Why do idiots discredit Wikipedia by saying anybody can edit things there like they don't have any moderators or administrators to keep things in check.

Wikipedia's pretty accurate from what I've used. I mean yeah you might get some bullsh*t every now and then, but it's not that bad.

 

Even academics have started to embrace it as a good starting point for sources of information.

 

Well at my uni they still discredit it, not sure why. I could waste all of my time looking for articles or I could just go to wikipedia with the exact same information, which is more organized too.

 

 

I think the critique might be about not cross-checking the source(s) used in the article, and sometimes bits of the article might be from unreputable sources or lack citation completely.

 

I agree that it's a good starting point, but there IS misinformation present. I've accidentally used misinformation in a presentation myself, but fortunately enough(for me) this was deliberately spread misinformation which was pretty deeply embedded within the subject and regarded as fact, so the examiners didn't make a note of it. I only learned recently that it was a lie/joke, but it's still right there in the wiki article

It's sad to see too, the promos for new episodes go up early on that site, so the official SP page posts the link on fb/twitter and the comments are filled with, "cant access", "please make available in UK" etc.

 

And when they post on yt, the clips are shortened down.

Went on an age forum, someone said they were gay and I read this:

And then later says "you can stick it where you want, I'll just find it gross" like. It reminds me of idiots who say they're not homophobic but insist that people choose to be gay and refuse to understand it. You're just as bad, maybe even worse because then yoi're very stupid.

I have to admit it kind of grates me when I give an answer to someone's question in a Help and Support section and then other people come and give almost exactly the same answer.

Even more when they just pretend like your post doesn't exist and copy what you just said WORD FOR WORD. That's pretty annoying, and I get that some people want to just be helpful, but helpful isn't saying what I just said in the same exact way.

 

Anyway, I was gonna say that a pet peeve of mine would be talking to someone, and right before you finish (or right in the middle) saying something usually important, they are like "meh...pretty cool...I didn't hear what you said, probably important, but it don't matter...HEY DO YOU WANNA HEAR WHAT I WANNA SAY?!". Like seriously man, patience please.
