I play on PS3 2 to 3 nights a week and almost every session the last couple weeks I've encountered various dbags ( hackers changing characters, godmoders, invincible cars. Etc.) but thankfully majority of the players are legit. I played GTA 4 and remember how slowly but surely I would see more and more modders/hackers each time I played.

 

Make no mistake about it, if left without a fix, this issue will get worse as more and more people will join in with the rest of the morons. So you can be "whatever" about it now because you rarely encounter one of these losers, but you'll soon be wishing that Rockstar makes a fix fast.

 

I can only assume that on PS4 it will happen much less as you need to pay for a Playstation Plus account to play online, but unless Rockstar is going to fix this soon or start actually punishing these cheaters, it will not only continue, but get worse.

 

Mad props to the majority of you out there playing the game the way it was meant to be played (even you jet griefers).

It's already happened, the menus are out now, it's not going to stop, PS3/360 are dying out, people are jailbreaking just get a little more life out of the console.

It's not like they haven't tried to patch it, they've tried at least 3 times now. They can CRC check files as much as they'd like, but you'll always be able to bypass with the EBOOT. It's more of a case of 'can't be fixed' than 'when will it be fixed'.

Well I don't know much about that kind of stuff, but if what you say is true then I would hope Rockstar would make an example out of these people and make it well known that you'll be punished if you mess with their game.

 

I know on PS3 you can easily make a new account, but it's still gotta be somewhat crappy to start a new character over and over again.

 

Otherwise, I will be looking more forward to the PS4 version.

I'm not particularly tech-savvy so I'd like to ask anyone that is if this will happen on the ps4 version? The console itself should be much harder to "hack" due to its young age no? or is Los Santos doomed?

One of the reasons Xbox Live is better, For £40 a year you get a high security gaming experience while on the PS3 online is free in exchange for even the slightest bit of security.

Pretty sure the modding is the same for both consoles , even tho ps3 is free your IP can still be traced therefore accountable paying for a service doesnt necessarily mean trouble-free

Agreed. I bet it is impossible though. I have no idea how many programmers are trying to fix this but there are thousands of glitchers trying new things everyday. Not good odds for Rockstar.

R* has no need to fix anything right now for current gen cuz the players keep f*cking more sh*t up. They need to focus on next gen to make sure it's problem free or this will happen all over again.

This game had so much potential. Then the players ruined it time and time again. I'm sure the self-entitled assholes will continue to whine about no new FREE dlc coming out after every Tuesday

Rockstar deserves the majority of the blame for not supporting, not properly testing, and overpromising on what online was going to be. Players deserve their share of the blame too, but don't act like Rockstar isn't a major part of this problem.

If you were a lead guy at R* would you keep throwing money at this game trying to fix it when players will just find more ways to break it again? I for sure wouldn't anymore. They made 2billion off sales. Their business plan took into account cash card sales. I've never bought one and prob never will, some players do for their own reasons. But as it stands currently they throwing more money away trying to fix things than the amount of money they are bringing in. I wouldn't do it anymore, I would focus on something else. I'd cut my losses and move on. I cannot hate on R* for doing the same now.

This was an innovative game. What they tried to do was never done before. Just because they made their money on sales doesn't mean are obligated to throw it all away to fix the things the players are breaking. I would use this game as a learning experience for next gen.

Abandoning the game would give them a very poor reputation with the players. They would have a hard time gaining that trust back on future games. They can't just abandon it while so many are still playing even if it cut into their profits. I don't see them abandoning it until the majority moves over to PS4. They would want to carry as many over as pissible, which means supporting them until they make the move. Some will move to PS4 quickly believing it will be better, some wont trust PS4 enought to spend the bucks yet and will need to be supported until they make the switch. R* will have accounted for this when they planned to release GTA V/Online to PS4.

I also have a hard time believing they are loosing money. Do you have a source for this information?
