Cars can't get dirty?

Is this a bug in my game or do clean cars not get dirty when you drive through the desert/through fields/through lakes (like those wetlands below Fort Zancudo)?

If so then that's a hughe disappointment to me. :(

Here's a tip: Make a quick save in SP, while in a dirty vehicle. Usually being somewhat north on the map, quick saving in a vehicle, and then reloading that save will make the car dirty. As long as you load into SP before going online, with this quick save, your vehicles will get dirty. I hope this helps.

The do get dirty but it can take a while of driving around the desert/field areas.

Cars can get dirty a lot faster when they're damaged.

Okay I didn't know. I drove my white sportscar through the desert and nothing happened, no sand on the windows and so on...?

It isn't very well known or documented, but ever since I figured it out I never go online without a save like that. A few of my friends have confirmed it as being a true 'method' to get cars dirty

It's possible in SP as far as I know, I've had dirty cars in SP.

I seem to recall taking a dirty car to the car wash at some point and wondering why I can't clean up pre-dirtied cars like the rusty Voodoo.

Signatures are dumb anyway.

I'm not sure what the circumstances are for SP. My cars seem to get dirty normally. The way i described should probably work for SP *sorry i forgot which section i was in lol*

They can get dirty but it takes quite abit. I'd say its more 'dusty' than dirt though. I think it they should be able to get filthy when you drive through .. say Paleto forest when its raining.

I haven't had any issues with cars getting dirty, all seems pretty good to me.

Drive through desert, gets dusty as f*ck.

Drive through heaps of mud and I get patches of mud all over the place and gets pretty dirty.

My car also gets dirty just ripping up the airport and sometimes accidently drifting through the grass...

The absolute easiest way to get any car dirty in SP is to put it in Trevor's Sandy Shores garage, switch characters, switch back, and the car in the garage will be filthy.

I noticed that, too ^^^ My Stinger GT and Bati RR inside Trevor's Sandy Shores garage always has dirt toward the bottom, even without using the vehicles, lol...

Same here. Driving my car in countryside for ten minutes makes my car a piece of sh*t.

On the trails or legit offroading? I do both and there's nothing that makes them dirtier than either that one construction yard or Trevor's garage.

the guy who made this thread got busted. Lol

But in topic, cars do get dirty over time. Thing is, when you repair the vehicle in LS customs, it gets clean automatically. Making the carwashes unnecessary in GTA V

Carwashes in GTA 4 were useless too, aside from just that one mission for Vlad.

How were they useless? The cars did get dirty in IV and the only way to clean them was via a car wash. That's why I used them all of the time.

The car washes in V wee useless but I still used them for realistic roleplaying purposes.

I'm not really sure how the car washes in GTA IV and GTA V are useless when they have a real use unlike the car washes in the 3D era that were nothing more than scenery.

Anyway I personally like my Sanchez as dirty as possible.

I really couldn't really care if my car was dirty, seeing as I just ended up stealing another car.

Speaking of, couldn't cars in San Andreas get dirty?

When we get a new DLC car I drive it from my LS garage to the desert for a customisation and photo shoot.

The car is always dirty by the time I get to the Alamo Sea but a quick character switch ensures a nice clean finish:

You're not seeing the point NippleTwister my amigo.

To me the car washes are a great role playing tool. If vehicles couldn't get dirty I would agree there wouldn't be much of a point. It's kind of like saying what's the point of buying weapons when there are weapons pick ups all over the map? Freedom of choice my friend.

In IV cars would get dirty very often specially if you drive through muddy roads and such, in GTA V even if you drive through the desert it won't get dirty dinamically speaking, unless you wait a very very long.time :/ and even then it just looks lame

That's a point. I don't do weapon pickups seeing as it's more conveinent to buy weapons, like how if a car gets dirty, I'll just take another one.

Cars got dirty in SA didn't they? Or they might've in the beta, seeing as they said car washes would work before it came out.

I did the quick character switch thing the other day with my Tailgater in order to get my driver's side window back up and I did notice that my car was cleaner. That could become very convenient. :^:

Not only on the trails or offroad, on a highway in countryside is enough to make my car dirty. My car is a "dirt" magnet.
