i agree that R* may turn off the gtao for like a week or so to fix stuff but we all know that everything would be back to reality once the game is back online.

 

i dont know if it the Rage engine or their source code but they seem to unable to permanently fix stuff.

 

on the other hand, that would be like admiting defeat against the modders!

Turning the game off doesn't need to happen, having the game running is irrelvent. There's client side software and server side software. You patch either on a separate developers machine. When you are happy with it, you upload... Done..

Okay, so someone has explained that client/server model, but what about the modded consoles? Also, are all people with the menus on modded consoles or are they just somehow running scripts on unmodded consoles?

 

What I'm getting to is this:

Can Rockstar do anything about the modded consoles?

What have other game developers been able to accomplish against modded consoles?

Like is COD or BO going through the same bullsh*t?

Also what are Sony and Microsoft doing?

If anyone feels like educating me on this, I'm all eyes and with appreciation.

There's no need to take down *anything* online unless it's internal repair or patching. Nobody takes down a server to update sh*t any more, not since deployments became a thing!

I'm quite skeptical about a second money wipe, but heists being available for net-gen only is very likely to happen

You all talk of modders, I've literately never seen one. Are there more modders on PSN or something? The biggest asses I meet are god mode glitchers who I gladly park a tank on.

As some know, I've been in constant talks with Rockstar to reach a settlement in a very serious complaint I filed against them with the federal government. According to data, Rockstar would have to take GTAO offline for up to 60 days to seriously fix or patch all of the issues. What I do know is that they are working hard to improve and change GTAO for next gen consols and will NOT provide any type of update for the PS3 version of the game after December 31 of this year. Furthermore, within the next six months, Sony will top providing updates for the PS3 as well in an effort to force everyone to next gen.

 

Next Gen GTAO won't have the issues we have now. With the release only a couple of months away, Rockstar has put their attention on the future rather than the present.

What you said would have been cool if I didn't really know what I was talking about (hint:I DO. I build online sh*t for a living) and I don't read every last thread, but its presence is noticeable as a recurring subject, a flawed subject mind you.

IV's profit didn't come from online, though. It came from the sales of the game and the story DLCs.

Modded consoles can edit scripts .

If R* released a update then modders just need time till they understand R* changes and then they will get a bypass for it .

Scripts can be loaded via R* cloud ( server-sided ) .

When you are at GTAV loading screen and you are signed in PSN/Xbox live then it will load two files .

Bg.rpf = background scripts ( used to hotfix glitches , mods ) .

0x1a098062.json = tuneables ( cash multipliers , cars prices ..etc ) .

sure there is a way of adding file validation, the fact they didnt implement this after the money frenzy is beyond me.
