They were only Christian in the sense that they didn't have a f*cking clue about what it means to be a Christian and therefore weren't really Christian. Sorry. But you can't fight a war, killing your fellow countrymen, in an effort that would ultimately and intentionally prolong the greatest unjust institution the world has ever known, and call that Christian.
