Tyla
My first thought upon reading Aftermath was literally "F*ck yeah, Tony Todd!" How has this man not been in a Rockstar title yet? So yeah, let me start by saying I admire your taste. Aftermath is more than worthy of your original story and lives up to all the Manhunt references you have littered throughout. Your opening is great (Haider about to shoot up morphine) and it only gets darker from there. Ambush at an abandoned ice rink. Gags, torture, cattle prods. Exactly the imagery I want when I'm eating my dinner. It's a great introduction and sets the tone well for the rest of the story. It's mainly a series of shootouts but your eye for good locations make them sound plenty fun. Terrence is a good protagonist. He's obviously out of work since the main story and times are tough seen as he's in debt to Santarelli. I don't think it's as much a story about him than it is one about Carcer City but I enjoyed it all the same. And good lord, did I see organ harvesting as a mini-game? The soundtrack updates are great (the Head just gets better and better) and I love the new cars. The One-Hundred and the Turkey... Great work. TheCzar
Amazing work. I never actually played either Manhunt, but I would love to visit Carcer City. The whole dark, delapidated, impoverished aspect is very appealing, this was good in GTA IV, but could have gone further I think. Really good job and like the gritiness of the concept. ObsydianRaven
(Logo by Slave Boy) INTRODUCTION: 1990, the Carcer City underworld is in chaos. he three crime families of the Wapona Trinity have merged together to form the Wapona Mob. This new organization, has become the new dominate power in the Carcer underworld. A journalist attempting to expose the Wapona Mob's police and government connections, has been killed. Enter Troy Donahue, a former LCPD and brother of the murdered journalist. Hellbent on revenge, he must go undercover to take out the man responsible for killing his brother.himself stepping into a world of danger and risk, as he attempts to go undercover. STORY: The story opens up with a shot of a terminal inside Liberty City's Francis International Airport. Troy Donahue is walking down the terminal to get on his flight. Troy's brother, a journalist, was killed several months prior by some Wapona gangsters. Taking matters into his own hands, Troy will be going undercover, posing as a getaway driver with hopes of finding the man who killed his brother. Shortly after arriving in Carcer City, Troy heads up to Wapona and meets up with his contact, John Reni. The two then meet up with the boss of the Wapona Mob, Phil Schaffer. However, the three are ambushed by an unknown assailant. In the ensuing gunfight John is shot right in the head, and the car's tire is blown out. With no choice, Troy pulls out his Automatic Pistol (given to him earlier by John), and shoots the assailant. Afterwards, Schaffer offers him some work, which he agrees to do. Later on, Troy is sent to kill a shop owner who refuses to comply to the Wapona Mob's orders. Given a rope, Troy quietly breaks into the shop owner's home, and repeatedly smashes his head into his sink. Upon completion of his assassination job, Troy is given the number of Mr.X, a man who arranges contract killings, and can give more work to Troy. Schaffer gives Troy second job is to torture a journalist who threatened to expose Schaffer's control of the WPD. After nearly torturing the journalist to death, Troy throws him into a river. After few more jobs for Schaffer, Troy continues his search for clues about who murdered his brother. Later he is introduced to Sonny Budrick, Chief of the Carcer City Police. Three witnesses to a police brutality case are threatening to testify and have been placed into FIB witness protection. Chief Budrick needs these witnesses to be killed, and his informants have revealed their location. The first witness has been hiding on a Tropic in Carcer waters, the second is riding in the back of an FIB Granger, and the third is being brought to Carcer Regional Airport. After taking out the three targets, Sonny has Troy kill off a drug dealer in his apartment. After killing off the drug dealer and his goons, Sonny arrives at the scene with Phil Schaffer's son Gary, Deputy Chief of the CCPD. The two tamper with the crime scene to make it look like another gangland murder, and send Troy off to do some more dirty work for them. Meanwhile, Troy begins to suspect that either Phil, Gary, or Sonny is responsible for his brother's death. At one point, Troy is introduced to one of Gary's close associates, former Vinewood director Lionel Starkweather. who proposes a new idea that would gain more money for the Wapona Mob. This idea is to distribute snuff films, with enemies of the Wapona Mob as the victims in the movie. Gary agrees to this idea, however Starkweather says that he'll receive funding if he can impress Kenji Hidaka, a Japanese buisnessman who sells banned and snuff films on the Japanese black market. In order to get funding from Hidaka, Starkweather must make an impressive snuff film. Gary agrees to help with the making of this snuff film, and has Troy be it's main star, much to his dismay. Being given a metal baseball bat, and an Assault Shotgun (for when things get extremely heated). Troy along with a man with a video camera, sneak into the abandoned Darkwoods Art Museum which is the main hideout of the Joker'z Wild gang. Using the baseball bat, Troy and the cameraman sneak around the museum, brutally beating sleeping Jokers to death. However when they're caught, a massive bloodbath ensues as Troy guns down almost the entire Jokers gang which then attracts the attention of the Darkwoods Police. After escaping the police, they return to Starkweather and Hidaka, who is very impressed by the footage. With Starkweather's snuff film ring established, he becomes a full associate of the Wapona Mob. Later he has Troy clear out some property that he wants to use as filming locations for his snuff films. Meanwhile, Troy's further investigation into his brother's murder leads him into finding out via Gary, that Sonny Budrick killed his brother on behalf of father. He also reveals that the Wapona Mob is being divided over whether his father should remain in power due to his increasing drug habits. After a heated argument with Phil, Troy and Gary realize that they'll need to take him and Budrick out. Troy, Gary, and several of Gary's goons storm the Schaffer mansion. When a gunfight ensues, Troy makes his way through the mansion to take out Sonny who is being protected by several of his CCPD thugs. After taking them out and finishing off Sonny. He then makes his way up to Phil's room in the mansion, where he is ambushed and disarmed by Phil. However just as he is about to waste Troy, Gary walks into the room with his gun drawn. Before Phil can react, he is shot several times in the legs, causing him to instantly fall to the ground. He then receives a killing blow the head. After Sonny and Phill's deaths, Gary becomes chief of police after falsifying a story that the CCPD went after Phil for connections to a homicide, while secretly he becomes head of the Wapona Mob. Troy, while satisfied with avenging his brother, has taken a liking to his position as a close associate of the Wapona Mob. Together with Lionel Starkweather, he becomes the co-founder and CEO of Valiant Video. CHARACTERS: Troy Donahue Born to a Korean War Veteran and a cook, Troy grew up in Liberty City's Northwood area with his parents and his brother, whom he had been close to. Later he joined the Liberty City Police Department. He later became a detective and soon after, his career became marked with corruption, and several instances of brutality, all of which he was cleared of. However he left the force after nearly being indicted for one of these incidents. His time in the LCPD had given him the advantage of understanding how both criminals and law enforcement operate, giving him an edge in the Carcer underworld. He is voiced by Laurence Fishburne. Phil Schaffer Head of the Wapona Mob, Mr.Schaffer is a calm, cruel, and calculating man. Having ran the Schaffer Family mob since the mid-1970s, he saw the advantage of merging the three German-American crime families together into one powerful organization. With Wapona's criminal underworld under his control, he had begun to set his sights on the underworld of neighboring Carcer City. He is voiced by Sam Neil. Sonny Budrick Carcer City's Chief of Police. To the public he is a man who believes in the power of justice, and a man who wants to put Carcer's criminals behind bars. However in reality, he is just like the department he runs, extremely crooked and corrupt. Throughout most of his career as the police chief, he's had connections with some of the Carcer underworld's most powerful figures such as Randall James. He is voiced by Kevin Spacey. Gary Schaffer Phil Schaffer's son, and the Deputy Chief of the Carcer City Police. Using falsified records, anything in his records that may possibly link him the Wapona Mob (save for his name) have been removed, and the only person in the CCPD who's aware of his connections is Sonny Budrick. Gary is extremely cruel to his enemies, and the general populace. He's also somewhat nasty to his allies. He is voiced by Colin Farrell. Lionel Starkweather Once a mildly successful Vinewood director throughout the 1970's. Starting in 1981 his films began to flop, soon he became a joke among the Vinewood elite, even his longtime friend Solomon Richards shunned him. Upon returning to his hometown of Darkwoods, he began to direct cheap pornography, and in 1988 he released his first snuff film which caught the attention of both the Wapona Mob, and Japanese businessman Kenji Hidaka. He is voiced by Brian Cox. Kenji Hidaka A shady businessman and distributor of illegal movies on the Japanese black market. From banned films to illegal pornography to snuff films, he sells it all. He has come to the United States to set up a deal with Lionel Starkweather. He is voiced by Susumu Terajima. Mr.X (Alleged photo of Mr.Ex) A mysterious man, he plans assassinations for anyone who's willing to pay top dollar, and gives out orders to the assassins. Nobody knows who his true identity is, and he has never been seen in person. He is voiced by Ron Perlman. NEW GAMEPLAY: Snuff Film Ring: After completing work for Lionel Starkweather, players can partake in his Snuff Film ring. The Snuff Film ring comes several types of side missions. Actor: Players take the lead role of a snuff film. Using a mix of stealth, and brute force, players must travel through an environment executing a certain number of enemies until they reach a checkpoint. A camera man with a video camera will follow the player around, and must be protected. Enforcer: In Enforcer side missions, players are sent to the snuff film sets to make sure the "actors" don't get out of hand. When they do, the players must beat them into submission and put them back in line. Asset Protection: In this type of side mission, players must defend Starkweather's snuff film sets that are being attacked by law enforcement or gangs. Contract Killings: Given to the player by Mr.X, the player will either receive a call from him or can call him requesting for some work. There are several types of Contract Killings. There is also a unique category of weapons made just for Contract Killings (see weapons section). Stalker: These types of Contract Killings have the player follow a target on foot while keeping their distance. When reaching a secluded area such as an alley way, the player can use either rope, barbed wire, or a plastic bag to silently kill the target. Environmental Executions can also be used as well. Collision: Players must crash into the target's car until the target is killed. In order to make it look like an accident, no weapons cannot be used. Doctor Death: Disguised as a doctor, the player must go into a hospital and take out a targeted patient who's going to testify in a major case. The player must find a way to get into the security office, and shut off the cameras. Then they'll have to travel to the patient's room, avoiding all security guards on the way, and then take out the patient using a syringe filled with cyanide. Car Bombing: Players are given the location of a target's vehicle. Under a time limit, the player must set up the bomb. Upon leaving the area, the target will get into their car which will then explode. Office Massacre: The player must take the disguise as an office worker and make their way to the main office of the CEO. Using a unique submachine gun that can be folded and disguised as a briefcase, the player must quickly way waste to the target. What usually follows is a heated gun fight against security personal and law enforcement. Interrogations: Occasionally, the Wapona Mob will need some help getting info on someone who's making moves against them, and the player can help extract that info. Players must use almost any methods necessary to get info out of the target, however they cannot kill them. NEW WEAPONS: Grand Theft Auto:Undercover introduces a new class of weapons to the series: Assassination. Assassination weapons can only be used in Contract Killings. ASSASSINATION: Folding SMG Car Bomb (Remote) Rope Plastic Bag Barbed Wire Razor Blade Cyanide Filled Syringe NEW VEHICLES: SPORTS CARS: Alpha ZR-350 MUSCLE CARS: Hermes TWO-DOORS AND COUPES: Fable Remington FOUR-DOORS AND SEDANS: Glendale Stretch NEW SONGS: 92.5 The Hits: Head Radio: Rock Nation Radio: Radio Armageddon: Anthrax-Blood Carcer Beats 105.5: 107.9 The Jam: Lost Entity-Annihilate Vision-The Other Side of Life (Instrumental) The Machine: Carcer City For Vampires: Edited December 29, 2014 by ObsydianRaven The_Anti-tragedy, Niko Montana, ClaudeSpeed1911 and 2 others 5 Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/724881-grand-theft-auto-carcer-city/page/4/#findComment-1066728221 Share on other sites

Tyla
Holy sh*t. Undercover may well be your best yet. Where do I start with Troy Donahue? That is how you pull off a dark past. Grew up in Northwood, joined and rose to detective in the LCPD at a time when black police officers weren't encouraged. Beats corruption and brutality charges and then leaves the department. There's enough room with him to imagine if he was a good cop in his own way. I actually wish you went into more detail about what he did after leaving the LCPD, he's that sketchy a character. I liked that the story didn't slow down. With Aftermath I was kind of drifting in and out of it beyond the introduction but Undercover has me hooked. The Schaffers and Lionel Starkweather are some of your best characters yet. Brian f*ckin' Cox. Loved the Solomon Richards reference by the way. Let's talk mini games. These are ingenious. You deserve major props for writing out the different variations for the Snuff Film Ring/Assassinations. Some of the best I've seen. I didn't think you could top organ harvesting but you have. And I second/third what everyone is saying about the folding SMG. Awesome. If this isn't in the next game someone needs to send Donahue to have a word with them. With the soundtrack updates I can see what you were saying about early 90s culture basically being an extension of the 80s. Great job. Everyone take notes - this is how to do your DLC. ObsydianRaven
I liked that the story didn't slow down. Brian f*ckin' Cox. Loved the Solomon Richards reference by the way. I will admit, the story for Aftermath probably wasn't my best work which is why I spent quite a lot of time coming up with a better story for Undercover. Without a doubt it wasn't easy to come up with minigames and gameplay features that could top off the ones from the main concept and Aftermath, but I managed to come up with what I did. I must say I'm pretty happy to see such positive feedback. Hopefully the features of the next DLC (Downfall) that I've come up with can top what's been introduced so far. On the topic of the Downfall DLC, due to being a prequel to Carcer City it'll definitely be quite a unique DLC with loads of new content to fit it's 1983 setting, and the story as well. With it being set five years previous to the main game are you going to have to replace the entire soundtrack and vehicles list? Almost every vehicle on the vehicle list will be replaced with an earlier model. Some remain the same, while some of the older pre-1988 cars from Aftermath and Undercover will make an appearance. The entire soundtrack will also be replaced with one that fits the 1983 setting. Most of the radio stations return, while there will be a new station or two. ObsydianRaven
Just an update, Downfall is going to be put on hold for a while due to a lack of ideas for it. However with that said, there will be updates to the main concept. These include huge changes to the Setting section, and changes to the soundtrack as well (The Hits will lose some songs though gain new better ones as well) with the possible addition of a few new radio stations. Also there will be an addition of a bonus chapter to the main story, unlocked via 100% completion of the game.
