Do you call taxis in GTAO?

I'm not sure if I ever have, probably once or twice. But I think I'll start using it more often because I read that the taxi can get to places where your mechanic can't.

The fact that you cannot skip the trip is infuriating, but I did use it sneakily once. Got in the Cab, directed the route to a war zone in the childish free roam, called Lester to go off the radar and threw sticky bombs on some high level cretins that would not allow people the peace to simply be free from harassment.
