I feel you man. I'm 23 and I feel like I'm the only 23 year old that plays GTA and COD. I pretty much stopped playing COD (except for BO1) because of all the annoying squeakers who claimed they did my mom.

But you're not alone, even though it may seem you are. Sadly we live in a time where parents don't want to be parents and want to give their kids everything they want. No child has any business playing games that involve killing, having sex, doing drugs, etc.

V HoneyBadger V

We're all playing GTA IV.

Some of us can't stand the Saint's Row-style arcadey physics and car handling,

The sh*tty, under-developed, sophomoric humor and satire laden throughout the game,

The content releases of deplorable looking vehicles, stupid costumes and animal masks,

The economy-focused system that can only be fueled by exploiting, relentless mission grinding, or cash card purchase,

^ The whole vibe of the game is "get rich, show off your virtual SWAG you bought with your virtual cash." Only children think being rich means you're inherently reputable.

The lousy community attracted by such a zainy "YouTube-friendly" game

The ever-negligent developer staff,

The technical difficulties

and of course all the problems present in GTA V before you even hit online.

Apart from what you said about driving (it is a bit easy for anyone to play though) I fully agree with what you said. The humor is actually really bad in this game compared to IV. IV was a straight up GTA game but V just appealed to the masses. This is basically Rockstar selling out and betraying the fanbase.

I've started playing IV again simply because the game has character and it is easier to have fun.

Demolition Derby, stunting, the explosion physics, friendly modders, and the city just feels more interesting, especially with interiors and stuff.

Because of Rockstar, the kids realised that they can show off their attention-seeking, obnoxious and c*nt-like manner to everyone else by wearing masks, suits and painting their cars horrendous colours.

Some of us, like me, are waiting for Halo: The Master Chief Collection. These games shaped the gaming world (4 not so much, because everyone else caught up with what was going on.)

I cannot wait for my favorite franchise to come in HD.

If GTA Online doesn't receive a worldwide purge of kids and cheaters, I can't see myself playing on next gen. Especially if Rockstar keep forcing Cash Cards for the casual players and f*cking the real fans over, or releasing content that could only appeal to those with the mentality of a 10 year old.

Halal Cyborg

I was told by a delivery driver at my work that his dad (70 years old) has a ps3 and plays gtao, cod, battlefield and forza haha

I would find it the most hilarious thing to hear people on headsets in public lobbies and the following to happen...a gang of pensioners keep spawn killing a bunch of squeakers and making them cry in the process whilst cussing them...

This will become a reality in the not so distant future, imagine the amounts of time that can be spent gaming when your old :panic:

Spawn killing those meddling kids would be the highlight of many a rainy day.

Also old fart here, 31.

There are always 2-3 squeakers in any given lobby and they are always talking sh!t. I attack them until I get bored because they cannot shoot, defend or escape because they suck at all game aspects.

Granted I've been playing GTA since I was in first school, but back then we didn't have online play. Which is a good thing because we would've just embarassed ourselves like youngsters do nowadays.

If only there were age restricted lobbies. /: Let the little kiddies play amongst themselves and let us grown-ups get on with business. c:

I'm 34 and I've basically given up on GTAO. I play it for a few mins here and there once or twice a week but there's nothing to keep me actively playing the game.

The squeakers or the younger players didn't put me off, just there's nothing in the game that warrants my attention or interest. But if anything the kids are not killing GTAO but the modders.

This question comes up from time to time. I'm glad it does because I've made a few friends who enjoy gaming without all the nutty sh*t that goes along with it.

I'm 50 years old. I'm a male. I play as a hot, 20 year old killing machine who drives a Blue Zentorno (no dollar sign rims!). Love this game. Feel free to hit me up with a friend request if you're into missions, survivals, etc.. (no free roam because I'm not into the whole rape thing).

For what it's worth, I try not to lump people into old vs. young. Each group has it's own type of immaturity. That is why there is a mute option and a block feature.

Long version:

I don't understand all the hate for kids. Yes, they're annoying. Yes, they sound horrible. You can always mute them. I started playing GTA 3 when I was...11 years old? Around the same age as those kids (I met kids in GTA:O who were, apparently, much younger...like 7 years old). So to tell young GTA fans that this game is too violent and that they're ruining the game is just selfish. To be fair, GTA 3 didn't have multiplayer so I didn't annoy anyone. While I "support" kids playing this game, their parents should really see what they're doing. Let's say that I got a kid (I somehow managed to talk to a girl so this scenario is obviously made-up) and that I wasn't a gamer. What would I do to make sure this game is suitable for my kid? Look at the box art? Menacing characters, that's about it. ESRB rating? Says for mature players but we all know most parents ignore this label. Should I try it out myself? Game starts with robbing a small bank and someone getting shot. But my kid's favorite movie has people getting shot in it. This game is okay, right?

The truth is parents can't be bothered to try it or read about it. If they read about it, though, it's from the news. A smart parent would join the community and ask those that play the game "is this game safe for my kid?" I don't think we get those type of topics around here. I'm a gamer so if I have a kid I'll know what type of games are suitable. Is GTA suitable? Totally, depending on what content you let them see. Drive around hitting people? Go ahead but tell them this is a video game and in real life this is wrong. Pick up a hooker? Nope, let them play GTA IV and go on a date instead and go eat. Fire a gun? Bring them to the shooting range in the ammu-nation. The kids playing GTA V are grabbing tanks, shooting anyone, just going mad. Do they know it's a game? Of course but they're developing this mindset that they can act like dicks in the game. It's this internet anonymity where no one knows who they are. The kids of today are spoiled and dicks. I don't talk to my cousin because he was such a dick when growing up. He's around 17 years old now but he had a cellphone at around 13 and, as cliché as it sounds, played COD tons.

The only time my parents judged a game which I'll always remember was when I was playing in the living room, around 14 years old (maybe?) and was playing on the original Xbox with the very underrated The Warriors game from R*. In that game you have to spin the thumbstick to unscrew a car radio and steal it to make money (you had to loot stores, too). I loved that game and still do. My dad was walking out to work and saw what I was doing and told me how bad games are. It really hit me hard as I love games. I grew up playing them and to be told by my dad how games are bad sucked. I grew up and now he watches, amazed, when I shoot someone. He's mostly amazed at the graphics and what I can do in GTA V so it somehow turned around on him being judgmental and now impressed to how far games have come. If parents could watch their kids play and comment on what they're doing, I'm sure the kids will become better players as I have a tendency to go offroading when my parents pop in my room.

Short version:
Let the kids play, they're growing up playing GTA like most of us did. They're going to end up a bit different because we didn't have online back in the day which sucks as they're not playing single player but they'll still play the games. GTA V has such bad energy coming from the community that I would hate to grow up playing GTA V.

You can also mute them if they're annoying. If you want to talk to older players, though, good luck as the older the player is it seems the more immature he is. A good range is around 13-17 years old players as they're always up to do something and don't talk sh*t.

*edit*
Nice to see everyone saying their age as if reassuring the OP that older people play the game. Good luck finding one another in a game. :p

I've got a mate that turned 30 few weeks ago but it doesn't mean anything to me. He's just older.
I've also got a few younger friends but if you're good players it doesn't matter. It really comes down to how they talk (not sound, but actual talk), how they act (if they're a dick or not) and how good they are in the game. Age honestly doesn't do a thing to me.

Why is it all I seem to find and play with are 15 year olds and younger? Most of those kids either have Summer Break or dropped out of school to be a lazy teen.

Where the hell are the players over 20 years old? Well as a 25 year old that works for a living. I would have to say that some of the players are either at work, working full time or out of town on vacation. Also some of the adults don't have all the time to play the game since they might have a big family to support all week and weekend.

where the hell are the parents and why the hell are they playing this game? The parents are either at work or at the store shopping for food for their family to eat during the week to even watch their kids play the game. Or they are too lazy to do proper parenting to their kids.

Damnit, man--how dare you use such a tiny font size in a thread about old people!

Now, where are my freakin' glasses?

but old enough to remember Tom Baker as Dr. Who.

The one true Doctor.
