Afraid to go out in public?

I understand nobody likes to get killed unexpected

 

About 3-4 weeks ago i made friends with a guy who is close to my age, i though yahoo

But over the past few weeks every time i join him in a lobby its a invite/freinds only lobby and his friends list is a lot shorter than mine, so there is never more than 3 or 4 tops in a lobby ..in free roam it does not bother me that much because i never stay in free roam long ... but i do see when you are hunting cars or just exploring the map where those small private lobbys are the way to go

 

He would normally start a mission or race and only the guys he knew and i knew were the ones playing, he would kick strangers out just as soon as they entered always keeping it our two or 3 person lobby

 

I asked him why whats the deal with you and strangers, how did he expect to meet other people (not remembering i had only met him thru another player that was on his list also)

well he stated i dont like people i dont know........I laughed an said i thought i was the one with name Grumpy in his name

so i started hosting the missions and races and started inviting people in using auto invite ect, and yes it can be a can of worms as to the kind of players who join,

 

well last night we voted to do the race "Chicken Drifting" several random players asked for me to set it to GTA, so i did, My friend asked me to set it to Non-Contact.......I laughed and said if i did that it would mean we were chickens and let the majority rule and left it GTA style

well after a couple of head on collisions and being blown up ..he went off on me and the randoms over being hit with the missiles....

 

I told him to stop being a pussy it was a gta race anything goes....well that didnt go over to well , I dont know if were are friends today or not

 

But anyway how can you play this game always with the same 2 or 3 people, always doing the same thing the same way never going out into public

 

am i the crazy one here??

You maybe crazy.. I much prefer playing this game without known other players are around. I'm going to loooove lobbies where everyone is off radar if that arrives. I don't mind having other people being on the map, I just don't want them to know I'm there unless by chance.

However, ill accept going off the handle does scream nutjob in bright green letters so perhaps you should sticky bomb his car to show your displeasure

I find hard lessons are the best lessons.

 

My first go online my mate was showing me round in his chopper. I asked him what the other players were like so he showed me........by parachuting out and leaving me to die.

 

I learned after 1 lesson not to ask dumb questions lol

It's not hard to avoid being killed or to kill. They are still a ton of stupid players in most lobbies and many getting run over repeatedly AFK by a holes so I am not sure what he is afraid of.

 

Most people go the other way if they see you point toward them on the map as they come towards. If nothing else you can find cover or set a few stickies and lead into a trap. Worst case use passive and jump onto some planter or something.

 

Someone is lacking common sense. Or maybe his TV is too small and he can't see the map well so he hides.

I also avoid public lobbies, have no interest in chasing other players nor getting shot when I'm out of a mission.

 

I play missions and survivals with randoms. Free lobby? No.

 

Like creative and cooperative gameplay. Or fights against the cops. Not against other players.

You wouldn't just ask the street corner drug dealer and local meth cooks to join you in a high scale bank robbery. So why would he want some random choad messing up his missions.

 

If you like open lobbies. Then join them. Tell him their are times you like it. However forcefully dragging him into one was a prick move and he had all right to be upset.

 

OP, I'd bet you are removed from his list and possibly blocked. You was clear how he preferred to play and proceeded to shoot him in the back. Dick move dude.

Just kidding, obviously he has had some bad/negative experiences in the world of kaos otherwise know as 'Free-Roam'.

 

This is where you are free to roam around and either kill or be killed, or sometimes help other players or be helped by other players.

 

The later scenario is not the usual one though, so it is un-doubtful that your friend has experienced more of the former as opposed to the later.

 

Now, to help with this issue what you could do is (as others have suggested) help him with his PvP fighting, or maybe buy a tank and lend it to him

 

I suspect he does not enjoy DM/LTS type game modes, he sounds more like a co-op player rather than a FPS player (i.e. COD/etc.).

 

Maybe invite him to play a few of the R* created ones and he will learn more about how to combat other players in free-roam, using PvP player battle techniques such as stealth/cover - when to attack/defend oneself, etc.

 

If he really doesn't like playing with 'strangers' (everyone is a stranger until you meet them and talk to them/interact) that is fine.

 

He won't have as much fun playing the game as he could have though, a full lobby can be great fun - if you enjoy that kind of complete chaos that is
