Precise Reasons why GTA V is better than GTA IV

Fan GTA III

The Map, improved gameplay mechanics, more flyable vehicles, quick save (my fav) taking selfies. Clothes selection. more entertaining missions (even though they're fewer, they're not just drive to point A to kill random guy IV ones)

BTW just to put it out there: we got planes motherf*cker! A thing that was absent from GTA IV

Let's see here's mine:

A bigger car collection (gta 4 only had 1 super car and TBOGT only add 2 or 3

More clothes selection

Customization

Airplanes

Better weapon selection and add on

Interesting missions

Better online. And before you get on me about that, Online is just as fun as 4 multi-player if not better.

I would like to add some visual reasons why V is better than IV:

The above post makes my point for me: Really the ONLY thing GTA V did better than IV was graphics. Everything else is so debateable that it must be seen as a massive miss-spending of funding. I weep for what we should have had.

GTA V Is On PC

I like it for the open world that Rockstar gave us. They really expressed themselves with their creativity on parts of the map.

Now it is going to look even more gorgeous

sAcQG2T.gif

It's going to be better than Gta 4, trust me. Gta 4 is my most favorite game of all time, but it is starting to really show it's age, even with ICEnhancer 3.0 installed. It's time for a fresh new start in an amazing world that Rockstar has had up their sleeve since they started working on the game.

It's time to move on.

Edit: You know what? F*ck it, I take back what I said about Gta 5 being better than Gta 4. Sorry, but no. I can't say that.

Precisely nothing.

....

-Graphics (Obviously).

-Vehicle customisation.

-Some details GTA IV didn't have like water forming on the ground after being wet.

It's much easier to list the things that don't make GTA V better, but I have to play nice.:p

Better graphics, better memory management (hopefully on PC), smoother animations, the characters don't feel clunky and slow, airplanes, wider clothes customization, and the improved mobile phones.

Those are my reasons. Everything else should be packed in a crate and pushed into an active volcano to stop any hope of them transferring to the next GTA. Things like the stealth system and retarded turbulence of planes and swaying of helicopters for example.

but I have to play nice. :p

I do often wonder why you're a mod for the V boards ;) Wouldn't you rather be on the IV boards permanently?

So back to topic...

Other than JB Smoove? The sense of freedom, the killer lighting engine which is only going to get better in the new version, the variety of cars and weapons, the customisation of cars and character, ONLINE, Yoga's ability to reduce grown men to whimpering, whining children...

I guess it's pretty empty over there these days, with it being such an inferior game and everything...

Most of my reasons have already been listed by other members, but one thing I do want to mention is the cover system. I played a little bit of IV a month or two ago, and my god were the cover mechanics frustrating as sh*t. I never remembering them being like that, but having played so much V and Max Payne 3, you come to understand just how much this aspect has improved and flowed much better. The whole gunplay element in general is so much better and fun IMO, and as for the driving; while I was a bit iffy about it at first, it wasn't long before I found it to be the perfect balance from previous GTAs.

This. There's nothing can hide the fact that IV's cover system is clunky and sticky as f*ck.

Agreed. It's much more refined in GTA V. It can be annoying trying to go into cover with Niko and the system decides to do the opposite to what you want it to do.

I have to admit I haven't browsed through this whole topic (so it might have been mentioned) but GTA V has a huge advantage over GTA IV in its vertical mapping.

Almost all buildings can be scaled, via ladders, walkways or climbing. It's smoother, faster and more intuitive to scale and traverse buildings in GTA V.

Try to jump to another building in GTA IV and watch in disgust as Niko decides to slip down off the side of a tall building, instead of perform the small jump you asked him to do.

GTA V is the most vertically mapped city ever and one of my favourite parts of the game.

Totally agreed on this, the number of buildings you can get to the roof of is quite impressive. (without using a heli or 'chute, of course) However, jumping seems to default to 'sliding off on your ass' in a lot of cases - would be great if the protags could jump and CATCH - rather than easing themself into a 14 story-fall.

The missions are much better, more fun to play and more variety.

Graphics

Better car handling

The music is slightly better than IV's

Huge countryside

Planes/Helicopters

Better side activities

Better dialogue and humor

Replay value

Weapon variety

My personal reason is the car handling. I hated it in GTA4 as the cars felt like boats and turning slightly resulted in spinning out. While in GTa5 I love the handling. Cars stick to the ground and the handling feels like an arcade style racing game. I don`t care what people say about it. GTA5 handling > GTA4 handling.

If anybody says the story is better then you are wrong.

God forbid anyone has a difference in opinion, but this is GTAForums, where one person's opinion is all that matters and anyone who disagrees is wrong.

Much better lap dances

I really prefer IV over V. But i got to admit that the strip club and its interactions are way better than IV's.

Graphics and the in game internet are the only things i think that are better. I dont really care about the countryside, but it also has a really great map variation. Even loving IV to the bone, V is a fun game, very satisfying gameplay.
