Well I just thought of something regarding that whole "zombies in GTA V" thing...

So we know recently that Rockstar has presumably said that GTA Online won't be playable in update 1.17 with a small memory PS3...

That is a sign that the update they're planning may be a large one, which is plausible because the time from the 1.15 patch to the 1.16 patch was a bit of a while.

Now, assuming they were also working on other things during that month period, it is plausible to assume that Rockstar could have used half the time for flight school (whic was why tthe patch was so small content wise...), and used the rest of that time + now working on zombies.

Of course, something more reasonable is that they are warning players because the next patch is heists (lol) and since it might take up a good chunk of memory, that's why it might kill those puny PS3s.

The 12GB PS3 uses nearly 3GB of storage space for the system files/etc.

So there is just 9108MB available before you install any games on it..

The game install is 8487MB, the update are 502 so that is a total of 8989 MB so far.

This is not including save files, 53KB for your profile and 336KB per save file (which you can have 10 of) so 3413KB = 3.413MB

8989 + 4 (rounded up to 1MB) = 8993MB

9108 - 8993 = 115MB

The next update will be bigger than the last one, which was 103MB - it will quite possibly be larger than 115MB...

Update: Apparently the updates need double the HD space to download and install as the update itself.

So it could be smaller one of up to 57MB (57 x 2 - 114MB)...

Since rockstar said the 12gb ps3 wont be able to handle the next update doesn't that mean it's pretty big? I don't know if there's only a small space left anyway or not but that made me think it would be a pretty sizeable update. Maybe you guys know?

Edit: Damn haha sorry for not reading the whole page before I posted

I'm hoping the Halloween update will work like this:

Similar to the snow during Xmas, the city of Los Santos will be under a Zombie Invasion for the Halloween weekend ONLY. There will be a new Survial mode mission featuring Zombies that will persist after the weekend but the zombies themselves will be gone from regular Free Mode afterwards. For the week/weekend of the update or the update event, limited time purchases will be available including clothes, masks, a chainsaw and katana, and these beauties:

IMO this would let us have Zombies for just one fun weekend, then if you want to see them again you can play the survival.

When Activision take over Take Two, doesn't mean Rockstar's games will be crappy too. The team from Rockstar usually will still be working on Rockstar's project.

So, why not? There's a chance for the games to be better. Maybe you won't see Cash Card crap anymore in the next GTA Online.

This. I would argue that Take Two, and their liability towards their stock holders, is a large part of the reason why GTA Online is so messed up. A company like Activision makes enough money through other products that they wouldn't feel the need to milk every last penny out of the Grand Theft Auto series.

That, and if it hasn't become apparent to you, Rockstar needs an administrative overhaul. They have some of the best creative guys in the business, but they suck as a company. They have no organization and poor worker morale, hence all the delays and other issues that consumers like us are beginning to recognize as traits of the company. This could be a good thing.

As long as it isn't EA (who would absolutely destroy the franchise), I think we are good.

wow, we have our very own "insider" here....

Who in the world wants zombies?

We already have Survival where we're fighting off hundreds of intelligent AI's, why dumb it down into dull zombies?

Zombies have always been a bad excuse for a developer who didn't want to create decently smart AI. Just moan and groan and stumble around. It's more challenging and rewarding fighting off enemies that use strategic maneuvers to flank you and whatnot.

I'd honestly rather see survival against herds of bears or mountain lions than zombies. Its been overplayed to death the past 5 years, out with the old in with the new.

Now that's an awesome idea and I agree with you. Herds of dangerous animals would be sick

Like for example getting having our car mauled by pack of zombie cows when chill-riding around Paleto hood?

I liked the hunting in RDR online where it was like the gang wars but with animals.

It would be a nice change from the mendoza's.

A zombie mode might be fun if it was done right. I think a doable survival should work like this.

1-4 players.

Available weapons: The standard pistol and melee.

Objective: You must work as a team to travel from one location to another. No vehicles are drivable, so you must travel on foot. Zombies have cone vision like the cops do. If spotted, the zombies will run towards you, and can run slightly faster than you can. Zombies cannot use ladders, so you can use cover and rooftops to get from point A to point B.

These missions should involve long distances, such as from the Eclipse towers to the strip club or something. Of course, the harder missions would be located out in the desert where there is little cover.

They could make a kinda story out of it, where your team has to travel to different places to collect items to find a cure or something.

I speculate this Tuesday new user-created jobs will be introduced.

Maybe some GTA 5 characters with Reddit noses.

Remember you need double the space to download and install a patch. So by your math, a 58mb patch wouldn't install. I hope the next update is hig but it looks like even a small update is too much for a 12gb ps3. Edited by blk95ta

I think they like it. I mean they could just tell us a bit about what is going on with next gen or heists. How hard can it be? They enjoy seeing the rage. People wouldn't hate so much if they have a good reason. They kind of have a deadline with heists. People will never stop going on about them until they just bring them out. Thats the only reason I want them to come out so then R* can work on bigger things

You need double the space because the system downloads the update to a temp folder on the hard drive, then installs it, then deletes the temp file. It's the way computers work. There has to be enough room for the downloaded file and the installed file at the same time in order for it to work properly.

Well that PlayStation magazine should be interesting. I think it will be like a little thing in there that says GTA V is also rumored to have zombies or something. I would love it if I was wrong though and we get an actual confirmation

Orrrr

Activision: we need this much in cash card sales, raise the prices of haircuts and T shirts

Rockstar: haircut prices raised to 25,000 and t shirt prices raised to 50k

I like your thought. No worries but,I did post this back around page 185 I think. How cool would it be cursing with those though. Good call. If so,they have to add the song Dragula and original The Munsters theme song.

It would be cool if Activision actually makes Rockstar make another map BUT if they still keeping the small updates for free and only the big ones paid, then it would make almost no difference at all.
