Give Me Liberty [Update Concept]

Give Me Liberty Update

The Give Me Liberty Update completely revamps the GTA Online experience, and opens up Liberty City and its criminal experts to current residents of Los Santos.

The Revamp
GTA Online will now be split into two modes. "Casual" remains the same as it always has done. Auto aim, GTAV's driving model, co-op missions and so on. Everything here remains the same for the players that currently enjoy playing.

Additionally, a "Normal" mode has been added. Normal changes a lot of things.

- Locked to Free-Aim for the most balanced gameplay.
- Missions are no longer separately instanced and co-operative, they now play out in the session as competitive missions. For example, previously, Gerald would call you to steal a case. Now, players are evenly split. Some steal the case, some defend the case.
- As a result of missions being competitive, completing a mission in Normal gives a x3 RP and Cash bonus.
- The driving model has been reverted back to GTA IV's driving model, with minor changes such as reduced body roll and higher top speeds.
The intentions of this are to make the game less focused on time, and more on player skill.

Liberty City
Players can now visit any of the three public airfields, and catch a flight to Liberty City.

Liberty City opens up 40 new competitive missions, all ambient in the game world, similar to Los Santos.

Missions will be recieved from various new contacts

Brucie will e-mail you with car theft missions.
Little Jacob will text you with drug delivery missions, and retrieving other gang's drugs.
Phil Bell will call you with some higher-tier missions, such as watching over a large drug deal.
Petrovic will call you for a wide variety of missions, such as destroying cars and raiding LCPD convoys.

Liberty City opens up new safehouses, ranging from a $70,000 apartment in Northwood to a $500,000 condo in Middle Park.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thoughts? I wanted to make an update concept that isn't the typical "lol 80s stuff", and something that would actually bring players back, without requiring a huge amount of effort from Rockstar.

Petrovic's lines can be reused from GTA4, and Rockstar can write the texts and emails for Brucie etc. without needing the voice actor.

I'd take this over heists any day.

Liberty City in GTAO?

That's actually a good idea. Hopefully LC comes on Next Gen.

Having Liberty City sounds good, but realistically, it'll never happen. Games don't have unlimited memory. OnO

What are you talking about?

You do realise games can handle a million GTAV maps, right?

It's called LOD and draw distance. Not everything is loaded in at once. The game only loads what's around you. Liberty City can be added a billion times and the game would not crash any more than it does now.

Trust me, this update is entirely possible, from a hardware standpoint and developer time and assets standpoint.

What is everyone's obsession with having Liberty City in GTA Online?

I don't get it, if you want to go to Liberty City then play GTA IV. I mean I get wanting stuff from IV implemented into online (vehicles, guns, clothes, contacts ect.) but I don't get what the addition of the whole map would achieve. Hell I remember playing free roam in IV and most of time people were at just the Airport. I don't get why people think in Online where the majority of players stay within Los Santos that adding Liberty City would change up gameplay.

I just don't see R* implementing Liberty City just so one out of 16 players can free-roam it and be all nostalgic about it.

Also the driving mechanics in IV weren't that great. Plus to incorporate those physics in V would require time so I doubt R* would put it in the game just for people who want a "classic" server. This isn't Runescape people it's Grand Theft Auto.

Opinions, Silnev.

Many of us think GTA5's driving mechanics suck, and want GTA4's back as they took more skill and it's way more satisfying to pull off cool tricks.

GTA4's map for me is a lot better than Los Santos. You may have gone into Free-Mode and just played in the airport, but me and friends have done Team Mafia Work in Bohan, which is amazing. Cutting through apartment buildings, alleyways, climbing up to rooftops etc. It's all a much better, more detailed and better designed map than GTAV.

What's better about the map in GTA IV? It's just a city. Compared to Los santos, Liberty city is boring and monotonous.

Also, driving in IV took more skill?? No. The cars were a lot slower, and taking a corner just meant going through it slower with a little oversteer.

There's no possible way that this idea could be bad, or backfire. You stated that having the gtaiv map wouldn't hurt the game. If that's true, then I see no negatives with this idea.

I'm training to be better at free aim so this is a good idea.

I see your point. Liberty City was already made in HD so why couldn't rockstar add this with little to no effort...(honestly I have no idea) Seems like it would make an easier dlc then say vice city or Las venturas... But in all honesty I don't care as long as its something NEW. Getting f*cking sick of the same missions from the same contacts... Also this car NEEDS to be added

Well fine, but what about the sheer size of the update?

No one wants to download an update that's 10+ Gigs.

But maybe people would if it was a GTA:IV map port. who knows?

Firstly saying 4's driving mechanics were better because it took skill is just stupid. I mean I've been playing the TBOGT alot recently and almost all the cars feel and drive exactly the same. All cars rolled way too much (with the manana or the virgo it made sense since they're land-barges but when the limo, apc and the comet move in that fashion then there is a problem) and they were all weightless (tell me why I should be able to roll the APC because I hit a curb?). And pulling off cool tricks? Yes if I was going over a stunt jump not when I was cutting a route across a park only to hit a small hill and do a barrel roll in the air in the schafter. Apart from the intense motion blur most of IV's driving mechanics were just ridiculous and required little to no skill to master. However I will say that the body roll could have returned to V as all the cars have the same problem IV had in which it seems most of the cars have super stiff racing suspension which is just as unrealistic as iv's lack of any suspension.

Now when I talked about people playing only in the airport I mean that I would just join a session and the majority of players would be at the airport. I myself would go and get the Sultan RS near that mansion then race around Algonquin. So it's not exactly like I would go there on my own accord (except for every single deathmatch that I joined). It's more detailed because almost every building is the same. Unless the building was used for a mission in single player it was unlikely it could be entered but even then if you went into one skyscraper you went through them all. The only building that stood out was that apartment block in Algonquin. Apart from that there wasn't really much diversity when it came to enter-able buildings. But like above V could of at least had the restaurants interiors from IV. Beside that I think we got a much more detailed map in V then in IV.

GTA IV driving took no skill to master?

hahahaha, I wonder why I finished races several minutes ahead of others in IV's multiplayer. While I'm spectating they're going into corners at high speeds in a smashed up Infernus.

IV took much more skill, that's why you're complaining about it. You say it's slow, that's because you're slow. I learned to drive in the game, so I took corners faster than everyone else. The skill lies in taking corners as close to the inside as possible, without hitting it, and applying minimal amount of brakes and managing acceleration.

If GTA4 takes no skill to master, why did this happen? Because I was faster, there's a wider margin for error. This never happens in V because everyone goes max speed around every corner with ease.

That's exaggerating. No, you cannot go through a corner full speed.

You are explaining driving like it's our first encounter with a car. It's called a racing line, and you didn't invent it, so enough with the preaching, ok? :)

What bothers me about this video is how the cars moves when he looses control. It's just turning around a vertical axis like the road is icy. Not to mention, that's a sports car and yet, it wobbles on the road like jello. Also, a car like that doesn't lean so much when cornering. Which is why I prefer driving in V. The cars have different suspensions, different drivetrain, and even different types of engines (electrical, gas).

Yes to liberty city, no to free aim and driving physics that were impossible in real life, no road car has two foot of suspension travel and no anti roll bar fitted which is what would be required to allow roll angles like gta 4

I like Liberty City, but I think we've seen enough of it for the time being. Go play IV if you want Liberty City and it's driving physics back.

Exactly. If we get new content, then let it be NEW. I don't want a re-skinned city from the last game.

No, he crashed, that's why he spun out. He doesn't just magically regain control like in GTAV.

Every single car handles the same in GTAV. There's no difference aside from acceleration and top speed. Entity vs Adder? The Entity will win because it's faster. Suspension and drivetrain means f*ck all.

In GTA IV, every car had unique traits. a Blista Compact turns corners better and faster than anything else. The Infernus was the fastest, yet the Turismo was better around corners. I could use a Super GT or Turismo, and beat Comets and Infernuses because the game is based around driver preference and skill, neither of these things appear in V.

If you take a Turismo offroad, you're gonna fail compared to someone who takes a Rancher. In V, the person with thesupercar can climb up mountains with virtually no problems. No losing control, nothing. The person with the Rancher struggles to climb up a simple slope. bcaus GTAV's driving doesn't account for suspension, power, oversteer understeer, none of that. It just thinks "yep this car's faster, it climbs up walls."

You're criticising IV for being unrealistic, while being in favour of GTAV.

GTA4's driving is simcade. It takes elements of real life but keeps a fun arcade experience. You can pull off things in IV you couldn't in real life, but you still have to think about things that you would in real life.

GTAV just treats cars as some annoyance to get from A to B. It doesn't include it in the actual gameplay like GTA4 did. You can't criticse GTA4 driving for being unrealistic while you're in favour of supercars driving up mountains, Issis staying completely still while a Patriot smashed into them, taking corners without braking, and cars that look and handle like Hot Wheels.

Have you actually played GTA V and driven these cars? The Entity isn't the King of the superclass because of speed or acceleration, but down to its traction.

@that video: it was his fault, because he countersteered in the spin, instead of letting the car spin in right direction.

Granted, the driving physics are a bit unrealistic in GTA4.

But i would like to see LC in the game, as different session.

I disagree. I think GTA IV's driving physics were much better than GTA V's, albeit with some extreme body roll that GTA IV had. People complain about GTA IV's driving physics because they cannot drive worth sh*t in GTA IV.
