MaddFool
To anyone who's being in the Marine Corps how was bootcamp and you got any advice to keep the DIs from singling you out cus I've heard stories from retired Marines saying that sometimes a DI would single them out and give them hell. Was it hard for you, or did you have trouble keeping up with things, and how was The Crucible? f*ck it I'll take experiences from any branch of the military or if there's no military men in the forums I want to hear what you think about joining up and if you would ever do it. I ship out to boot camp in 2 months and I want to hear some stories.

TEoS
I would recommend getting the biggest Eagle Globe and Anchor tattoo you can possibly get directly in the middle of your chest, like Superman's symbol. It's sort of a secret code for drill instructors to leave you alone because you are obviously in the know. K^2
I was considering their officers' program, mostly to go through their flight training, so I've looked into it in the past. From talking to friends and friends of friends, I've gathered that enlisted basic training is hell, where they beat anything human out of you. But officers' is not as bad. Which path are you considering? Prior to filing a bug against any of my code, please consider this response to common concerns.
universetwisters
A Marine recruiter tried to call me tonight at dinner to sign me up and I told him to go f*ck himself. But really though, the Marines aren't really the best if you want to go into the armed forces. The Marines are always the first to arrive on the scene, first to get shot at, and so forth. And that's coming from my brother, who used to be a Marine. You could always look into the Army if you wanna do the same thing and more without getting on the front lines first. My dad was a paratrooper after Vietnam and my grandad was in the signal corps during WW2, both army divisions.

MaddFool
@TEoS haha yeh I would've if I didn't have to already get a waiver for my current tattoo @K^2 I want to do infantry carnal preferably MOS 0331 you know carry that bigass machine gun @Universetwisters Damn how come you never thought of joining up since it seems it would run in the family? @GunWrath You were a Marine mad Respect
universetwisters
@Universetwisters Damn how come you never thought of joining up since it seems it would run in the family? I'd love to be a Paratrooper but I'm not cut out for military stuff like that, what with my sh*tty eye and piss poor reflexes. Plus, if I become a Pathfinder like my dad was when he was in the army, I'll probably end up dropping a tank onto an orphanage. @shootpeoplenotdope - Wow, you're quite the edgy one. universetwisters
Well that's sure vague. We try to counter your points, you completely ignore them. Of course, this is your typical behavior coming from your Hot Topic-branded teen. @MaddFool - Good luck in the Marines and stuff. I'm not sure if boot camp'll be too different than Army boot camp, seeing as they're basically the same thing, other than the Army having extra stuff like Airborne school, etc.

I can imagine had my dad still been alive, I might've been more keen into going into the army, even if it would be a desk job. It'd make sense though, seeing as we lived around the Pentagon at the time. But even then, I'd want to be a pathfinder in the 82nd airborne division just like my dad was. If you don't mind me asking did your pops die in combat but if you find that subject touchy I understand I'm just curious cus from the stories I've been told it's hard for soldiers and family losing someone out in the battlefield rather than them passing away with loved ones. Guarding that tomb would make my job hella easier so sh*t I'm going to look forward to that and honestly I'm choosing infantry because I've found being in the front lines to be sort of like a hard adrenaline rush although I'm prolly gonna be having second thoughts when I'm actually out there. Perfect example that motherf*ckers on this forum don't bother reading the original post. I never asked what military branch to join I'm asking to hear people's military experiences, if they have had any, or just plain opinions if you had bothered reading you would see that I'm not too far from being already shipped out but that's the internet for you. @universetwisters Naw I'm all set to join them already but I don't think I would've been cut out for airborne missions or other sh*t like that I'm better on my feet. @TEoS Hahah oh sh*t wtf that video's hella random

I dunno if it's too late to change though Marines have pretty much the same jobs as any branch. Personnel and Admin Intelligence Infantry Logistics MAGTF MARSOC list goes on.. though you really can't decide what MOS you want.. you can sign for a certain MOS field, such as 03xx but after SOI, you may or may not be allowed to pick your desired job within that field. This only relates to Active Duty.. though Reservists can choose their exact jobs.

Anyway, closest military experience I have was a three-day induction course for a summer challenge thing with the Territorial Army back in '09. To sum it up; we'd get sh*t-faced in the barracks' bar at night (fun), then get up at 6am for a 2-mile-run (not so fun). So yeah, wasn't really for me. But I do have huge respect for the men and women whose job it is to put their lives on the line. Mr. Scratch 1 bash the fash m8s
