Last time I checked I was a she, and never in my life had I had a DLC forced up on me in order to play the game online.

First off i apologize for calling you a he but what do you mean by forced? Im just saying that in order for you to continue playing the newer stuff online your required to download both.
You can't play Grand Theft Auto Online without the patch, as you need to download the patch. A DLC is optional. A patch is not.

(Speaking of PS3 here, btw.)

Well maybe i could be wrong because i have XBOX and its different but we are talking GTA right? The update HAS content in it that has to be downloaded which IS qualified as DLC which R* makes free.

usually DLC is separated from patch , in case of gta IV episodes except EFLC standalone

but in case V & online , the DLC is paired with the patch

On the PlayStation 3 when you start the game (GTA V, not Online), you get a prompt that there's a new update available. Which you have to download. I haven't tried otherwise, but I don't think you can cancel that so I think you're practically forced to download it to even play story line. But it can be different on Xbox, yes.On XBOX, we have to not only update the game at the start of booting GTA online, but before that we also have to download the Updates from the Marketplace like you do for DLC but wasn't thinking about the differences in consoles when mentioning at first. But to the host's question, they need to can that DOM guy from youtube & GTA because hes a cancer to R* & is messing up they're business.

We only have the update prompt, which is everything at once. So hence why some of us on the PS3 don't think it are DLCs because they're not "separated" from the "update".

likewise , PS3 cannot sent voice mail whereas Xbox 360 DLCs need downloaded separately

What has been leaked?

Nothing lately, the host was talking about how DOM is known for leaking out content which he has done in the past and R* has to change dates & plans because of that.

LOL, GTA will never get DLC by your definition then. All content will come bundled with a patch, your DLC's included.

Your going to be hard pressed convincing rational people "new content" is not DLC. How it's delivered or what it is bundled with is completely irrelevant and does not negate the fact it is what it is......dlc.

FWIW they were called expansion packs long before add ons

I say they're updates. Even if they are separate (at least on Xbox), they're mandatory to download if you want to play GTA Online...online.

Then again, why complain? They're freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

*And they'll occupy your free time for an hour or two

Don't blame Turdislive for this.

This delay is the work of the hackers and modders.

Thanks for nothing dickheads.

I don't see how "new content" cannot be considered dlc, just b/c it's not distributed sepearately or is mandatory......but then some of ya think GTAO is free so

Miss Malevolent

I see a lot of people saying that the delays are do to the hacking and modding.

Has Rockstar ever said that? Or hinted it at it in their posts or response posts?

Cause if they haven't, I'm going to just chalk it up to Rockstar having a difficult time and/or incompetence with the code.

Yes because this clearly makes sense. Because a few people reveal something rockstar will make the whole community suffer just to make them look stupid.

well no, but it's not impossible that R* would delay a DLC during an active money glitch because by now most cash card sales rely on these overpriced and often limited time DLC'S

though I don't think it even comes close to explaining the many delays we had, should be days or weeks or months at most.

not well over a year like with heists

so...

the apps. on my phone constantly "update."

sometimes they are bug fixes. other times new contant is added.

NONE of it will ever be considered "DLC"

--

how can it be a "donut hole" if the hole is in the donut? shouldn't it be called a "donut ball?"

also... has R* ever called it "DLC?"

OT: I think they release updates whenever they' are ready. I doubt YouTube has anything to do with it. - I also don't understand all the YouTube hate. if I could make money buy posting videos, I would. are people just that jealous of these guys?

10 years ago people were posting decent videos & not getting anything in return accept a few likes & a handful of racial slurs. I like the way youtube is going. it's good for amateur film makers, unheard of musical acts, or just creative weirdos to have somewhere to be seen. I'm not mad at any of them for making a buck for their "work."

I'm curious about what you guys consider to be a "real job." does your grandfather have to approve of Doms source of income to be valid?

(I have never, or don't not plan on watching any YT videos about GTAV/O. - twerk vids. #forever)

I worked in the video game industry for 3 years.

Company's plan things like DLC so far in advance and work for so long on even the tiniest update.

No chance in hell Rockstar would delay anything for any reason other than QA or Dev concerns.

GTAO is not free. You're grouping me with the wrong people :/

All I'm sayin' is that a whole bunch of retextured clothes, some new cars, apartments, etc...not worthy of the DLC mark. Why are they called updates by Rockstar themselves, hmmm?

Updates =/= Patches =/= DLC

Updates + Patches =/= DLC

R should just stop putting unreleased DLC files in the current builds, so the only ones who could leak would be R employees..

But that would mean more upload work next patch...Derp.

soooo?

Only thing that hold up updates is the people who are watching their calendars every month...

"last Update was 2nd Tuesday in February, so the next one SHOULD BE 2nd Tuesday in March..."

"okay this Update was May 5th, so 30 EXACT DAYS a Update WILL BE EXACTLY JUNE 5th"

"High Life Update is coming 4/20, BECAUSE that's what weed means, everybody likes weed"

Assumptions makes assholes, end of story.

Oh and to solve the DLC vs UPDATE arguments? DLC are optional content (usually purchasable) for a player to have in any game, Updates are mandatory for a player to continue playing a game. A Police DLC for $29.99 is at your discretion to add to your gaming experience you would still be allowed to play with others. But an update to patch and lower cops accuracy would be required by everyone who owns the game. This why all the cars and weapons we have received so far have been included for free, because you know damn well you wouldn't pay for any of that crap, but its just enough to shut you up til next month

When DLC is leaked by Dumbf*ckLive and other youtubers, it's possible that when Rockstar hear about the leaks, they can just delay the dlc which was possible to be released the Tuesday after, to whatever date they wanted to? Think about it, Rockstar try hard to be silent about their dlcs and their games with the latest leak just saying "DLC pack" and I don't think they like it when youtubers leak the details, so they troll us by delaying the dlc, making us think that the dlc was fake. What do you think?

No. Not releasing the DLC costs them money, in both the short term and long term. It does absolutely no good for them. They certainly wouldn't refuse to release something just to piss off Youtubers and their fans. It has nothing to do with it.

They delay DLC, and game releases, and heists, and everything else they do, ever, because despite incredible talent in their creative department, they kind of suck as a company. They are disorganized, they have terrible conditions and hours for their lower level workers, they have no idea how to properly communicate with their consumer base, they have no idea how to properly communicate with other departments within their own company, they have no idea how to meet basic deadlines, etc etc..

They have had these problems since GTA IV, but hopefully the PR calamity and lack of consumer trust (not to mention the incomplete product they know they released to us) will motivate them to restructure. Keep the creative guys, but get some better administrators and executives and such. Because it will be tough to compete with the other gaming companies if nothing they plan to release ever comes out on time, and stock holder pressures force them to release products that aren't even finished despite being behind schedule by considerable amounts of time. GTA V is still a great game, but it's untouched potential is glaring. It still does not offer as much content as GTA San Andreas did, and despite having some incredible elements, is the first GTA since GTA 2 to not live up to expectations.*

*It should be noted that some were disappointed in GTA IV, but Rockstar was pretty straightforward about what to expect in that game. That it would be largely story driven, and that due to the switch to entirely new graphics and physics engines, it would not contain the same level of activities as San Andreas. Thus, because Rockstar was mostly honest with us about what the game would and would not contain, it gets a pass. GTA V was hyped as the San Andreas of the PS3/Xbox360 generation, and it didn't even come remotely close to matching up to Vice City. Everything about this game, and the reason many of us still play it, is about its untapped potential, which because of periodic updates and a port to more powerful consoles, is still possible to tap. All hope is not lost, but our faith is fading quick.

Lmao that's a lot of assumptions coming from somebody who has zero credibility.

Seriously though, did you just write all that thinking you're 100% right?

I believe that Rockstar would never officially release a statement saying that the "delays" are due to the hacking and modding issues currently present in GTAO, as it would be admitting failure and some form of culpability on their part.

That being said, the suggested "difficult time and/or incompetence with the code" is probably related to fixing the hacking/modding issues and exploits. There are quite a few, and I believe that they're attempting to just release one "fix-all" patch, which will not really do that, but it will cover most of the major issues ("God Mode" and the like).

You realise guys like domislive make substantial income from YouTube. He may never have to work a real job in his life. Not quite peasant level :).

That's a job he'll have until people get fed up with him. No career there.

LOL no sh*t. You just described anyone's career in the entertainment industry.

Derp this restaurant will only be successful as long as people like it's food.

Deeerp this video game will only be played until people get tired of it.
