universetwisters
The thing I like the most about the GTA series in general is the fact that you can roam around and do anything you want, as opposed to other games where you're stuck on a rail. So let's say you beat the first mission. Do you automatically have to do the second one? No. You can do whatever the hell you want, be it start a rampage, speed through oncoming traffic, walk around the map, or even start the second mission. Drunken Cowboy
GTA IV was one of those rare games that had evertyhing: Great setting, great story, great voice acting, great characters, great writing, great map, great physics, great gameplay, great licensed soundtrack, great original soundtrack, great artistic graphics, great technical graphics (at the time of release), great value, and really sucks you in with the daunting amount of scripted and radiant objectives you have. Other GTA games have most or at least some of those aspects. donnits, Payne Killer, B Dawg and 2 others

Im2akillerfish
Freedom, like others have said before me. The other reason for me is I like the stories. The criminal lifestyle, and that you can't always see someones betrayal or death beforehand. Crime pays, but It doesn't pay enough, one could say. Osho
GTA 2, III, VC, SA; Love the freedom, the setting, challenging missions, lengthy gameplay, the variety of tools to create mayhem, driving, characters, dialogues, radio stations, modifications, unrestricted freedom, non-scripted fun, early exploitation glitches ... basically 3D titles are the most creative, and memorable games that I enjoy the most B Dawg

kevin de santa
I disagree I thought the PS2 era games were average at best especially the storys. Couldn't you come up with something a bit less sh*t to say? PS2 GTA's are called classics for a reason. Had they been an average titles, then your precious GTA V would have never really existed!... That's the popularity of these games that they're still regarded as great games.
Queen Elizabeth II
At first (GTA1, GTA2, III, VC) it was freedom, then in SA epic abilities to have fun + great mods and in GTA IV it's freedom and plot. Maxxeine
The main thing I love about GTA is the attention to detail in the maps. Every time I look at a GTA map, it almost makes me drop my jaw at how much it looks like real life, even the 3D universe. There's just so much to look at, so much to explore, it's amazing. HollywoodVice
The unique out-of-the-box experience that no other game can provide. When I first learned of GTA, the III era, I was pretty dang excited. Once I played, I was hooked. I may not be much on video games as a whole, but GTA will always have a place in my heart. Space Cowboy
What I like most is that there are numerous ways in which we can complete missions and other tasks. You don't always have to strictly follow game's instructions and you can complete the particular task in any way you like. This gives GTA games a lot of replayability. And also the fact that there's so much left to do and discover even after completing the story. It's amazing how detailed GTA games are.
kevin de santa
Lol @osho people get so touchy when someone else's OPINION doesn't match theirs. Johan
Most people just enjoy it for the free roam, but I actually look forward to each game because of the storyline, script and everything in between. I'm not much of a freeroam guy unless it's to get collectibles, not many times do I use it for rampages.
Gnocchi Flip Flops
What I loved the most about GTA was the ability to hop into any car that I liked, relax, and cruise anywhere on the map listening to great music and enjoying each car's unique handling. I also love all of the detail Rockstar poured into every GTA's map. However my love for what GTA had to offer kind of took a blow with V. The driving is so damn boring that I don't even have the urge to explore V's map that much anymore. Payne Killer and Aerosmithfan999
