Does anyone use the sniper the correct way?

Like do you ever take a heli and go onto a rooftop and just snipe people down?

I have been on a building right next to los santos customs just sniping people.

I have a Clear view of rockford plaza, ghetto towers street and ls.

My farthest was ghetto towers.

It's even more fun if you bring a friend who has a bounty on them to lure to you.

 

As in the correct way. Not trying to quick scope people in the street

i pretty much use miniguns only in survival mode to destroy bad guys and bring down choppers!

The sniper is very effective against aircraft and a car coming towards you from down the road.

The bottom line is if you kill someone, you are using it correctly.

I remember when tank/car sniping was I thing, I was sniping people at the most expensive apartment from Weazel Plaza. Needless to say after about 20 deaths someone got angry enough to bring an army to ground level below my perch. Tanks, helis, and multiple people just swarming around. They were not that bright.

I think the OP is confusing the words correct and bitch made. Hiding on a rooftop waiting for somebody to walk in front of your sniper scope because you are a pussy who has to resort to using cowardly tactics to get kills isn't the correct way to use a sniper rifle.

 

Hiding on a roof is almost on par with only using a tank in PvP then going passive until you are able to retrieve another tank.

I used to be sniping on rooftops about 90% of the time I was online. The Arcadius building has a great view all round and you can snipe people from vehicles at the inevitable "Battle of LSC" that's usually going on in central LS. It was also the perfect place for tank sniping. Alas those days are gone

That's the whole point of using a sniper rifle... running into wide open space with a bolt-action rifle is guaranteed death. With the lag, framerate spikes, draw distance, rendering, and the occasional "kill everything in sight" troll driving super cars and military vehicles, sniping people from a rooftop is the smart choice in this game.

I'm a lazy clumsy street level sniper. I do love seeing those super visible silhouettes appearing on nearby rooftops though, just after the off radar chopper lands. It's all very predictable

There is no "correct way" to use a sniper or gun. A gun's job is to allow you to shoot people from far away and the sniper just has a much farther range than any other firearm. Asking a question like this is like asking "Are people using super cars correctly?" Then stating that super cars were only meant to drive on asphalt and not on dirt when pretty much everyone drives a super car on dirt paths in the game.

You do realize we have no bolt action rifles. Both the sniper and heavy sniper are semi automatic. I do well using my sniper while on the ground without having to resort to cowardly tactics.

 

All but maybe one or two rooftop snipers I have run into this game are the definition of a pussy. Whenever they die they either go passive, run, or go get a tank.

Tank sniping from rooftops was one of the best things this game had.Sure it was unrealistic but it was fun and balanced tanks at the time.Just the concept of a 50 cal on a rooftop taking out twankers was thrilling.

Now you can only snipe people on foot a block away max or in vehicles.

At least with ps4 version we are going to get better rendering for sniping and that will make it a lot more fun than now.

I know for a fact that the regular sniper is bolt action, your character even physically pulls the bolt back with each shot. Not sure about the .50 cal though.
