Anyone else feel GTA 5 has run it's course?

Seems like companies can only keep the consumer interested for about a year and for some even less. In my opinion there is nothing R* can release that will keep me playing this game when I can shoot people in CoD/BF and drive in Forza without having to worry about things being delayed for almost a year.

GTAO is the same thing every single day and it's boring as can be. My friends and crew and I are mostly just doing silly/stupid things. I can't even tell you the last time I played a mission. What's the point? I've played every mission countless times and I don't need the money or RP;

A game like this can't be full blown right before a new generation of consoles are coming out, so R* created a dumbed down version for current gen that was expected to draw much attention for the first 6-12 months with new players constantly being pulled into the mix. Expecting some who started playing it from the beginning to put it aside after a while, keeping some interested with little dust particles being thrown at them for free of price (DLCs) and when the next gen version comes out boom... the more meaningful DLC will start coming out for a price, veteran players being pulled back into the mix along with many others who were waiting to get the decent version of this game for their platform (PC users) and the list can go on and on. The life expectancy of this game is 2-4 years considered the size of it and the countless opportunities for further expansions... you can't expect them to throw the major updates at you just now... they were conducting massive research into what people wants to see in this game and well lets face it... even with leaving a fraction of the full developing team employed on the updates it's a piece of cake to expand the game whatever the future updates are holding. Be patient, play something else and then get back to it later.

Lets not get dillusioned and jump into some childish emotional nonsense here. What R* needs in money. And a lot of them. What showed them at launch is something they can build on PLUS something that proceeded any other games of such genre before (matter in fact this crap is more profitable than ANY movies or games out there). They are lucky as f*ck to make even more to kick off Q4 with a massive bump due to the fact that next gen consoles just come out. Golden opportunity. It's fun, and still has the potential to be fun. But the ship has sailed for any developer intervention. Now, the only entertainment you can find in this game is probably through glitches and friends.

 

The fact of the matter is that Rockstar should have released the game completed. Not just develop it halfway and let paying customers do the test driving and bug reporting.

 

We still have hackers and modders loose, the matchmaking system is still as useful as a screen door on a submarine, the after-game voting screen still displays all kinds of different game types instead of the one that you joined to play, everyone still has kill-on-sight mentality and there isn't any incentive to change that, the economy is screwed to hell, still no heists, etc.

 

I know they can't make it perfect, but there are a lot of fixable excuses as to why it's not.

The amount of money Rockstar must be sinking into trying to control and patch these modders wreaking havoc are causing massive problems. It wouldn't surprise me if they completely wash their hands of ps3 and xbox and throw all their efforts into new gen consoles instead. It's a huge money sink for them, and at the rate the game is going they're not going to want to bother with it anymore.

 

What people forget is the amount of hours that need to be sunk into coding, fixing glitches, mods, etc. The hours it takes to completely code new missions, new dlc content etc. People just assume this kind of thing is a click and drag type deal. This sh*t takes months to create. I think everyone is far too quick to bitch and moan when they are probably doing the best they can.

 

Yes, they have a lot to improve on and I'm not defending their lack of decent servers and their inability to care about their clients. I just think everyone needs to give these people a damn break because they're probably working long hours with not enough money.

I played GTA 4 for five years thanks to Multiplayer and you didnt get your own character. So if I invested all that gaming time to GTA 4,

DLC's are not the reason I bought this game. I bought GTAV for the Deathmatches and if they give us a filter, I will be playing this game for a longer than a year.

To answer the question, yes, I think it has. Honestly, I never thought it was that great to begin with. I've always thought Online was just a glorified Campaign mode. And only slightly glorified. Everything you can do, buy, or steal in Online, you can already do, buy, and steal in single player. Only difference is, it's easier in single player. Why would I grind half a million in Online to get an Infernus, when I can just steal one for free in Campaign? What's more, even the ridiculously overpriced stuff in single player (*ahem*, 10 million Z-Type?) doesn't even matter because I can always get billions from Lester's missions anyway.

 

Speaking of missions, Campaign has WAY better ones. Cinematic, fun, worthwhile, would play again just for kicks. And is it just me, or are the heists in Campaign much better than the ones in- OH THAT'S RIGHT.

 

Literally the only reasons to play Online I can think of are interaction with other players, the chance to play as a female protagonist for once, and..... uhh........ And, the, uh......

 

Sure, there's some rare instances where I'll have an urge to hop Online and do a few missions with people, but the feeling QUICKLY dies down. There's no balance to the weapon system, free-aim is a complete mess, the physics engine is frustrating (realistic ragdoll animations while my retard character tumbles down a hill for 30 seconds? OMG, SOOO COOOOL!), not to mention the fact that everything GTAV tries to do, another game already does lightyears better. (Meh, except for that "sandbox" thing, I suppose.)

 

A good story? I recommend Bioshock, not GTA's tired, cliche crap (seriously, why does everyone always faun over the story? It's always garbage.) Good free-aim controls? I go Uncharted. While we're at it, Uncharted has amazing weapon balance, which Naughty dog continually tweaks to keep things even and interesting. No single weapon is dominant. Plus, the characters aren't slow retards that can't climb the smallest hill. What about stealth? Go play Batman.

 

I don't know what it is, but even from the beginning, I was already tired of this game. Which baffles me, because I played the sh*t out of GTAIV, yet, I'm already up to my eyeballs in frustration with Los Santos. Maybe it's the fact that it's the second time a city gets re-visited, almost like Rockstar can't tell New York and Los Angeles AREN'T the only cities in the world. The countryside was nice for a while, but I already had that better in San Andreas.

 

Unless we get some map additions, REAL gameplay changes (give us a f*cking katana and swordplay mechanics, whatever, just BREAK THE MONOTONY), better missions (*ahem*, mission creator?) and, I don't know, make stealth mean something (alternate way to do missions?), I probably won't return for a long time, if ever. I don't even give a sh*t about heists anymore, that's how late they are. And they're unlikely to be better than anything Single Player has to offer anyway. There's no point in playing Online anymore as it is. I already have all the cars I want and don't need anymore. I already have all the guns and all the mods and all the money I'll ever need because there isn't anything to spend it on anymore. The only thing left is to grief players in freeroam, but sh*t, if that's the ONLY thing to do, there's something seriously wrong here.

One of two things could have happened;

 

a.) They wait to release the game for next gen: they iron out the bugs and glitches(most of them) and polish it up nice. and from last october, to now, and until they released it on Next(current, WTF ever) gen, people see R* as the bad guy for holding out - people bitch and complain about how sh*tty R* is and why they're taking 50 years to release GTA 5/GTAO

 

b.) They release it now (last year), "unfinished" so to speak, just so players can play it, have some fun, and yes, basically be the BETA testers for the game; report bugs, R* see's what works or doesn't work, so that they can make a nice, polished version for next/current gen. But still, people bitch and complain about basically being a beta tester and all that sh*t. A free beta tester at that, as in: we, the players don't get paid to do this "beta testing", that's why i say people who think we should pay to play this game online are either stupid or out of their f*cking minds.

 

They took option B, so I believe firmly that the next/current gen versions will be significantly improved. "Oh yeah right it's just gonna be the same game with better graphics" Maybe, to start off with, but I believe it will flesh out into something better. R* did what they did and WE, the consumer literally paid for it. Hackers hand out cash, R* punishes everyone. Grievers grieve and the player pays for it, in fact R* made it worse! Everything released, has been a draw to cash cards. Everything about this game (when you see it for what it is, a game) is aimed at getting everything from us, while not offering much of anything!!

A fanboi is someone who is unusually attracted or devoted to a particular technology or tech company, including video games and sports teams.

 

Its a real term and is befitting of many. Especially in gaming! If you find no fault in GTA5 for instance, you are a fanboi.

In response to those asking why others who are complaining are still here: at least, myself, wants to see this game get better. And as a consumer who bought the product, I want to stay up-to-date with what is going on, and at the same time I have the right to complain when I feel I'm being cheated by something that I purchased.

 

As someone who has sunk in many hours into the game, I can say that, without new content and Rockstar's part of destroying what fun there was (such as opening the back of a Titan, which was the sole reason I got the game, actually, after watching Acheivement Hunter do it), the sense of fun depleted. Unless you have friends, the game is very hard to coordinate and cooperate with other players. Also, after grinding, my opinion of the game dwindled into what it is now, not that payouts being low to increase sales of cash cards is helping.

 

Now, if I need money, I just do glitches. Shame that I can't do it through having fun with heists and a variety of missions with other players, yet I have to do it through these loopholes Rockstar makes when updating the game and patching other glitches.

 

The missions, also, are not very fun. As I posted in a different topic, the formula is the same for a great number of missions:

 

Go to w

Kill x

Collect y

(Mabye evade cops)

Bring y to z

 

Rooftop Rumble, Ticket to Elysium, Potshot, Mixed with Coke (?) and countless others follow this formula. They're not missions as much as they are glorified fetch quests, and they're not entertaining. And having to resort to doing Rooftop Rumble countless times a day (not including when the game hiccups and destroys the document for some reason or just decides that the team ran out of lives, even though there are players still alive) in order to scrounge up enough money to buy one car or an apartment really ruins the immersion and gameplay.

I felt it ran it's course a very long time ago, I haven't touched it in around two weeks now, I went out and bough myself NFS Rivals for something different to do.

I think Rockstar have kind of left the important sh*t too long and now I guess we're all feeling there is a possibility that Heists may or may not actually arrive.

I don't know if you all feel the same way, however I'm getting pretty sick of the DLC Rockstar are releasing; it's all like "Have a new super car, have some new guns and we'll throw in some new outfits." That's all good, however it bankrupts me within the hour of release and then I get bored again. I want something different to be doing, I done the races, I've done the missions, now I feel like I have nothing else to be doing on the game and hence why I haven't touched it. I want more missions, that are very different to the current ones, I don't want to kill someone, take the package and deliver it, to me that's boring. I'm thinking Heists may not be a possibility for the old gen consoles now. It's just a thought, but I see no reason why they have delayed it for so long. You can argue they may have delayed it for bug fixes etc, yet I doubt it would take this long and I highly doubt they announce a release date for Heists (Spring just gone) if they knew they would have to continue fixing.

GTAO is going to be a long time growing game. I'm sure we'll see more maps/expansion to the GTA world. Plenty more missions/jobs will be added. The adding of the new jobs today or yesterday was nice. I enjoyed what I've played of them. Vehicles, weapons, clothes, masks, face paint, and all the accessories we've seen thus far will grow.

 

I think more things like the High Life parachute bag should be added, since after level 135 there's nothing to get for leveling.

I'm still hoping they add the list of characters from single player, and all NPC's from both SP and MP to an online list of characters we can use and change anytime we want, like in RDR.

 

This list. I'm sure we won't get to be animals, but I didn't feel like removing them from the copied list.

If they added this list for us to use, I may consider buying the game again for the PS4.

Because RDR and GTA IV weren't mission based games where the missions were boring as hell. They were more about, Here's a map, some things spawn in it, have fun. Do whatever, it doesn't matter.

GTA V is taking itself very seriously, and thinks that it works. It doesn't. A year into GTA V, I get crazy bored when I play it. 4 years into GTA IV, I still had a ton of fun in it. Even now, I can still have a ton of fun on it

 

 

By the time GTA Online is fixed, I'll be playing other games, Mostly Destiny and Forza Horizon 2, and I doubt I'll ever put my GTA V disc back in my xbox. It'll just collect dust.
