OP's acting like everyone wears the same thing constantly, It's not that bad.

I'm guessing everyone gets lazy with the customization and then complains when everyone looks the same. It sucks but atleast try to make the best out of it

I spent so long trying. I did my best but everything still looks generic. At least the NPCs have a style to them.

Trust me, I tried to make the best out of it.

Then if R* made presets half of them would be ugly as hell so everyone would look the EXACT same.

They should just make a better character creator and give us NPC stuff.

Maybe applying the NPC type to the type of character you wanted to play would work; say you wanted to play as a biker character or a PMC character, they could start you out with a pre-set that you could then customise in the way you can with the heritage system. That way you can start GTAO with a more personalised character, rather than some scrawny, generic munchkin getting off a plane.

Or let us choose sliders or different noses. They don't need to make presets, they are already in the game.

My point is thsy I don't see R* adding NPC clothing, they like retexturing too much.

Why not just let us play as the NPCS overall?

For a number of reasons really, most notably i'd say because a lot of people look at GTAO like it's an RPG, (even though the character models are all the same) the idea of a character that you have created yourself adds to the immersion imo. Of course, they could always add the choice to play as either an NPC or a custom character, I can't see why it wouldn't be possible.

I'd like to maybe choose a premade face so that I don't look like a plastic crack head. Then dress however I want.

Or let us choose to play as NPC or let us create our character. Forgot what game it was but it pleases us both.I want that, too. I just don't see R* doing it.

"Would you prefer Red Dead's style of choosing MP characters?"

I picked up Red Dead Redemption again 2 weeks ago when my internet went out and I've legit earned more outfits than I ever have in my life.

Without using the internet to find scraps. The only MP I enjoy on Redemption is Poker. Just not when some kid comes in and goes all-in every single hand.

What would be good, IMO, is a combination. Have the current creation system produce NPCs that can found in the game - ones that look MUCH better than the crackheads that the creator system often builds - but keep the clothing system. Best of both worlds.

My problem is all the clothes look generic and the same (and also none of them make you look badass.)

On one hand, I like the idea of being able to knstantly have a character kitted to the Vagos gang or Lost MC.

On the other, less customization is a hell no.

Wish they would have let us choose an NPC to start off with then customize their appearance from their, the NPCs look way better than anything you can do in character creator.

Vice city goon

I wouldnt mind to have both options, some peds are really great,i would love to rob banks playing with the topless bikini granny ped..imagine dat ass runin' with the assault carbine wearing only the thong and a mask ...but what bothers me is the restriction to get my character older and/or obese/fat...

yes! i would rather choose from all the npcs for a character than the stupid system we have now. not to mention that it would be a good thing for all the role players. cops and all those character skins.

Nah... I like being able to completely customize my character rather than choosing a preset. What I would like to see is them adding the pedestrian clothes as options rather than adding in 300 new suits and other goofy stuff that no one wears.

You can't really 'completely customize' your character when all have to choose from is suits or the same tshirt and hoodie in a ton of different colors.

The thing here that you forget is that this game is in the very beginning of it's life span. I'm sure they'll improve that and eventually we might see more clothes that fit different styles. I'm sure they'll add better clothes for bikers and gang members and what not, we just have to be patient, which is a hard thing to do if you don't already have a "style" for your character.

---

Personally, I wouldn't want to select characters. If it was character selection, every MC would be using the same 7 Lost skins. First, you can't use your own patch in that case and everyone will be wearing the same skin depending on what their character is.

I think it'll be better once the clothing thing is all worked out, which might be some time off since we still can't rob banks and sh*t.

Heard an opp got killed, watch me do my dance.

Got a pocket full of bills, watch me do my dance.

I just popped a pill, watch me do my dance.

Hit that nigga with the steel watch that nigga dance.

I'm too attached to my character now. Also I've never seen anyone with her face, they come very close, but there's always something different. It's too late now, but maybe in future they should consider allowing us to choose body shapes, skin tones, etc.

Off topic: I play Luisa Fortuna on RDR, tho. Te voy a matar como un perro! Soy mas hombre que tu!

John martson AND Red harlow in my case

Every time I'd ask who Red is to anyone playing as him I'd get the same answer: "he's a random guy R* added, like the rest of the pack." When I'd ask them if they knew what the game before Redemption was, I'd get "there was none."

Needless to say, I think I was one of the few who played as him who actually knew who he was and what game he and the rest of the Legends pack was from.

I'm not a big fan of the character creator but that's not really the point here. I am a big fan of having one continuous character that is mine so I vote no. The character development could be deeper but I'd have given up on online by now if I was just choosing a random avatar every time I played (the months I spent playing me3 mp notwithstanding).

Turkey Shenanigans

I wish you could customize your character's height and weight/build. Playing as a midget would be fun.

Speaking of Red Dead Redemption, I just took El Presidio a few minutes ago and saved before riding to Blackwater so I could hear that bad-ass music as I'm traveling to see my ex-whore wife and disobedient son.

I used to rent Red Dead Revolver back when renting videogames from Blockbuster was still a thing.
I was 18 years old, and I must have owned that game at least 7 times. I was always selling my videogame systems and accessories for beer money once I was old enough to drink, but I'd always buy more used copies of Red Dead Revolver and The Getaway as soon as I got back on my feet.

The only advantage to Red Dead's system was the characters looked more believable that way. Not these cardboard cutouts that all wear the same ill-fitting clothes. They should add some sort of uniforms to GTA. I loved playing as the cavalry soldier in Red Dead.

At least it'll offer more variety than GTAO's heritage system.

I'd like both the Red Dead system if you have a certain character you really like AND an actually good customizable character creator.

presets? naaa!!!

they just need to add more stuff to the character creator, the options are too limited, the parents thing is stupid.

add more options, face, shapes, heights, for the love of god add body shapes<-- this alone would make a huge difference. npcs are different with different skin tones, heigh and shapes, i dont see why all of our character have a generic body type.

I agree especially the height ish. female avatars are so f*cking tall. "that's a huge bitch!"
