Is Claude the most overrated protagonist in GTA history?

Honestly, as much as I love GTA, I think about 85% of the characters of the series are overrated. As far as underrated GTA characters go, Armando and Diego Mendez, Phil Cassidy, Madd Dogg, Ryder, Kendl, Vincenzo, Asuka, Joey Leon, and 8-Ball fit that description perfectly. Anyone else gonna name any more underrated GTA characters?

Madd Dogg, Ryder, and Kendl are definitely the most underrated characters of GTA SA.

Just look around at polls, and similar statistics. People just love & adore Niko a lot more than other characters.

 

Cause he was the first to have a decent Storyline and kind of a strong past

You can't make Trevor obese or muscular, even though I'd like to see an obese Trevor. The character customization was a lot more in depth in SA as opposed to V.

 

 

Your opinion is yours, no offense, but imo it's completely unlogical. With your logic, we could say:

Claude Speed (GTA2) was liked because of Scott Maslen.

Claude (III) was liked because he killed his ex.

Tommy was liked because of Ray Liotta's voice.

Niko was liked because he could play bowling.

Michael was liked because he could sleep with his wife.

Trevor was liked because he could have tattoos.

Franklin was liked because he had a dog.

 

Where's the logical reasoning? Nobody knows.

I think the most overrated is CJ, no question.

 

Most underrated would be Franklin for me, whenever people talk about GTA 5, mostly Micheal (who feels like THE main protagonist of GTA V) and Trevor, ESPECIALLY Trevor.

 

Claude however, to me he seems like R*'s favorite protagonist, which could be the reason some believe he's overrated, he's the only GTA character to be a full figure (not counting those weird lego-looking figures), he's in GTA V (along with Niko and J. Marston) and he's in GTA San andreas.

 

Surprised you don't see him in LCS, as he would be in LC as of the events of GTA LCS.

In some ways he is. But for me, he's my personal favorite character mainly because I think he looks cool. But I also like the fact that he never speaks. I like that he's mysterious and that it's up to your imagination to figure out who he is. Or at least I do that. I guess I'm a fanboy because it has become a tradition for me to mod him into every GTA game I have on the PC (which is all except for VCS and LCS, of course). I'm just hoping someone makes an HD Claude for GTA V.

I don't get sometimes why people call him the "best" protagonist out of all the other ones in the entire series..

 

He never talks, which is alright. Kinda makes everything secretive. Would have added character to him, then maybe I would have liked him more. The only think I honestly like about him is the outfit. It looked pretty cool.

I think Claude is my favourite. If we're talking about who is overrated, it's Trevor Phillips, Michael Townley and Tommy Vercetti. In that order.

 

I enjoyed the games they're in, but I didn't enjoy playing as those characters specifically. I found Trevor to be a mish mash of comic relief and omgwhackyviolence, I found Michael to be an irritating prick, especially after he made contact with Solomon, and Tommy Vercetti's ham-fisted impression of Tony Montana was pathetic.

 

That's no comment on the games they were in, just the characters.

 

But Claude. Oh Claude. Hard as nails, always willing to nod and get to work. Never a word, always a result. I think it's one of the Donald Love missions where he basically walks in, listens to Love explain what he needs and just walks out again. It's like he's saying 'whatever, let me just blow sh*t up'. He doesn't need to have tiresome 'daddy never loved me, mummy is a lunatic' back story. He doesn't need to be portrayed as this super crazy guy. He's like the ultimate merc. More so even than Niko, as he doesn't struggle with what he is.

I've seen the movie. I'm cognizant of the influences VC picked from Scarface. But personality wise, Tommy is much more different from Tony. The only similarities the two have are hot tempers. That's it. Tony was uneducated, impulsive, and high on cocaine most of the time, while Tommy, on the other hand, was far more intelligent, cognizant, fastidious, and never intentionally used any drugs. And by the way, inspiration is by no means tantamount to a ripoff, imitation, facsimile, copy, nor paste.
