Baltimore or DC.

How is Chicago really any different to New York? I don't want another concrete jungle where the primary colour is grey. Different landmarks isn't enough to set it apart

Present-day Florida could work - they'd just need to dress it up a bit... and they do that anyway. (Big hot-linked images below, view at own risk.)

This is Miami Beach. What it lacks in 80s vibe, it still makes up for by being party-central, USA. THe beach is still as sexy as it was in the 80s (and TONS more sexy than VC's moon surface beach was), the tropical landscape is still there, and the neon still glows brightly on bikini-clad tourist babes.

miami-1024x7.jpg

This is Opa-Locka (I've only seen pictures and heard stories, so I don't have much to say), it's just as ratty as Grove Street, and they've got an interesting City Hall building that makes a nice landmark.

This is an actual street in Miami. Since Miami's an old tropical city, you get a lot of stuff like this. Florida also has arguably the most beautiful botanical gardens on the east coast. This is the natural beauty that made RDR so sexy.

Coconut_Grove_Street_20100321.jpg

But above all... GTA NEEDS a city full of retired old kooks to provide actually funny/witty and not cynical or "oh poopoo, look at the silly dumb americans in their natural habitat" pedestrian dialogue.
