I have seen several reports on twitter, apparently even giving out your gt on a forum asking to be invited to a lobby was enough, and these have been not only gta bans but xbl and psn bans

I remember seeing this thing about court cases about computer tampering (hacking basically)

they traced the activity back to a computer in a household but could not prove who was using the computer at the time of the crime.

Well, in my opinion, those legit players were responsible for keeping up with the current situation of the game. A player going into a public lobby without any knowledge of the prevalent mods and exploits is like a traveler going into Somalia without any knowledge of the fighting or political instability. I got sucked into the middle of the city today with everyone in the (full)lobby, and 1 guy in an alien suit. I busted out my combat mg and laid out 14 players one after another, then tried taking out the alien but he was in godmode. Then suddenly money started shooting out of me everywhere, so i used dpad to get to single player because I thought he was making me drop my own money but when i logged back in i was 40-50k up in cash. I'm glad i bailed right away as i earned all my money and would like to keep it that way for my personal satisfaction. If it can give me that much in a matter of seconds i'm sure R* will notice the large sums people will go to. The spot he teleported me to looked like it may be the same one the meteor spawns in the city.

Well, in my opinion, those legit players were responsible for keeping up with the current situation of the game. A player going into a public lobby without any knowledge of the prevalent mods and exploits is like a traveler going into Somalia without any knowledge of the fighting or political instability. How can you ask for touble when dont have any knowledge of it ? Not every person playing GTAO is part of a forum letting them know there is some kind of exploits going on right now most of them just fire up their consoles and play , should they be ban too ?

Again, I'll just add that they aren't just checking random forums and banning people. It's to much work and anybody can post on a forum with somebodies ID.

I'll clear this up for you and anybody else reading this. It's not Sony or Microsoft doing the banning, It's Rockstar. It might be a little different on the 360, where the ban effects all services, I'm not entirely sure, but Rockstar can console ban you for 2 weeks or indefinitely on the PS3, you'll still be able to use PSN though just not GTA.

You're not getting banned for joining the modded lobbies you're getting banned because you're receiving large sums of money. $100,000,000 seems to be the tipping point, if you receive that much, expect a ban shortly after. Rockstar do have checks in place to stop things like this happening, and it's obviously working.

 

Edit: A little note, when the ban expires, you'll be left with $0, all of your money gets wiped.

 

You're wrong. They are checking forums, espicially ones like Se7enSins and TheTechGame. They're just two of them. They have banned people who posted their gamertags and these people hadn't even got into one of those lobbies yet.

 

Also your edit it also wrong. My other account has a 2-Week live suspension and ends on the 22nd and he still has all 27million.

 

I accept what I did was wrong, I've just used my 2-week ban to complete GTA: San Andreas again and it's awesome! so really I should be thankful that I got banned.

My gosh--my nephew's, best friend's, teacher's, counsin's uncle just told him that the FBI, UN and Vladimir Putin are all part of a joint task force that are monitoring the IP addresses of all people with more than $5 million in their GTA online bank account for suspicious activity. I also hear they are doing door to door sweeps and confiscating consoles.

 

I would make sure to not turn on your game system for the next few weeks to be safe.

In regards to your money, it'll get wiped when you load Online after you get unbanned. Social Club doesn't update until you login.

I openly told Rockstar that I was modding in a support ticket, no action was taken.

Yes it will, it happened to me a couple of weeks back, when you login your money is reset. You can check threads on se7ensins, everyone says the same thing.

Personally I don't care because I don't glitch, and I don't cheat. But just trying to disuade others from trying it, it's not big it's not clever, it will only lead you getting a ban.

So it takes you a few weeks longer to get that paint job for you sports car, LSC won't suddenly run out of paint, it will still be there next week.

Trying to take short cuts in life doesn't work either, so why should it in GTA.

I know I'm not going to get banned. But I don't know how long it would take for Rockstar to remove the money and how precise they will be. I've heard reports that people had legit cash taken away last time. I think those reports are false, but I'm not sure of course.

Well, I was someone who was gifted money during the first billionaire days back in December. Back then, Rockstar took all our money away, but they didn't ban us if we didn't actively cheat. They also let us keep whatever we bought with the modded money. A slap on the wrist if you ask me.

 

I saw the first money wipe as Rockstar's way of saying "Okay, we'll let you guys off easy this time, but it is your responsibility to be aware of glitches and exploits going on, report them to us, and not get your account exposed to such things."

 

"Innocents" finding themselves in the current modded lobbies is a sign to Rockstar that they didn't get the message the first time around. Thus, it's no more Mr. Nice Developer. Rockstar is laying the hammer down and throwing them in with the modders, glitchers, and exploiters.

 

As for the "I didn't know" excuse, that's what the internet is for. If you have internet for gaming, then you have internet for checking the current situation of the game. It doesn't take that long to go onto this forum or Rockstar Support and skim through the posts; you don't even need to create an account to view posts either.
