GTA IV - "Classic" freemode lobbies

A lot of people seem to want variables and options when it comes to the way GTAO is played. Here i have a preposal that could make everyone happy.

GTA IV style free roam lobbies, or simply "Classic Freeroam" Basically: Money free lobbies.

It will be an option for people in the Online section of the pause menu. Once you select it, it will take you to a screen where you can invite people and set options:

Options available:

Time: Day, Night, Dusk, Dawn, or Cycle

Weather: Clear, Cloudy, Foggy, Rain, or Cycle

Police: On/Off

Traffic: On/Off

Traffic Density: Low, Medium, High

Pedestrians: On/Off

Ped Density: Low, Medium, High

Custom Weapons: On/Off

Custom Vehicles: On/Off

Weapons: Pistols, SMGs, AR's, MG's, Explosives, or ALL

Friendly Fire: On/Off

Invite Only/Open Session

Players will be able to keep their character and change clothes at your apartment, garage, or at clothing stores.

Players will be able to call mechanic to bring them their PV, and can get it repaired free at LSC, but no modifying the vehicle in any ways. (assuming custom cars is set to "ON")

You cannot drop weapons, only pick up weapons that spawn in random places across the map, like GTA IV; or use your custom weapons (if enabled)

No bad sport in these lobbies. Your PV get's destroyed: No bad sport, You call and get it back for free. You destroy someones car who's chasing you? You pay nothing.

No robbing stores, buying food, clothes (you can only change at clothing stores) car mods (LSC repairs you car for free, but thats all you can do, like pay n spray in GTA IV)

No armored cars; players do not drop money when they die, nor do NPCs

No bounties, mercenaries, airstrikes, or helicopter backup; but you can call merrywether for a helicopter pickup.

No Lester; his services are disabled.

Obviously,no jobs; this is free mode. Characters do not call your phone (Dom, Brucie, Simeon, Lester, etc) but you can still get invites to join missions/races/etc in regular GTAO via text.

I think that people would be able to play more how they wanted in a lobby like this, and not have to worry about going broke, and when they wanted to get back to grinding/earning money/ customizing vehicles or whatever, they can simply exit to normal GTAO via pause menu or starting a job by text.

Any suggestions? Ideas?

Yeah I like this idea, hopefully we'll get different modes.

I remember the GTA IV days when there was one place everyone always was: the airport.

so in other words you want to farm your cash and then play freemode that costs nothing?

yeah R* would never implement it as it would completly f*ck up the game.

If you want a NO money mode then you get nothing inside said mode meaning
NOTHING you already own
NO PV
NO weapons
NO snack/armour
NO jobs available
NO freemode activities

You would have to spawn with nothing and then proceed to pick up weapons and ammo from scratch.
Stats would have to be disabled or make a complete new stat pool for "POOR MODE"
No cars could be obtained
No places accessable like LSC, Appartments or ammunations
No phone contacts
No cloths changes

If they didnt put limits like this on everything then the playerbase would all e skewed into playing poor mans mode so they can keep every cent the have without any risk at all

You would still have to spend money on the ammo you use in this mode. It's a game mode. You can't put cars in your garage as LSC ONLY repairs the car you bring in. No installing trackers, so you couldn't possibly come out with more than you came in with. Matter fact, you'd come out with less.

You couldn't buy anything in this, you'd have to wait until you went back to normal GTAO. I don't mind negative feedback but at least be constructive an not a douche Mr. joined 2 weeks ago.

The amount that you buy new cars or new clothes is like once a week MAX once you have everything you basically want you dont splash cash on cars anyway so its really pointless not being able to mod your vehicals but you can still repair them and have them on call?

So in other words you want it so you can drive around in your chrome adder (example ofc) and sticky everything with FREE stickies and not pay a cent towards insurance or get a point of bad sport?

?Trolll thread?

sorry im not trying to shot your idea down. I actaully think it would be good but they way you have it as it stand is completly IMBA to say the least

This is for people who have a problem with other players killing them (friendly fire off) bad NPC driving (traffic off) and police (police off), or for people who just want to play without having to worry about money. I don't see how having a custom car or being allowed to change into clothes you already own would effect the economy. Only thing i could see is maybe blowing up other peoples cars, but they can just get it right back for free anyways.

Plus, you can't buy anything in this "classic free roam".. so if you're going on a sticky spree eventually you're going to run out of stickies, then you might be the victim - or you'll just leave.

In GTA IV you could do the same thing, you didnt pay for anything you could just pick up a RPG and blow people up, with this its basically enter at your own risk but with OPTIONS.

This is a great idea. The problem with current GTAO Free Roam lobbies is that I'm constantly on edge, I don't enjoy being in Free Roam, the only time I can unwind and have fun is when I'm with my friends in a private session.

This would encourage me to start playing more with randoms again. The funny thing is also, I bet people would actually be more friendly in this lobby as funny as that sounds. An open world with no Traffic, Peds, Cops. I used to encounter some pretty cool dudes in the GTA IV days, and used to do stunting at the airport.

Yes I know what you are saying but you are not understanding me. If you want all the benefits of having your money protected you have to take the downsides with it also. You cannot "have you cake and eat it too" especially since this is a game and R* want to turn a profit.

Like I said I like your concept but the execution you have provided is completly skewed and unbalanced to the normal game

I get the vibe that it would be too, since you only waste ammo and you get no money for killing another player. Not saying it will be all hugs n sh*t but i think that it would be a change at least. PV destruction might be one of the main problems but as i said you could turn them off.

Right, R* is a business that needs money to operate, i understand that, i also understand that the in game economy helps R* pay the bills with the addition of GTA dollars; but you would still have to play the normal game to make money, play the normal game to spend money - this would be nothing but a game mode. If anything, all those options except custom weapons and vehicles disabled. But still, everything would cost just the same in the normal game, you want a turbo for your super? You gotta pay 50,000 - you can't make money in this mode, only lose it by wasting ammo on other players - the only thing that's actually protected is your vehicles.

(Oh, and no good player bonus either)

I like this idea. I remember the days of IV's freemode. There was no sense of ownership to anything. Money was irrelevant and everything was free. You found an Infernus? Sweet. Aww, your Infernus blew up? Dang.. looks like you gotta find another one. Some may debate me about weapon pickups, but I for one liked weapon pickups. If you wanted to go against somebody or the cops, you better gear up and find the weapons for yourself. No buying stuff over a counter.

I also liked the fact that contacts and in game features are disabled to bring it back to the core of GTA IV's freemode. Last thing we need is some random guy going off the map and calling airstrikes & muggers. Nah man, if you wanted to fight, you fought with no help (unless you had friends).

I think this also would encourage people to work together or at least be comfortable being 10 feet away from each other. Sheesh man, remember in GTA IV when friendly fire was off and people used to blast each other away using Rocket Launchers? Remember when the entire lobby would band together and fight the cops? I liked it when people were much calmer and could run up to you and do their little taunts. The city was our playground.

GTAIV_Liberty_City_map.png

*sigh* now everybody is all hostile and paranoid.

I hope this thread stays up here for a while. This really should be implemented. :^:

Well considering you are completly ignoring my valid points ill post one more and leave as you dont want constructive criticism you just want people to blindly say "yeah this is awesome"

Im over lvl 120 with all unlocks in the game. I have a 10 car show garage and a 10 car with 5 bikes and 5 rare "showoff" vehicals. I have every weapon unlocked also.

WHY DO I WANT TO PLAY NORMAL MODE NOW AS I HAVE EVERYTHING IN THE GAME?

I could just play "classic" and do everything for free and never worry about anything anymore. No more bad sport for griefing players, No cops to get in the way of said griefing, No insurance bills to curb my lust for explosions....

Should I continue? nah youll ignore my valid points anyway

Cheers

Basically, you want to take out all the risks involved with the current GTA Online and go back to how it used to be, pure anarchy and not having to worry about anything else.

Where do I sign this? Screw that, let me get my wallet.

*throws money at the screen*

*edit*
I hate people like the guy above my post. OP makes a detailed and lengthy post and this bag of douche responds with a shrug-off one-liner. At least say why it's stupid.

*2nd edit*
Really sorry, can't be bothered to read all the good and long replies here (too tired) but I'd like to add my 2 cents in. Hopefully these hasn't been mentioned, if so just ignore.

I saw the argument OP and Evil have been having and a solution would be:

you can use PV's, all you own, etc (if set) but you must pay for your ammo and cars you destroy. No bad sport for blowing up cars but you have to pay for the car's insurance like you do in normal lobbies. That way, trolls won't be making money as they'd have to switch session and the loading time might deter them from joining a friendly game on the intend of blowing everything up. Go to single player, normal lobby, start job, back to single, go to friendly, blow sh*t up, go to single, back to normal lobby, go missions to get lost cash back. See what I mean? Yes, some people have millions to blow on this sh*t but hopefully it'll encourage good behavior. At the moment the only thing that promotes good behavior is Invite Only and passive mode, both which suck for meeting randoms.

There's tons of topics talking about a hardcore mode/friendly mode and I made a few points in those and I strongly believe GTA:O needs this mode. GTA IV had it. RDR had it. It not only worked well, it worked wonders. I met most of my friends in those type of lobbies. In GTA:O, I'm always on edge. Everyone is just an asshole with a gun and a lust for blood.

There's some things that are in GTA:O that are stupid. A great example would be the shortcut to snapmatic. Why would you need to whip out your phone that quick? If you're in the market and the market asks for something, you generally cater to their needs and the outcry of super-cops in GTA:O can't be ignored. It's a matter of time R* tone them down, trust me. As I said in my post, there's a mini version of friendly lobbies and it's passive mode so the possibility of friendly lobbies is there.
