Does SA have the most unrealistic missions ever?

This is clearly possible:

Maybe it actually is. A soldier so superior that achieving peak badass is possible.

Out of all the things to complain about, you complain about the missions being too unrealistic? Why not complain about the characters not dying to gunshots fired at point blank range too while you're at it? I mean, the main protagonist tanks bullets like he's the man of steel. A single bullet should kill him if the game is realistic.

I always saw GTA San Andreas as the Nirvana of video gaming. Nirvana thought of music more than lyrics. The same deal was with this game. The gameplay is the music and the story is the lyrics.

Lmao. I love this. I never realized how silly it truly was.

It's Area 69, not Area 51. So no, Area 69 shouldn't necessarily be hard to break into.

I think few people here understand the concept of fiction...

I always saw GTA San Andreas as the Nirvana of video gaming. Nirvana thought of music more than lyrics.

I strongly felt that the story was equally good and was the backbone, aimed at making the game really interesting. It worked really well to "make sense within the world and where you are in the story".

For me SA is an incomplete experience without the story. It was the characters, the writing, and their many stories combined together that defined the many moments, the gameplay and the game world itself!!

SA story was good as well as the gameplay.

As for the topic, SA has the most fun filled and entertaining missions ever. That's my opinion. Yes, it has some stretched out aspects but really I never thought about them as a big deal. It isn't game breaker nor immersion killer for me, so yeah, its cool.

Area 69 is physically based on Area 51, but you won't get ambushed by the army if you trespass it, just by some country cops and the FBI if you let them get close enough

It's not a real life simulator. It's a video game. I mean come on, have you ever heard of a street gangster blowing up vehicles with an arsenal of full-blown WWII weapons and killing 40 people with a dildo?

No. GTA V has to be the most unrealistic in mission design, the ways they force the player to not leave the mission areas, tightly controlled character switching scenarios with less freedom to experiment, and heavily scripted and linear in its execution.

Even the three protags have special abilities that quite clearly kill the immersion more than any GTA protag to date. Furthermore, the animals in GTA V are somehow able to alert the cops even when using stealth..wtf?

The game world seems designed to make me feel like they really dislike me for doing fun things and there is always a threat of cops being called and shooting at me anytime with death in coming for everything I do.

The wanted system and the paranoid peds in V are so horribly unrealistic in their behaviors than any GTA to date.

You can't access certain interiors which have been staple in the series.

The amount of weapons the player can carry are not even allowed to drop them, really? What a joke?

There are a lot of things in GTA V that when looked upon with close scrutiny towards the open world design and how hard they try to FAKE IT leaves no doubt on my mind that how unrealistic and lifeless the world seems to be.

GTA SA still had a lot of things that gave the game a lot of realistic feel even with multiple stretched out aspects of the missions. How believeable many of those things appear to be full of amazing quality in building a strong immersion, and soul.

Quite simply, GTA SA ROCKS!!! :^:

In terms of realism (storywise):

GTA III - 8/10 (Although there's some strange "coincidences", I can picture the events happening in real life)

GTA Vice City - 7/10 (Too much Scarface and badassery on Tommy's part)

GTA San Andreas - 4/10 (Where do I start. A young boy from the ghetto suddenly turning into Rambo?)

GTA IV - 10/10 (I can actually picture the events happening in real life - brilliantly written and realistic at the same time)

GTA IV: TLAD - 9/10 (Although an unlikely one, it's still a pretty realistic story)

GTA IV: TBoGT - 6/10 (Not nearly as realistic as its counterparts)

GTA V - 5/10 (Too much "coincidences" and superpowers in one place)

Both GTA V and SA have unrealistic missions, but I enjoyed them both, btw Mafia: City of Lost Heaven don't suck, it's better than Mafia 2.

I really beg to differ on your opinion about mafia 2

Come on.. If you get too realistic, you become the newer GTA games. I like the simple get his by the car and not slowly getting flung across town like in the new games... I like the simple splat when you jump off a skyscraper not the dramatic camera pan. In some regards, the old games are more realistic than the new ones. In some regards, the new ones are more realistic. But for playability, go for simple for sure!

That's what makes it stand out from the rest of GTA Titles. Specially the New Ones. It was all about having fun, causing chaos, and doing the impossible

Most unrealistic missions? Yeah, probably. It's up there at least. I'd much rather suspend my belief for a few hours and belt my way through satisfying, whimsical missions than loiter around on a street corner and engage in petty theft for an entire playthrough - pretty much the first 6 missions. I can't say I'd even finish the game, let alone pick it up repeatedly year after year for as long as I have. It's the variety and sheer cheek of these missions that make them enjoyable.

So it's unlikely you'd take CJ straight to the airport after returning home and nabbing a plane, but you can do it, and quite easily too. You mean to tell me this thug can just swan into an airport like that? And those heat seeking missiles! Since when did he get so good with those? Oh, and don't tell me - beating a cop to death with nothing but a vibrator and your underpants is forgotten about within minutes because you've found a wall to hide behind. They're moments that are peppered across the series, and they're fun. I don't think you were being dismissive of the game by calling them unrealistic. That's why I can agree with you and say that yes, the game is absolutely daft and is the most implausible thing since chocolate teapots... but that's why I love it.

I don't think SA's missions are any less realistic than the other games. Even GTA IV really isn't that realistic in most situations. With SA I feel the misconception comes from finding it hard to picture CJ doing all of these things he does.

In GTA IV for example because it doesn't have planes, tanks etc it appears to be more "realistic ", but Niko clearing a warehouse full of armed Russian thugs by himself is ludicrous to call realistic.

When it comes to the aircraft stuff, there is believability in CJ doing these things considering we go to school to learn how to fly planes, helicopters, and jump from the air to earn the pilots license. This also combines well with the stat aspect. Edited by ESAgamer503

I will repeat. It is a game, even a Book and TV has its unbelievable or stretched facts to make it enjoyable.

Why does the Fuel Depot have a gate house, and the "secret" area 69 has an open gateway like a cheap tennis court

The RC is a carry-over from previous games (Vice City)

The Idea of a game is to give the player 40 hours or more of something to do, using as many controller skills as possible.

For its time, it used as much machine resources as then possible. Graphics had to give way to Play.

How many other games allow for variation from the Rut of a mission. different Vehicles, Weapons, approaches to those who want to try.

COD and its Kin usually don't allow any variation from the One approach that Must be used, and the limited weapons and movement. I find not being able to crawl, under a fence to attack from a different angle unrealistic, as well as the inability to sling a second weapon.

EVERYGame has its flaws, children don't see them or have no experience to notice them.

The Demand to have an Elaborate Story in detail leaves little to the imagination.

Yes, GTA San Andreas is unrealistic for a REAL Life, but it is a Game. And a quite entertaining one at that. The only game I have found better is the Elder Scrolls "Skyrim"

Fortunately San Andreas is unrealistic, video games are supposed to be fun and when there's a choice to make between fun and realism the choice should always go to fun.

For the record though, just because a mission is realistic, unrealistic or borderline BULLSH*T doesn't detract its "enjoying-ness". A realistic mission can be just as fun as an unrealistic mission. Black Project can be as fun as the IV mission where you attack a Construction Site (forgot the name).

I agree but there are times when creating a mission that would be both fun and realistic isn't possible. In this situation it's always a good thing if the mission is only fun.

Apart from Toreno's branch (including The Truth's missions in the desert. They couldn't have happened if CJ didn't work for Toreno) and a few other ones, I don't think so.

Ancient revived topic but I'll say my piece.

I actually said in a Discord server recently that GTA San Andreas is definitly the most adventurous GTA game to date, and I think that was the idea behind it. Why do you think so many come back to this game and still enjoy playing through it? The game obviously is not meant to be "realistic". You fly around on a Jetpack that you stole from a military research facility. You literally steal an Alien at one point (Green Goo). By the way for those unaware of what the Green Goo was suppose to be, I'm dead sure it's an Alien embryo. There's even an interview with The Truth on WCTR at that point in the game where he mentions he held Aliens in his own hands, or something like that (referring to the Green Goo you stole for him). But I digress.

It should be obvious the game is not designed to be realistic. I don't think any game is, apart from certain similation games. We deal with real life everyday, that is why we have video games, and that is why GTA SA is the way it is, and why it's a much loved classic.

Indeed, a game is made to enjoy. If it was realistic we couldn't do anything silly or funny at all. There would be no entretaining missions and the game would stand out because of it's boredom and simplicity rather than all the things they have make it awesome.

So now let me steal a jet from an aircraft carrier and destroy some boats.
