Osho
OP is a dumbass; plain and simple! R* introduced some of the unique and interesting features in SA simply to show how 'hood life' feels like. I mean, its so obvious during the early missions, when CJ learns how the gang members are recognised by their hood clothing, gangsta physique, etc. So to pretend CJ without any of the customizations, seems to be retarded thought, to say the least. I absolutely will not do that. Its like saying, Tommy would be a mediocre character if R* didn't mash the empire building aspect into his tale of revenge, or if the story wasn't set in the 80s, but continued in the LC!!!! Sounds ridiculous, isn't it? CJ doing all the customizations aren't an immersion breaker but something players can optionally DO when seen from the perspective of living the hood life. It was just perfect and something the players could never imagine doing as Tommy, Claude nor Niko.

Every GTA fan understands that Rockstar attempts to make the setting as believable and real as possible. SA being set during the 90's at the height of the gang warfare, obviously these customizations and features made perfect sense and supposed to represent the gang life more closely through the characters storyline in Los Santos. Just like my example of Tommy, some of these Customizations would never make much sense for Tommy in Vice City, more than the empire building aspect which was relevant to his storyline as a character. Basically, OP doesn't make any sense, thus there is no question about difference of opinion here, since its all about the setting and the story where one can easily get the idea behind introducing these things to make the game much more immersive through the character. Not me. All I told you is that you need to chill out and grow up because you're getting upset and defensive over a peripheral character from a video game when it's not even a big deal. You're the one acting childish right now. You do this sh*t in nearly every other topic. Not only do you defend a character and the game in general, you also flame other people when they talk about another character you hate. Based on all this, you're querulous, dogmatic, verbally belligerent, and extremely presumptuous. Never in my life have I known anyone with this egregious misbehavior over some of the most peripheral sh*t ever, especially not over the Internet. Good luck finding life champ. fluffydude51
I disagree. I may sometimes bash CJ about being unexperienced or a wimp, but in reality, CJ was probably the perfect choice for GTA San Andreas. A young boy from the ghetto that returns to his hometown to burry his mother, only to be harassed by corrupt officers and be caught in the middle of a gang warfare, and later have his brother sent to prison. By the end of the game, that same boy will be a millionaire, owning several business accross the state (including a share in a casino), having powerful friends, will eventually become a black version Rambo, his brother will be freed from prison thanks to him, will exact revenge on the people who betrayed him, and will gain everyone's respect. It sounds too good to be true, but CJ did it all! Rockstar had in mind that CJ is young and has zero experience in the things he's going to be involved (unlike Tommy and Claude, both of whom are experienced career criminals), so they built in a skill system for weapons and cars, among other things. As annoying as it can be, it's genius. In the beginning of the game, CJ is out of shape, an awful shooter and an awful driver. He only knows how to fight from the ghetto... But as you progress further, he becomes better and better in every way possible. From an amateur, CJ eventually becomes a professional, and masters various skills in different areas, becoming a "true" GTA protagonist. Let's not forget that CJ was also the first black protagonist of the series. It was a pretty controversial decision at the time, so they had to be carefull with such a drastic change. Unlike Claude and Tommy, both of whom are portrayed as vicious killing machines, Carl is much more peaceful and merciful person. He would avoid a fight whenever he can and would usually try to do what's right (despite being forced to do the exact opposite). The whole story resolves around loyalty for the hood, betrayal, and getting your brother out of prison, while trying to survive the harsh world of San Andreas. CJ never loses his cool, despite being surrounded by various crazy people that can drive anyone insane. I think he did more than okay as the first black protagonist and paved the way for other black characters as well. In conclusion, I'm pretty certain CJ was supposed to be different in contrast to the ruthless killers before and since. He fits in his game just perfectly. Yes, he wasn't as experienced as all the other GTA protagonists, and may sometimes seem naive - but he's got heart, and he showed it on more than one occasion. Most importantly, he proved to everyone that he ain't a "busta", and stayed true to himself, his friends, and his family throughout the whole game, which speaks a lot. Love him or hate him, you gotta respect him Well typed it almost brought a tear to my eye BlackSnow176

You're the drama queen my amigo, because you're the one who called the OP a dumbass over a character you continuously defend. I'm a crybaby? Can you even hear the tone of my comments I post on here? "You're got your ass handed to you by many SA fans here." In what way? Nobody on this topic was talking sh*t to me to begin with. You're the one acting overly dramatic my friend. You defend the story at a point where you talk sh*t to others who point out a few flaws of the video game. Then you vilify other people for liking a character you have a blatant animosity towards. That's what I call a supercilious prick who instigates gratuitous arguments over peripheral sh*t in the most belligerent manner. Your tirades don't faze me a bit. You're just exacerbating your immaturity while running out of real retorts. All I was saying was that if you disagree with the OP, that's cool. But don't go calling people childish names over a video game character, especially since you had already made two posts prior to your current post roughly a year ago. You'll sound less of a querulous drama queen that way. So just chill out and squash it already, alright man? This whole debate is tactless. We cool now? He's the greatest character in GTA history, second is Niko. I will always hate that douche Tommy even if he had the customizations. I hate him because he is a asshole to everybody. He always yells at Ken and mistreats everybody else. Worst character ever. But CJ and everybody else were the greatest. Also, every character in GTA San Andreas were great, except for Ryder. He was/is the worst character of the whole game. He's an unmemorable light-skinned douche who should've been taken completely off this game. He ruined the first half of the story for all of us.
