Anyone else feel GTA 5 has run it's course?

My play time has pretty much dwindled down to about an hour a day at best, compared to the countless hours I logged in almost a year. I've done everything I've wanted to do and the updates that has come out hasn't really sparked anymore interest for me in continuing this game. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted but everything must come to an end sooner or later.

It definitely feels like it... although there has been a steady supply of content, it doesn't really feel like anything has been added. Somewhat decent cars and clothes that appear blurry for everyone else havent added any greatness to the game. There are still too many core issues that have not been addressed I feel, such as driving straight up a mountain in anything from a Panto-Zentorno, not being able to croush, punching someone once and killing them (Why can't we brawl like we could in Red Dead?).

 

I find it funny that Rockstar has put more effort and time into fixing Red Dead Redemption (It's working again, currently) than they have into GTA Online. I have laced up my boots and gone back to the old west.

A game like this can't be full blown right before a new generation of consoles are coming out, so R* created a dumbed down version for current gen that was expected to draw much attention for the first 6-12 months with new players constantly being pulled into the mix. Expecting some who started playing it from the beginning to put it aside after a while, keeping some interested with little dust particles being thrown at them for free of price (DLCs) and when the next gen version comes out boom... the more meaningful DLC will start coming out for a price, veteran players being pulled back into the mix along with many others who were waiting to get the decent version of this game for their platform (PC users) and the list can go on and on. The life expectancy of this game is 2-4 years considered the size of it and the countless opportunities for further expansions... you can't expect them to throw the major updates at you just now... they were conducting massive research into what people wants to see in this game and well lets face it... even with leaving a fraction of the full developing team employed on the updates it's a piece of cake to expand the game whatever the future updates are holding. Be patient, play something else and then get back to it later.

Why cant we expect a major update right now? We arent expecting a major update, we were expecting whats in the major update on the day the stupid game came out!! Conducting massive research on an almost year old game?!! Are you daft? That is not how this works, in any way!! Its stupid to think that by coming up with excuses for R*, you are helping. If anything your post would make vets (like myself) even more unlikely to come back! Seriously though, 68 days of game play tells me all I need to know about you. You're a fanboi. As for the topic, OP is spot on. This game is as fun as getting kicked in the face by a mentally challenged moose. The only people who still think its fun, are guys like above, who play TDM 10hrs aday.

What showed them at launch is something they can build on PLUS something that proceeded any other games of such genre before (matter in fact this crap is more profitable than ANY movies or games out there). They are lucky as f*ck to make even more to kick off Q4 with a massive bump due to the fact that next gen consoles just come out. Golden opportunity. You are the perfect consumer of games. Some of us actually do like the game, but feel that R* f***ed us (which to any consumer with common sense, would agree). Not "b**thing about it" is exactly why the problems exists that they do. Everyone complaining about 100 things of no consequence, while staying silent about the real problems. R* did what they did and WE, the consumer literally paid for it. Hackers hand out cash, R* punishes everyone. Grievers grieve and the player pays for it, in fact R* made it worse! Everything released, has been a draw to cash cards. Everything about this game (when you see it for what it is, a game) is aimed at getting everything from us, while not offering much of anything!!

A fanboi is someone who is unusually attracted or devoted to a particular technology or tech company, including video games and sports teams.

 

Its a real term and is befitting of many. Especially in gaming! If you find no fault in GTA5 for instance, you are a fanboi.

 

 

Your expectation is slightly surreal. Premium high-end services for £40?... you lost your mind. It's just a damn game yet you making this subject very personal haha. I always felt GTAV felt stale because it didn't significantly evolve from its predecessor. The gameplay has been nearly the same since Vice City, with only details added to it. No major gameplay changes have occurred.

 

It didn't help that Los Santos is also the second city in a row we've re-visited.....

It's buggy. It's laggy. It's incomplete. It's hacked to f*ck and it wont be complete until long after the next-gen release. Which will no doubt take priority over the current version.

Yeah, it's very much run it's course for me, but I haven't found anything to replace it with yet. I normally play one thing at a time till its done and then move on, maybe revisiting it if its worthy but i dont think I'll come back to this. I really wanted to like it, it's a shame.

At least I'll get the hallway and the top floor bathroom decorated now gta is done, nothing can distract me. The occasional 'Columbo' aside, obviously.

GTAO (I know the title says GTAV, but I feel GTAO is the most relevant ATM) has endless amounts of potential. Why that potential is being neglected is beyond me. Maybe it's waiting for the release of Next Gen to really pick up, or maybe R* is just in over their heads.

 

The delay of heists for the 27th time points to both. Besides the longtime mythical heists, there is SO much that could be added to this game. A detailed character creator could appease alot of us. The ability to travel to different cities. Better, more intriguing missions. Unique weapons. Personalizing apartments. Scuba gear.

 

GTAO needs this stuff! While I don't feel the game has ran its course, I do think its a much lesser version than what it could be 1 year after release. I hope that, eventually, we'll start getting what we always wanted: an awesome, virtual world full of life and activities.

I think Rockstar wants to keep the game "realistic", and that is hurting it. They don't let you store any vehicle in your garage (cop car, tanks, etc), they don't give you crazy costumes (cop, military, superhero etc), they do things that keep you from continually having fun (like replaying a mission immediately, or making a playlist with the same mission over and over). There is a lot they could add to make it more fun. Look at the speculation threads or youtube videos and there are good ideas (Zombies, casino, other DLC ideas.) I feel like they have gotten a little too greedy, with things like limiting how often you sell cars (even ones you purchased), replaying missions (as mentioned before), the small amount of money you get from robbing armored cars and liquor stores. While I enjoy the DLCs they have given out (for free), I feel like they are a weak substitute for the Heists they promised, and keep delaying. It feels like they are just developing for the next gen now. I still enjoy the game. I like it because they have created a world where I can create my own fun. I dont need a storyline. But if they dont bring something more than just these car DLCs, I can see a lot of ppl moving on to other games.
