Th3MaN1
What was it like? I'm going to get mine tomorrow, and I'm ecstatic, that for the first time in my life, I will get money for my own work. Honestly, I'm not expecting much money by the standards here, but still better than jacking off all the time at home in the summer. Share the feelingz. Node
It was indeed a great feeling, knowing that you earned that money so can do whatever the hell you want with it. It definitely takes longer to earn it than to spend it though.
Rebel
Mine wasn't bad for 8 hours a week. However, now things are totally different. If anything I just look forward to jerking off all day rather than work at this moment in time.

Yeah, no kidding, and selling your labor for a salary is also work. What I'm getting at is, a salary is a fixed income that is generally paid regardless of the hours worked. So, if you're being paid by the hour, you're not working for a salary. a20characterusername

RiaJay21
Approximately £13k/year. Which works out to roughly £7 an hour for 40 hours a week. Not bad for my first 'real' job; I only lasted six months, though, because I quickly found out that I'm not cut out for quoting prices, nor am I really the desk bound kind. The job itself was great, the people were great, but I ultimately decided I wasn't on the right career path. Spent it on food, clothes, driving lessons and more clothes. £6,500 doesn't last long in the hands of a 19-year-old that has no idea what to do with it. Changing jobs, though, was the best decision I ever made, seeing as I am now working for roughly the same money, except on a sliding scale. I don't put in the hours, I don't get the money. But, I'm happy. And not as susceptible to spending it on crap, mostly.
Mr Rabbit
£250 a week (£50 a day) for what is a training job really. Not bad, I haven't had taxes yet since my earnings thus far fall way under the income tax allowance. may not seem like much but spending £250 usually takes me 2 weeks or 3, I don't drive so no costs there, I don't eat that much. so I'm fine for now. At first it drained me of all energy but I moved in closer to work so I can wake up earlier, and get home earlier and now it is all good. lil weasel
40$US a week, at a time when a candy bar was 5¢, a nickel bag was a small bag of potato chips, gas was 23¢ a gallon. An 8 oz fountain drink was 5¢. Rent a room for $5 to $10 a week. A 3/4 acre with a ranch (3 br) house was $12,000. So, you can see (if you do the maths) how expensive it was compared to today. Audiophile
Besting feeling ever to just buy something when you felt like it. Not having to ask mommy and daddy for it. Wait for birthdays, wait for Christmas. Just buy it for yourself because you wanted it and the money is your own, you earned it. Wears off eventually like all things but that freedom is still there. And in the end, it does beat being some hermit sitting at home jacking off all day. Mark
First proper monthly wage was about £1k after tax. Was good, my financial situation then (at home, sod all rent, £2.20 a beer at the local pub) meant the money went far. I clear over twice that now but I have less disposable income. Being 18 was cool. Edited August 11, 2014 by Mark Finn 7 five 11
