I Have Had It With Cops

Cops need fixed in this game, simple as. Here's a story for ya...

So yesterday I was in Sandy Shores and decided to check Trevors lab; see if the back door would open to allow me upstairs without having to climb through the window - I know, I'm a lazy fk. Anyways, I go to the back of the shop and the shop keeper is all like

"Hey boye, you ain't allow back dare, hurr durr"

So I get a star and he turns hostile. I shoot him in his facial region with a silenced weapon to shut him up, I still get an extra star anyways. I come out the shop to find TWO cop cars outside within seconds (were they skiving work round the back or what!?) and they do not attempt arrest me, they just start shooting. So I take all four of them out. Now I have 3 stars. I turn back to the shop to take cover behind the counter because before the fourth cop even hits the floor, there's two more cars coming at me. Just before I get inside I see one cop car MERCILESSLY MOW DOWN 3 innocent by-standers.

They come at me through the front of the shop and get two barrels of shotgun goodness to the groin. I now have 4 stars, and can't move from my position as there's a freakin' uniform jamboree going outside. As more run in the front door like idiots, one by one they take a spray of bullet sandwiches like a pack of zombies. I now have 5 stars, and it goes on like this for an HOUR. By the time I'm bored I reckon I've killed no less than 200 men. All because...

I wanted to look in the back area of a shop.

Because having a cop run into your car barely should give you a one star wanted level.

Cops have got to be the most annoying thing in GTA 5. I get wanted lvls more from looking at cops and crashing into walls or other cars (REALLY A WANTED LVL FOR TAPPING A WALL?) than I do for stealing a car. I was also just having a nice stroll in the desert when another player comes near by with a wanted lvl and I get plowed over by a cop. BAM, wanted lvl. Also being around a player with a wanted lvl can give u 1. It seems like no matter what I do, I always have a wanted lvl. Anyone else care to share their rage for cops?

C'mon. It's easy evading 1 or 2 stars, just stay away from their field of vision.

Or if you fail doing so and instead happen to increase your wanted level to 3 or 4 stars, just call Lester if you want to get rid of them.

I agree, it can be annoying when you're in the middle of something and happen to crash into a cop car or run over a pedestrian or whatever, but if you play it right you're usually clean in a matter of seconds.

(Advice: drive into an alley where the cops don't see you, exit your car and put on a par of glasses in your inventory and your wanted level with immediately disappear. Sometimes stepping out of the car and walking a few metres away is enough...)

Yes cops are easy to evade on 1 or 2 stars but it's how sensitive they are that pisses me off. It does my f*cking head in, I played for a couple hours today and I got one star about 5 times for doing nothing but DRIVING AROUND, I GOT COPS FOR DRIVING AROUND! R* should focus on this crap for a change. It better be fixed in the NG versions or i'll be greatly disappointed.

It's not about how easy to evade. Hell, 5 star is easy to evade too by going to alleyways and tunnels. The problem is how aggressive, sensitive, accurate, over-powered, and buffed they are. Yes, I'm also talking about the f*cking catch up feature they always use and then magically turn our wheel left or right. Cheap difficulty concept.

The only thing that annoys me about cops is there have been special occurrences where I've had to repeatedly go back and forth to the impound, like 5 times in 6 mins or something. It'd be cool if there was a cutoff as to how many times your car could get impounded in a certain time frame but that hasn't happened to me in a while

I think there's a few people in here who are basically just jumping on the bandwagon and saying sh*t just because.

People saying they got 1 star for hitting a wall... Or just simply driving around.. You're full of sh*t if I'm completely honest.

The police do not engage you for just "driving" around. You must have done something to provoke actions, yeah the Police are dumb / glitchy but I've never gained a chase or a star simply by driving around.

Hitting a wall? Maybe you hit a pedestrian, a pedestrian called it in, (highly unlikely) but you clipped a Patrol Unit and then hit a wall.. Let's just be honest, you can't gain a wanted level for smashing into a wall unless something happened beforehand.

The Police have been stupid since forever, but the core mechanics of them aren't that strict, so for the people typing up a fictional story of how you were casually strolling down the road, looked at a lamp post and then instantly got ran down with a wanted level.. You're wasting your time.

Unless you have actual video evidence of these occurances, then by all means.

I enjoy police chases. The rubberbanding a.i. really brings me back to NFSMW (2005). I agree that foot patrol have frickin' aimbot though. Also screw those damn SUV Units!

Most times they don't bother me. What pisses me off is when myself and someone I'm attacking are separated by cops and my auto-aim keeps attaching to police, whilst the person fighting me seemingly has no issues and I get gunned down.

There should be an option to turn the auto-aim off in regards to cops/NPCs. There should also be an option for crew, so you don't end up killing someone in your crew during a street battle with another group. In a crew of 700+, you can't exactly have them all on your friends list, can you?

I've gotten stars for no reason before as well. Two examples being: Directly after calling Lester for wanted level removal. Stars disappear and then another pops up immediately. Also, on respawn. I've died and come back with a wanted level. These have only occured during very intense battles with nearly an entire server having a brawl downtown. I haven't encountered them alone or amongst two or three players.

My apologies, I take it back, if you do indeed get one star for trivial things as mentioned then who am I to say anything.

Therefore I retract my comment, as I've never personally experienced this problem.. Well that's what it is really isn't it? A glitch in the system?.. Seeing as people receive a wanted level for practically spawning in online it seems.

You're over-exaggerating it. You don't get wanted stars for slamming into walls. You may have hit a pedestrian or vandalised something, but you didn't get the star for simply hitting the wall. That doesn't happen.

Actually u do, If you run into an object like another car, wall, trash can, near or close to a cop, you can get a wanted lvl.

Is your avatar black or hispanic? Just curious

I think he is Hispanic. His skin color is lighter than normal but I just randomly made him and he looks Hispanic. He also had a Mexican dad so I would say yes, Not that that has to do with anything, does it? On a side not his Mother was Asian, His grandpa was white and His Grandma was black.

I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it, but you can get a 1 star wanted level now just for being inside an stolen car, even if you didn't get any stars when you first stole it.

Has anyone else had the experience of having 5 stars and hiding in the subway when the cops start shooting u through 10 feet of concrete, and then the searchlight from the helicopter shines through too? R* should patch that and make it to were after holding a wanted lvl for so long or killing a certain amount of cops and feds that they give up and you go free.

That might be because you're standing/sitting underneath a grate that they can see you through (that hole that the gang use to helicopter the gold out of in one of the single player heist scenarios).

Just go deeper into the tunnel, or go onto the subway. That usually does the trick.

I was on Mount Chiliad, swung a hammer and got a one star. Few seconds later a squadron of cop cars somehow climb up the mountain and start hunting me down. Bullsh*t.

@ZenJenga You can change your auto-aim's preference to "low priority" for friends/crew in the options, doing this makes aiming at cops easier in a scramble with friends/crew mates.

I've been given a star for bumping a cop lol. Ran past him outside a police station, caught him with my shoulder, next thing I know he wants to see my lovely brains! I'm all for swift justice but I'm pretty sure the death-penalty is a little bit much for bumping into someone.

Do they even bother with courts in Los Santos?

You K.O'd a gang member?

DEATH SENTENCE!

You quad-biked on a beach?

DEATH SENTENCE!

You stole a chocolate bar!?!?

DEAAAAATH SENTENCE!

I'll bet the lawyers chant "FINISH HIM" to the judge at the end of every hearing. Yeah, the Robocops need dialed back a bit for petty crimes, it's just stupid as it is right now...

Hey WHAT IS going on you guys, my name is EvilFuture, here with a BRAND NEW no cops secret glitch after patch 1.15. Now, before I start this post, let me just say to SMASH that like button, and let's try to get to 500,000 likes within one hour! Let's get on with the post...

The first thing you wanna do is call up Lester. He is going to say something stupid like "oh, well if it isn't my creepy silent friend", but just ignore that. Next, you want to scroll down until you see the option "Cops turn blind eye". This glitch DOES cost you $5000 each time, so if you're running low on money, check my channel for the NEW money glitch. Anyway, THEN what you wanna do, is press X on the PS3, and A on the Xbox 360. NOW, you will notice a little timer in the bottom left for 3 minutes. And that's it! No more cops for a full 3 minutes, and you have successfully done the glitch. You can do this an unlimited amount of times, and practically NEVER have cops!

Hope you guys enjoyed the post, don't forget to subscribe to my channel for the LATEST and GREATEST Grand Theft Auto 5 content, and also, help me on the road to 1 TRILLION subscribers. My name is EvilFuture, and I'm out...

No, for real, I really wish there was a no cops option. It would be so simple, just disable all of the money making stuff, like Armored Trucks, robbing stores, etc. I would be all over that like flies on sh*t.

not perfect but might help you

holy sh*t

Have you tried pulling over to the side of the road like you're supposed to do when you hear sirens?

I definitely agree. Why is it that if you, for example have a wanted level, and then hide on literally the other side of the map, for some reason the police just happen to be searching there.

Yep. No busted mechanic in GTA Online, so they just shoot the hell out of you.

The cops are certainly one of the more annoying features of online. What makes it even worse is losing them is not the same as in SP where you can cruise by in a different vehicle and not be discovered. Cops are always rolling in to ruin a good time too.

"what's that, we got a group of individuals in a gun battle, someone send in the fun police to shut it down"

I hate that when you don't have a wanted level and you're in a buzzard you cannot turn off police locking. You're forced to either retreat or hope your target ends up close to a cop you can fire upon and the splash damage hits them.

IMO getting chased by cops is essential to Online.. Gameplay just wouldn't be the same without it.

Sure, maybe R* should implement a sort of "Wild west/Anarchy game mode" where there'd be no cops, for those who want that.. Seems like it would be appreciated by some.

I for one think that getting the cops after me is really fun and a great pastime.. But then I play a lot by myself and don't engage in that much chaos together with others. But when I do, sure, there'll be lots of cops there to "ruin the fun" although I think that evading a 5 star wanted level after a good old killing spree is the cream of the crop. But that's just me.
