How about more than one city with the possibility that you can only travel between them by buying an airplane ticket? Think Fierro and Vice in one game. It will truly be a behemoth project for R* to take, but the replayability factor and the amount of activites they can pour into the game is almost endless. I won't even talk about about the potential of the Online offering in such a large and varied world. Hey, maybe even throw Venturas into the mix, make it on the same land of Fierro, and then it would be the most mind-boggling game R* would've ever created.

Hmm good idead but no don't talk about that online. We saw what happens if gta focuses online in gta 5 so no, gta 6 is going to be only single player focused,

GTA VI is only gonna be SP focused? Have you not paid attention to GTA V and GTA Online? GTA V, while it hasn't gotten any single player DLC, still had a solid story. Meanwhile, R* has released more Online DLC than there is titles in the series, and raked in money as a result. They aren't giving that up.

While a big reason that V hasn't released the planned Story DLC is the cowardly firing of The Benz..... and a contributing reason is the success of online.

I decided to make this list, sharing my opinion about places, that would perfectly fit certain decade and plot in the next GTA game.

Liberty City

Grand Theft Auto IV was one of the most succesful games, with strong storyline and beautifully detailed version of New York. Some fellas might say that there are too many GTA games set in Liberty and they'd liked Vice City seen in new game, but all that Miami 80's Cocaine Themathics got squeezed out for good, but Liberty could give us interesting atmosphere once more.

Imagine starting game in Liberty City, as some washed up mob enforcer working for one of them Five Families during 1970's. It could be a good prequel to GTA 4, with some of it's characters, like Jon Gravelli, Jimmy Peg and others.

State of Aldreny

First game of the HD Universe also gave us depiction of Northern New Jersey area. Industrial and Dock areas resemble Port Newark, and some of them landscapes look like Jersey City. And of course we have couple references to The Sopranos, for example - Pegorino's House bears similarities to Tony Soprano's, his strip club Honkers just licked off Bada-Bing! And finally, there's even Satriale's Pork Store, but it never figures during the plot.

Anyway, I think it would be awesome idea of bringing whole State of Aldreny (New Jersey) into next game, adding to the Northern Industrial and suburban part some other cities, like Atlantic City with all that casinos, gambling and organized crime.

Another perfect place for mafia-based plot.

Philadelphia, PA

As beautiful, as it violent. Philly became home to different ethnic organized crime groups and outlaw motorcycle clubs. Cosa Nostra still active in that area, although not so tough as them NY wiseguys - they still bring us news about characters like Joey Merlino. There are also Polish, Greek and Irish mafia in the city.

From the late 60's to the 80's it was also home for Philly Black Mafia, violent african-american organized crime group connected to the Nation of Islam. Later reformed as Junior Mafia and allegedly still active.

Philadelphia was always known for it's violent and bloody gang conflicts and would perfectly fit into any decade and any storyline from late 60's to the present time.

Baltimore, MD

If you saw The Wire - you know why it's on this list. Drug epidemics, gang wars, poverty, political corruption would make a good thriller-styled storyline. B-more also has really interesting geography and would be a perfect location for free-roaming between missions.

Boston, MA

Historically - a battlefield of organized crime, with Irish Gangs, who were at matresses with wiseguys from Providence. Perfect location to organized-crime related plot, which could use some historic basis, like Boston Irish Gang Wars of the 50's and 60's or rivaly between Winter Hill Gang and Patriarca Crime Family.

Atlanta, GA

Most dangerous city in the US, as of 1994, known for it's gang violence. Like other major cities it fell under crack epidemics during 1980's and 1990's. City based on Atlanta could be a suitable place for drug dealing, gang wars and dirty south hip hop, bringing some nostalgic notes of GTA San Andreas. But on the Southeast.

Nihilanth1982

the idea to restrain it to one city is outdated now, i think.

gta5 - los santos + some country - it was refreshing to be able to get away from the city. in gta4 it was claustrophobic being stuck in new york with its drab architecture.

gta san andreas - still the best gta imho by far - multiple cities, towns, country areas - basically a state. THIS is the way to go. new places, new chapters, new groups of people, new things to do, and constantly refreshing. if they could do it in 2004 theres no stopping us doing it again after 2017.

think about COUNTIES than just one specific city.

multiple places is the way forward.

Carcer City's river that catches fire is a reference to a real life river which runs through Cleveland and also caught fire. Maybe it's Cleveland?

That's a bit further from NYC than Carcer's distance from Liberty City is made out to be, but the atmosphere and crime rate are somewhat fitting.

HOW'S ANNIE?

Out of these supposed ideas that Rockstar has tossed around (there's very little doubt in my mind it won't be one of them), the one that excites me least is Chicago/Detroit. Not so much that they're bad locations but they just seem very bland and without much to offer.

I've got my fingers crossed for the small town America idea. I don't think EVERY interior needs to be opened like decribed (there should be a lot however), but I love the idea of of a rich, explorable and immersive. It may take a bit of getting used to swapping the bustling streets for quiet stretches of highway. However whether Rockstar are ballsy enough to make such a drastic change (especially considering how similar the environments may be to RDR 2) I don't know.

Or you can give me 1970s Venturas. I'll be happy with that.

Yeah that'd be awesome ... but I don't have anything against Chicago/Detroit either.

honestly man the only location leak I trust is Boston (that cop tweet)

it makes sense too because R* has a studio nearby, so it seems plausible that the Housers have spent a reasonable amount of time there.

For all we know this could've been for Bully.

I think it's going to be VC though. Maybe they'll pull a GTA V and also do the surrounding areas of Miami. Swamps anyone?

^ oh ... that one, I remember. Yes, I believe it's for Bully 2.

Vice City, hm ... but that would be against what Ash told us. I think it's going to be Chicago & Detroit with a countryside in between.

I release all possible rights to these ideas from my property:

We've been there before in GTA, and each other game has sequenced it's way through GTA1 Unlockable Levels in order in it's 3D world. If we're talking Chronologically, the next one would be London.

One of my favorite reasons for this, is that it's surrounded by industrial areas and then Rural areas, and because it's not impossible to imagine them building a Huge area even outside of london. Considering San Andreas is designed around an entire state that's almost the size of the whole of britain. If they just stuck to London, which is huge - they wouldn't have to downsize it at all and you'd almost never travel down every road.

I vision it as a much more gritty and full playground for this game and with a little tweaking I guarantee rockstar could find creative ways of working around issues like traffic conjestion and streets so busy you simply can't walk down them sometimes lol.

It is a deep, densley packed, huge area with distinctive districts inside it. It has a full four seasons, atmospheric nights, and a long standing Gang and Mob underground that goes beyond nationality. You'll hear every accent, meet every kind of Gangster and there are tons of Movie, Comic and TV Series references to draw from. It's very easy to laugh at certain Londoners, and has an underground hip-hop aesthetic unique to it. Grime music, of the old sort.

Some references to the kind of energy that could be captured.
Movies:

Green street

Snatch

Layer Cake

Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels

Kidulthood

Adulthood

The Krays

Piggy

etc, etc, etc. There's so much.

There is no argument.

GTA just is not suited to anywhere outside of the United States, even Rockstar themselves said so for various, credible reasons.

I'm open to a different setting for GTA that isn't confined to the US. As long as Rockstar can get the humor right I'm OK with this - seeing as the Housers grew up near London it shouldn't be that hard.

There would also be a huge difference in architecture compared to other GTA cities (plenty of buildings in London are of contemporary style) which is another welcome change, should be a challenge for the environment designers too.

I'm from London, and I'm telling you, it's not gonna work, not for the kind of GTA we've been used to since it went 3D. I'm the biggest GTA fan you can get too, I would be in a very good position to know that it just won't work effectively.

London isn't happening. Even Rockstar said so. The game will stay in the U.S.

I still believe we're getting a brand new city, possibly a GTA version of Chicago. There's no reason for R* to go back to Vice City, mainly because it isn't the 80's anymore, and I highly doubt in the age of shark cards R* is gonna do a retro GTA. I see Las Venturas as a non- starter due to gambling restrictions online. People can say there isn't any, but if that were true, we'd have seen the Casino opened already in Online. Las Venturas only draw is gambling, and with Online, that probably isn't possible to do, as for reasons stated above.

San Fierro? Ehh.... possible. But if we see San Fierro, we may get more than just SF. We'd probably see the Tech element played up. We might get the surrounding Bay Area, maybe even a version Oakland and Silicon Valley..... but then R* runs the risk of being compared to Watch_Dogs 2. We wouldn't see hacking like in WD2, but the tech element would be a part in order to give the setting some depth.

Like I said, wouldn't be shocked to see a brand new location.

You're a critic, just cause your claims or excuses are ridiculous and meritless.

San Fierro is not likely cause it was impossible to fit the picture or map size kn Gta 5.

I'm guessing you just want the vibe. Vice City is still the most favorable and Las Venturas has to same likes as San Fierro.

Who's a critic? Me? My claims aren't ridiculous or without merit. If Gambling laws were a prohibitor to the casino coming to Online, which is a view me and many others share, then Las Venturas makes no sense because it's PRIMARY draw is GAMBLING. It isn't the 1980's anymore. Sex and cocaine isn't AS PROMINENT as it was. It's very possible R* would want to go somewhere else.

I think I gave some pretty good reasons.

And if Ash's production notes are to be believed, and many do, Vice City was considered "not worth going back too."

At least two big, dense and packed cities with stuff to do and discover is a 'MUST' for GTA 6 ... also a dense and 'real' countryside (with no huge highway going through it and destroy the immersion completely!) with lots of little towns in between the two cities and lots of different roads (no highways!) where you can drive ... and at least one meaningful mountain which you can fully! explore, including caves, dozens of various roads leading to the top of the mountain, some challenges, ...

Mount Chiliad from GTA V was a complete joke! Mount Chiliad from San Andreas I spent dozens of hours exploring and doing 'sh*t' and having fun ... that mountain alone was miles better than the ones from V combined.

The Bens was fired, so it is now once again worth it to Rockstar Games.

I take his notes as a great assault and shouldn't be taken lightly, cause he probably was working with The Bens at the time.

No way I'm going to act like a sheep, this is absurd.
