Ok, where can I buy my Grand Theft Auto: Online disc? Where can I find my Grand Theft Auto: Online achievements? Rockstar are the only people who think GTA:Online is it's own thing. Even retailers sell the game as "Grand Theft Auto: V," not "Grand Theft Auto V/Grand Theft Auto: Online Bundle"

I would definitely consider a monthly subscription, if it gave us improved gameplay.

GTAO has to make money for it to continue and I do wonder if a subscription based system would give us a better game , rather than the one we have now, where a lot of it seems designed towards selling cash cards.

and there's one of "those people" right here. enjoy the PS4's multiplayer while i get the EXACT SAME multiplayer for free on PS3.

I still play online. I enjoy it but it's also incredibly frustrating. Where V's SP is 10/10 for me, GTAO is a 7/10 at best.

 

I would stop playing if I had to start paying for it.

No , what I mean is R* and Take 2 exist to make money. That's why they made GTAO.

As things stand they make money from cash cards , but unfortunately that has some drawbacks for us gamers. E.g. everything being so expensive, no friendly fire off lobbies, no cops off lobbies etc.

If they made their money from a subscription, then the game would not have to push players to constantly spend money and it would hopefully be more fun for us.

Yeah that's why I keep pushing my "payout multiplier" idea, even nagged Rockstar with it.

It's exactly as you say, if money making is too easy, then nobody buys cash cards - so they have no choice but to nerf it / make it expensive. That's just business / common sense.

 

I'd rather pay an OPTIONAL small fee per year, as an alternative to cash cards, that say gave me a 2x or 3x multiplier on my job payouts. This is much better for me than cash cards because I still have to earn the money (rewarding etc). As it is now, buying a cash card feels like glitching only it costs money.

 

This would be optional, so half the audience wouldn't walk away going "I'm not paying for that s**t", but I get to enjoy my game more and R* gets their precious $$$ - win all round. Also those with no money problems, can keep playing the game as is.

Has noone heard of the mmo gaming genre?????? You pay for the game usually full price when its new, then you pay for your subscription. 99% of them will include the first month of subscription.

Probably going to fall on deaf ears, but a possible shared solution would be saints row's model of a season pass (or subscription) for free content/discounted dlc or full price for content and dlc (updates such as bug fixes and occasional freebies will continue regularly). As to whoever said MMO model is to pay full price and then pay a subscription is a little off. A lot of MMO are actually free to download, but requires subscription for certain services and content. Otherwise the game is still open to all, al abit more difficult and laborious.

 

I suppose the thing that irks me about subs is the contractual nature of it and the obliging setup to have to pay for something you may not want or need or worse, to access content you have already bought the license for (I hate EULA, but strangely it works for the punter in this case). I would go as far as to say a lot of forumites are very much 'pay your money, make your choice', cash in hand sorts of people who would appreciate a bit of paid dlc if they want it. (a model that works and would yield better turnover than any P2P subscription) .

 

As for subscriptions 'maturing' the online community, especially Xbox, think again. I've yet to see the XBL community show any more maturity than PSN (and vice versa)

 

P.S What is this beef with EA. I haven't bout much from them ever and nothing since NFS Most Wanted (sh*t game).

Many people fighting for germany back in world war II had no reason to doubt hitler either, look how that turned out. The fact of the matter is that when you bought the game, you paid for the online mode as well. It was not free, and it never was, It was half of your 60 dollars.
