Popular Post KamikaziOtter Posted August 12, 2014 Popular Post Share Posted August 12, 2014 (edited) Â Â Last night my crew and I decided to mix things up and TOTALLY fell in love with the Duster Bi-Plane... We formed into a squadron of 5 planes and quickly came to the conclusion that the Duster is decidedly not a easy plane to fly! It's considerably less powerful than the other planes, is easily affected by wind and slippery landing strip conditions, but given it's two wings makes it HIGHLY maneuverable with skilled pilot's behind the stick! Â Â Case in point, just after takeoff we had someone in a jet trying to fire missiles at us, we just cantered back, weaved our way through buildings and under bridges, easily dodging his missiles, until he crashed into a crane! Â We toured our way east along the coast line, flying in formation... descended into the hills and wove through the canyons to the west coast where we landed in Palleto Bay to stop for lunch and some pics. Â Â Afterwards as the sun was setting, we headed for home and LS International and the conclusion of a great day! Â We were remarking to each other just how much fun we had and it brought up a interesting topic, can you imagine just how much fun these planes would be if they were equipped with guns and you could have vintage air battles with them?!? Â Â Â Anyway... we had fallen in love! It's one of those situations where a vehicles greatest weakness's become the most endearing aspects... It's not the fastest, or most modern, nor the most powerful... But what we discovered, is it is the most fun to fly! It's awesome, and you can't beat flying down a street past 2 or 3 other players, upside down and lower than the lamp posts. Â If it had guns, I don't think I'd ever be out of it. Â I'll have to give it another try when I play online today You wont regret it, its a really fun plane to fly! Takes 1 passenger and press the X button (on ps3, what is it A button on xbox?) to paint the sky. Only the pilot can see the smoke coming from the plane though. However, I dont agree, its a very easy plane to fly since its so slow and forgiving about turns and you can land on a dime with it. If the guy with the Lazer didnt manage to shoot you down then he was a clown. Â It is a excellent plane to do surveillance from the air since its so slow. Â I think the least Rockstar could do is add so the passenger can fire with the Combat MG. Â Some facts about the Duster: Its the only plane, besides the Vestra, that does not spawn on the ground in GTAO. When the protagonists in story mode flies it, they are wearing a leather helmet and goggles whereas the player does not in GTAO. In story mode it comes in several different colours, in GTAO only in red. When spraying harmless pesticide with it, it is only visible to the pilot - no one else. It only ever seems to spawn at the Grapeseed airfield and the ol' beast needs every last inch of that little runway to haul it's ass airborne. I bought one just so I could summon it to the longer runways So much fun to pull backward loops, having it stall out at the top and fall over backwards. Â I'd kill for a version with some old fashioned machine guns added and/or the crop dusting assembly under the wings removed. Between3and20chars Posted August 12, 2014 Share Posted August 12, 2014 Wouldn't mind seeing an "Enemy Ace/Red Baron/Flyboy/etc." update that puts out a machine-gun mounted Duster and suitable new clothing options for piloting such a machine. Just think of all the great WW1-esque dogfights that could be had with dusters. Â I'd also like a variant with pesticide that other players can actually see and react to. Â Well, try takeoff/landing it in Palleto Bay (on the bumpy beach) in the rain... Or going up and over Mt Chilliad coming out of the canyons, It's not quite as easy as one might think! Â I would agree with you in regards to the jet 'pilot" though, he was a clown and was sticking to just using missiles (amateur mistake) and clearly was'nt used to dealing with pilots who knew how to pull immelman splits around buildings and under bridges. Â I also agree that it would be a fantastic option to have vintage clothing options (which are already coded in the game) as options for us!
