Is it even worth joining free roam anymore?

I've been playing solo/ invite sessions recently, and I have to say, I'm getting more out of them than being harassed in free roam by those god awful hackers and whatnot.

 

Do many of you guys (legit players) even bother going on to free roam anymore since the rising of hacks? It just doesn't make sense why you would want to play free roam at this moment in time.

 

I mean apart from running away from god-moders, you can't even drive your own car down the road without some supernatural hack freezing you then making your car disappear.

 

Not to mention the money griefing, getting trapped in your garage, getting ddos'd if you report a hacker (happened to me)... Free roam seems like a bad idea nowadays, so I'd be interested if ANYONE willingly stills plays in these free roam lobbies.

 

By the way, I play on free roam 80% of the time normally, so it's a massive dip in my online experience.

I only play free roam. Only had one encounter with a modder, and he was friendly. As far as god mode, I would love to run into one again. I take great pleasure in taking them down.

I think I've only encountered one script kiddie (calling them hackers is an insult to real hackers) since the last update, I was driving along at fully speed in my Entity and suddenly my character was standing in the middle of the road and the Entity carried on without me for a short distance before it curved round and came to a stop, so i switched sessions immediately.

 

But have met a few scumbag degenrate godmode / invincible car griefers.

 

R* really does need to find a way to stop those pests from harassing us.

Why in the happy dammit are you going to clothing stores in freemode anyway? Damn. Use invite-only rooms for all your stupid crap like that and checking out some new paint jobs for your car, then go into Freemode when you wanna get your battle on.

 

Understand this and all will be clear to you: Freemode is a gigantic deathmatch. Period. Would you go clothes shopping in the middle of a deathmatch? Expect to be shot at or blown up at any time in Freemode and you'll be OK. Never complain about it, it's all part of the process. If you go in a clothing store in the middle of a public lobby, you deserve to be shot. You're asking for it. Don't complain when you get it.

 

OP: Things aren't that bad out there. There's not as many God moders as you'd think. I haven't ran into a invincible car in a long time. Modders are even less common than God moders. The only one I ran into gave me $78,000. There's guys who run around griefing in jets, but give them enough time and they'll crash. If it's really bad in your room, join another. It's really not that bad overall at all. At least on XBox. Don't know anything about the PlayStation side of Los Santos.

Yes but the shops are there, and its sometimes worth the risk, especially if they fail in killing you in the store. I guess i got lucky as he didnt blow up my PV, what i nice guy...

don't like modders after i was one in gta 4 with my old J, but i wasn't an ass like 99% of the common rabble. i liked to give everyone a chance but that was long ago and i don't mod no more and because of the rubbish going on in free roam i ONLY go invite only sessions because i can do what i want and be free to watever i wish to do.

i do play missions with others but it is tolerable compared to the severe head aches of free roam. GTA5 still my 2nd favourite game.

I only ever play free roam unless my brother invites me to a private session to show me his cars.

 

But when in free roam most of the time I just drive or find random things to do, have not come accross any mods, glitches or hacks ever.

 

Get the odd griefer but thats about it, most of the time I find players just wanting to have a laugh

I played for a bit earlier.

 

There was lots to be bitchy about - but I didn't get trolled by anyone in free roam. I'm using Xbox Live and I don't hunt for free roam wars - if that makes a difference - but I usually play once a day and I really haven't had any issues with it.

I only play in closed friend session with my cousin, when it comes to free roam.

Yesterday, after a Rooftop Rumble session, it put me into a public lobby. One second later the green-blip car for Simeon appeared not that far from me, so I decided to give it a try. I took it and rolled through the city for about a minute. Suddenly I see this red blip behind, so I know what's going down. When he was close behind I put a sticky bomb on his car. I triggered it, it exploded - his car didn't. A couple of seconds after that he shot me down. As soon as I respawned I started to watch him through my sniper rifle (didn't even bother to waste ammo trying to kill him). He planted a sticky bomb on the high priority vehicle and drove off.

I'm kidding. I personally don't have a problem with any of those things. Be hones now, how often do you run into modders?

Out of 5 random sessions, 4 will have either a god mode glitcher OR someone who is hacking. I thought at first it was because I am a red dot on the map, which is why I'm put into all the lobbies full of nutters, but it's not only me.

 

Also, I'm not scared to go into free roam, but the fun element is slowly being sucked out by these guys that I mentioned.

I've been in free roam a lot. It's fine so long as you keep people out of your hair and just stay away from troublemakers.

No I just carry on as normal, but in saying that I don't sit in my garage spamming invites or battling at lsc so have had very few problems.

 

I have a modder on my friends list who pops in now and again but as far as I noticed they don't go greifing.

Free roam isn't a gigantic deathmatch, and it's people who treat it as such that are the problem.

 

Having said that, I rarely encounter any problems in free roam so.

I play in it only the majority of the time, either solo or with friends. I can get more done and earn cash without worry. Always have done this.

 

However I do go into public lobbies from time to time. Mostly by accident if I get spawned there after a mission,or if I've swapped character mid session, but sometimes on purpose.

 

I sometimes like to see how long I survive on public but I try to stay away from the wars. I sometimes like to just watch the chaos on the tv. I've not encountered many modders though. One or two, the worst being some idiot on invisible mode. Guess I've been lucky but then again i don't spend all my time on public.

One I went into an invincible glitched Zentorno (without knowing!) with one of my old crew members to end up driving up to a group of god-modders, I knew I had to stop.

 

The asteroids and ferris wheels I saw the next couple of days shut me off until the next update comes out.
