Why is the AI worse than RDR, including animation?

I remember back in RDR days, when you were having a great shootout with your co-op friends or by yourself in single player. Great fun.

But as I was replaying the story mode in RDR, I notice that the AI is way better than GTA Online? You could disarm enemies by shooting them in the arm, shoot them in the leg and they would have difficulty walking, and if I remember correctly they would actually try to take cover. This all applied to MP3 as well, one of the best games I've played in 2012. Why did they dumb down the AI for GTA Online? For kids probably. Hopefully they deliver their promise of improved AI in the re-release this fall.

That does not make sense. Why would they have worse AI just for a different game? Last time I checked, worse AI doesn't make it right just because it's a different game.

My absolute favorite thing to do in RDR was shooting NPCs in both knees, walking up behind them, and splitting their head like a watermelon.

The AI is bad. They should've used the AI from either RDR, IV, or Max Payne 3. At least those games made sense.

I do suspect that the ai was throttled back for the older machines, maybe with the power of the new boxes we will see an improvement. I fact I think on of the things the have said is coming with the new consoles is improved AI.

Enemies do take cover in GTA though. But yeah, it's worse than in RDR in terms of interaction. But what the NPCs around the map are doing does seem to be more diverse.

What exactly is bad about GTA5's AIs? I seriously don't get it, I mean they get behind cover, they don't show themselves like idiots, they got good precision ( a bit overpowered but good ) ...

More animals, cats, pugs, hammerhead sharks, etc, Denser traffic, better draw distance, upgraded weather..... Need I say more?

They said that there is going to be new wildlife, denser traffic, upgraded weather effects, and "an array of new details to discover."

The MAJORITY of GTA V players will ALWAYS be on PS3/360...the minority will be on PS4/One...unless you're dumb enough to think that EVERYONE that bought GTA V almost a year ago is going to buy a new console and a new copy of GTA V...not happening, therefore there is absolutely no reason to add sh*t to a game that is already made...they would be putting that effort towards GTA 6
