Top Gear Challenge #2

If one were to squint, they would be able to make out 5 containers in the picture above. That is what our producers sent to us after hearing how well the last Top Gear challenge went. If you saw the last episode, you would know I was on the search of new co-hosts because James May probably stopped to look at a train on the way to work and Hammond couldn't reach the top shelf to grab his car keys. So once again, like a lone ranger, I keep searching for true winners. The producers, along with the small picture above, sent me a few interesting facts:

-Each player will stand in front of a container, having no clue what car is behind. Once told, the players will climb on the container and see if they've made the right choice. Players will then take place in a drag race, braking test, a tight rally stage and a climbing challenge. Each challenge has been tested by the host with every available vehicle to ensure fairness.

-Only 5 players will be accepted. This event will be done multiple times to let as many players as I can to experience this. The reason for such a small group is to have better control over the lobby and the Content Creator has the memory capacity of a goldfish. If you attended this event, do not sign up again (I'll be keeping a list of gamertags, anyone using another gamertag and cheats in the event by knowing about the challenges/cars will be disqualified). To avoid cheating, the cars behind each container will be switched around with each new group. This event is basically going by group so don't panic if you don't get a spot right away. Hopefully this thread will take off.

*Event usually lasts around 40 minutes and time passes by quickly.*

*Special variations of this event will probably be introduced with Group 5 where the winners (or runner-ups if winner can't make it) will join in a all-out battle to see who's the greatest driver. This topic will still be active so finding the greatest driver isn't a finale of some sort.*

First off, I would like to thank this group for giving me good feedback. As a host, I worry about a lot of things that the most simple ideas escape me. These guys gave me pointers that will ensure a fair and enjoyable event for future groups so thank you to the guys that are noted below.

We found out Minivan and Prius were faster than Emperor and Wagon, thus the group racing deciding the pole position.

Feedback:
A fist fight takes place at the end to "top off" the event. Usage of cars will be asked to the players as players in vehicles cannot be reached thus making the optional fight unfair. It's a little detail but I understand that viewpoint and take feedback seriously.

Group 0 told me the minivan was 4 wheel drive and Group 1 (this group) made it clear the minivan was the best vehicle for the Hillclimb Challenge. Possibility of removing the minivan for future groups.

Some people go into car meet topics and just post their gamertag so I'm only taking a precaution, it wasn't totally aimed at you (okay, most of it was). I'm just making sure everything is good for me which in turn makes the event much more enjoyable for those that attend.

If the 12th is more suitable, I can place you in this one but I'd prefer to have THIS group people from the forum and MY group made up of friends that I know.

Any gamertags posted from now on will be considered for the NEXT group. The date for the next group is UNDECIDED so I would strongly suggest to not add your gamertag without having any idea what date the next event will be.

The 5 players that signed up are currently not online/ready and the event is currently 20 minutes away (which should be a reasonable time for coming online to show the host you're attending). I will wait until 4:10PM EST (10 minutes past the event). If only two people join, the event will be cancelled. I can invite random friends that I know of (my own friends that I trust) but the event, if none of those signed up show, will most likely be cancelled. Come on, guys.

Only jamesyboy441 showed up. Disappointed in the rest of you. If you want to attend the next event, you will be in Group 3 (currently hosting Group 2). Event went truly well and Group 1 did some more beta testing that Group 0 did. I finally know how to make everything perfect. Will see what changes I can make, if possible.

If so can you provide a link to download these races? Im not very good at racing so id like to try some of these tracks out solo if possible before joining but would definitley join an event for the laugh, I dont know if that breaks the rules or whatever but let me know cheers

I've got two maps so far and although they can be downloaded, they are only used for the event and are not actual races. Both are in the form of a death match (so you can run around and pick a car). This topic hints at the event being done multiple times so I'm not sure when I'll start working on an actual course. Thanks for the idea, though.

 

I do have something special planned at some point.

The map that I'm currently using is inspired by the concept of one host arriving first with his car and then the other two hosts arrive (one by one) and see what car they could buy (in this case, players pick a container and get the car hidden behind it). The other map I have is a hide & seek one where players must find a car within a time limit and isn't really inspired from Top Gear. I will have Top Gear inspired races which I can't wait to do.

Currently accepting gamertags!

So far Group 0 (beta testers) and Group 1 made it clear that the cars I picked out for this event weren't compatible. The van and Prius were too good compared to the Emperor and the Wagon (the Manana has yet to be picked) so the cars have been changed to something you'd see on a Top Gear episode but still be competitive with one another.
