As a 23 year old, I'm not sure I can be considered "old" lol.

 

But it's not always the kids that are the worst. It seems to be the maturity level (which is often "low" to say the least) that affects me the most. I've ran into plenty of squeakers that think they're MLG, but I've also ran into quite a few older players who think that they're the best, and like to kill you for no reason then call you a, and I quote one guy, "You little p*ssy motherf*cker who porbably (what? lol) sux d!cks like II sucked your Mum!"

 

At least they don't have ear piercing screams, though

I started playing GTA when I was 12 and honestly I think many people did too, It's hypocritical to call out squeakers when you did the same. I seen older adults act immature so it's not just them.

To be honest, I was 10 when SA came out and ill have to sneak and play it with my mom, but my dad was okay with it. But kids back then were more mature, not squeakers calling eachother gay and talking bout 'I fukkd ur mum' It was community. Id play mortal kombat Armageddon online on ps2 and each match felt clean and it was fun! Now with all these connective advancements, its just cringeworthy turning on gamechat on GTAO. And its sad that this has come to a great game franchise that i grew up with like GTA.

But I didn't have a mic and I wasn't annoying / abusing / talking with random strangers on the internet completely unsupervised

To clear things up I have no issues with kids playing this kind of game my main issue is them playing on game chat. Sure I played gta when I was a child and it would be naive for me to say dont let kids play gta BUT we also didnt have game chat.

 

Join an 18 plus crew, youngest person in our crew is like 20 I think and the oldest is his 50s.

 

Most of us are 25-35ish I reckon.

 

That's on the Xbox side anyway, I think the PS3 side are slightly younger but still 18+.

We kick any under 18s who get manage to get in. We're on pretty much every night and always in party chat.

Probably because it's summer and parents are to lazy now to take their kids out camping and such when it's more inexpensive and less hassle to sit them in front of a TV. Also all these YOLOSWAG kids get to brag about it when school starts up between periods.

 

Oh and I'm 34 btw. Played the very first GTA way back on PSX. Ah the good ole' top down view.

They're still here, keep in mind there are hundreds of thousands of players playing this game.. doesn't mean you'll run into a specific group of people every time.

 

And others have moved on really, not everyone plays the same game for this long, or at different times of the day.

Why is it all I seem to find and play with are 15 year olds and younger? Where the hell are the players over 20 years old?

I couldn't help but laugh at that. I consider 24 and younger "kids".

I am almost 34, I still play, not everyday, but when I do I play, its 95% of the time in a invite lobby, I dont want to deal with open lobbys and all the lunatics running around like chicken with their heads cut off .

Oh yeah, we know why *they* play it, but who the hell gave them the controller.

I don't go online to babysit someone's 12 year old because they can't be bothered.

 

Most of the time I actually find it either cute or hilarious - but it kind of pisses me off in the back of my mind. All this talk about keeping your kids safe online, and then parents go "here is an R18 game, here is a microphone, here is an internet connection, go have fun while I find something else to do".

 

Then these are probably the same parents who throw their arms in the air when they see a nipple.

I was 14 when I first played GTA, but it was the original GTA (top down) and there was no online, no underagers spewing obscenities and racial slurs, no nudity, etc. So the "that's how we all started" is really invalid, because this game has evolved significantly over the years. I don't think anyone under 15 should be playing this game, kids these days really arent mature enough in my experience. But anyway, who cares, they're not my kids, my girls won't be going near games like this until they're 30
