i still don't see why people are saying no to this? i do not see why you should even have a problem if it is to be a paid DLC. and quit acting like you guys spent $150 on a few in game items. the majority of that money you guys spent on the CE was for actual real items. also we all know if people enough people want them to be available then R* would most likely do it because it would make them more money. in the end we would still be paying for CE content, only we wouldn't be paying for all the extra junk they offered in the CE.

 

I hate how people forget the physical content. If you sum up the price based on prizes of similar items from Rockstar's store and amazon, you likely get around 150$. The shirt, cap, map and bag are the meat of the deal. You paid for the physical content and the digital bonuses are just that.

 

Also I remember making a post about this. Don't care as much about the content as I did because I tired the weapons and was disappointed but migh points some points. On the poll to that thread it proposed 5$-20$ as a price. 5$ had most votes, 20$ second and 10$ last but I thought 10$ was the best price. Currently I think bundled with the 10$ - 100$ cash cards but I am certain the next generation release will also bring all content.

So pre-orders, pre-order content and disk-locked content are bad. Microstransactions tend to be recieved similarly and this is kinda like it but 1 bad is better than 4 bads.

So I think Collector's, Limited and Pre-Order bonuses should be downloadable content. All 3 in one package buyable in the in-game store, Xbox Marketplace or Playstation store. This would help late buyers, used game buyers, downloaded copies, and will probably this way in Steam. When/if it comes out on PC, It will likely come in 2 versions, Standard and Digital Deluxe like most other games with special editions on PC.

 

To add more points to my cause:

The Collector's Edition is not in limited supply. At first I was taking the word of a few poster's here on that fact but checked a bit myself, found a few online and at a local Sears, At a reduced price even. Would buy if...

 

Collector's Edition is not worth it. Even if I was just buying it before owning my own copy GTA V, GTA V's Collector's Edition just doesn't stand up against any recent Collector's Edition. Look at Fallout 3 and New Vegas Editions, They had 100 page artbooks, "Making Of" documentaries, a bobblehead and lunchbox, casino chips, playing cards from the game as replica-ish real life items. Assassin's Creed 2, Halo Reach, Titanfall, Halo 3, Borderlands 2. If you look the Collector's Edition for these games you will find great deals and something worth having. I wanted to link each but since on Xbox Internet, can't really. I'd welcome someone posting a link to each or any other example. GTA 5, not so much. It would be beneficial for the publisher and developers. By releasing the content, they would make potential profit on every GTA copy out there, be it new, digital, used and even pirated. All without having to spend money actually having to develop new content.

 

While this clashes with the last point, it is not very hard to get the same content by illigitimate means. Not going into details since not sure how forum rules stand by this. Just few examples: DNS users have the content, glitches, importing the file with Horizon, IOS and ROM hacks.

 

Like I already stated, It will most likely be this way in PC. The content probably will be DLC, a Digital Deluxe edition or won't be locked away at all, standard for every player. Anyone who bought the game digitaly in XBL or PSN has no way of getting the content, being punished for buying it digitaly which is usually superior to fisical copies. Some players have no choice and have to buy digitally because of hardware failure or copies not being available.

 

Pre-order and Disk locked content is anti-consumer. It is a hook to make the consumer pay at release for new copies as fast as possible while also making you pay extra for content locked out of normal use. Exclusive content is only tasteful when it doesn't affect the core game. Halo Reach had a nice exclusive, special armor permutation, your helmet had fire. You aren't missing anything from the core game and it doesnt change the game at all. Bad examples of exclusive content are Mass Effect (or every EA special Edition) and Elder Scrolls Online. Mass Effect had a major plot point of the game, the last member of an extinct race, as pre-order. Mass Effect and many EA titles let you start out with exclusive and overpowered armor at the start of the game. In Elder Scrolls Online, the option to choose any army no matter of race is available if you pre-order, completely voiding an important point in the war and race choice. It also locks a complete race, armor and several items behind the collectors edition. These bad examples have been critizised by their each community. While GTA V's disk locked content is not as serious, it is still unobtainable when already in the disk.

My grammar was terrible on that. xD The old post because it was written on Xbox and the new one because I kept switching tabs to check the prices. Think I said it but all prices summed up hit the 150$ price.

 

People don't want it sold because they want the vanity of owning something unique which I totally understand. Some have pride of the items and unfortunately some are just assholes looking to show off. However vanity tends to run out. Just see how little many owners of CE use their cars and guns. Personally I think Chrome and Gold paints would have been the best exclusive items. Only cosmetic and give the same vanity without removing from other player's experience. It better represent they spent the extra money and can be used on anything. Before someone points to the chrome and gold hate, remember that only exists because it is overused. If it was an exclusive, it would be a rarely seen gem. Rockstar would also have no reason to release it later if it is just cosmetic.

I paid $150 for everything that came with the package, as it was all exclusive. I like my exclusive items to stay exclusive, as I paid $150 for them. I enjoy showing off my exclusive items, that are rare since you either paid $150 or cheated and DNSed them if you have them.

I do agree with some points you've said, but I don't have the nerves to answer to your post in full detail as I'm on my phone and I hate posting on my phone

But to clear things up about this disc locked content: you have to keep in mind that all players need the content because of compability issues. CE players wouldn't be able to play with regular players. What ahould the game do if you're sitting in a vehicle someone else hasn't even downloaded and/or got the files for? This is pretty much the deal for all DLCs. Even on CoD or BF it is mandatory to install partial DLC assets. Sure, maps are not needed, but weapons etc must be downloaded b everyone, even if they are locked for some.

So be it disc locked or mandatory download/update for everyone, it doesn't matter...

I think a DLC pack for a real world price would be a good idea (now whether it's a probable idea is a different matter). Because the game itself only costs $60 everything else you got with the C.E. (the bag, maps, etc.) cost us an extra $90. So we got a LOT even without the in-game content. Just my two-cents.

Seriously, if the base game was 145 L.D in my country, how much would the CE version be, that IF it did exist? And for the record, it took me a f*cking year to have 100, let alone the full price.
