Fallcreek
Any word on why?? It's most likely cancelled because Hideo Kojima was let go by Konami. Without Kojima, the whole project falls apart. There may be a new Silent Hill, but it'll just be the same mediocre bullsh*t we've been getting since Team Silent was disbanded. OurJud

No, having now played it... in the dark and with headphones, I think I know the real reason. It's too damn scary!

The Notorious MOB
Here's the official word from Konami - http://www.gamespot.com/articles/konami-responds-to-silent-hills-cancellation-claim/1100-6426908/
Cosmic Gypsy
.. "Konami has issued a statement that suggests the game is, at the very least, undergoing major changes." Ordinarily i'd jump for joy because Silent Hill has been terrible since the PS2 days IMO, the game gradually gets worse and worse as the years go on, this one for the PS4 however genuinely does look epic, so I'm worried to say the least. In all honesty, I usually boohoo rumours of a game being 'scary', but P.T genuinely is. I almost quit myself [that's not a typo ], but was enjoying it so much I just had to be brave. Theodore93
Disappointing but not exactly unexpected. As soon as I have my copy of MGSV safely in my hands, Konami can go down the toilet for all I care. Antigenetic

Vertighost
Before the cancellation I always had a feeling Silent Hills would never really live up to greatness of P.T, what I mean is I envisioned Silent Hills would be a really really great game, but P.T would somehow be the more superior experience. I know they where not to be related at all, but feel the game may have not been as perfect as Hideo wanted and maybe it made it easier for him to part with. You guys may laugh, but I feel Alien Isolation was a great survival horror type experience, of course nothing like the feeling of playing P.T for the first time, but if you are really looking for a horror type game that is a little different and atmospheric give Alien Isolation a go, play it on hard. OurJud
Before the cancellation I always had a feeling Silent Hills would never really live up to greatness of P.T... I wouldn't argue with that really, but it didn't stop me drooling at the thought of being able to step out of that front door and into the rain and darkness of the outside. Imagine exploring the woods surrounding the house, driving rain, just the torch showing you the way... In a perfect world, the full Silent Hill would (for me, at least) have been just like P.T (totally HUDless) with a massive, open-world beyond those doors. I imagined leaving the house and climbing behind the wheel of an SUV and driving nice and slowly through the rain to another location.... Anyway, dreaming aside, and like you said, I doubt the full game would have been like this anyway. Antigenetic
Seems legit... Seriously though, the promise of future 'Silent Hill' titles is what concerns me. The series has been dreadful since Silent Hill 3, so the future promise of more garbage like Homecoming or Downpour doesn't exactly fill me with hope. Silent Hills was the only saving grace for this franchise... Edited April 30, 2015 by Antigenetic Payne Killer and Tchuck

Tchuck
No-one here in Japan understands what the hell is going on at Konami. It appears the new CEO or something wants to get rid of anything Kojima related because he wants the company to be the main focus, and not Kojima. Which is insanely retarded, given everything. Konami is also appearing to focus more on arcades and pachinko machines, so that's probably the direction they'll end up heading. It's a shame, since they make some of my favourite games, but I'm sure Kojima at least will rebuild somewhere else. Ss4gogeta0
Theodore93
Whatever they're up to, it would seem they've just gone full retard. Although I am a Kojima fan, I didn't automatically assume he was blameless in this whole debacle until we got some solid information for the bust up. Now I just think it's down to Konami being completely batsh*t. Edited May 1, 2015 by Waldie Antigenetic and Vertighost
Antigenetic
Wow; if the information in those videos is accurate, Konami have lost their f*cking marbles. I really hope that Kojima ends up forming his own independant studio; he's too good of an artist to just disappear into nothing...
ainsz
Damn shame this latest news. Sony has had a lot of bad luck when it's come presenting great ambitious games in development only for them get cancelled or go DNF. Even worse is the decision not to renew the license for P.T. on PS Store. Taking this away is bit like book burning. JamRock7
Sad to see this game's fate. Konami man, what u doing?? Hopefully sony picks up kojima but sadly konami owns the IP to Silent Hill(s) so that window's closed.

No reason they can't still make the game hinted at with P.T and call it something else. Edited May 9, 2015 by OurJud
JamRock7
Copyright infringement isn't limited to title. If they make a game resembling silent hills, they're still viable to press charges. But I'm sure there are other old sony horror IPs kojima can work on
