A genuine way to address neglected car classes

I know its already been mentioned before but not really discussed properly. I idea of introducing older versions or even different models of modern and existing cars in GTA Online! Not only would it be unexpected but its the perfect opportunity to introduce new cars to the lowly pool of sports classics, sedans and make some decent 4 door cars that are not the sultan or tailgater. I for one miss the vice city 80's approach to the chettah and was utterly disappointed when the final product of one of my favourite cars reminded me of this:

Infernus = 2001(ish) Lamborghini Murcielago

... So I was thinking that we needed a Lamborghini Diablo (which means devil) and in GTA it will be called Hellfire.

I would drive this car all the time.

I like that idea, but the reason I bought fourth the idea was to address the neglected car classes. Would be a good idea if it was a sports classic!

It's not much good adding more classes when supercars are all that anyone ever selects anyway. Impromptu races for the win.

I like the idea of impromtu races, but no one ever accepts them :/

Adding more car classes isn't going to help encourage the usage of the "neglected" ones. Most people choose to drive by what vehicle they like, rather than the class it belongs in.

Adding more car classes isn't going to help encourage the usage of the "neglected" ones. Most people choose to drive by what vehicle they like, rather than the class it belongs in.

The subject of adding car classes was not the original subject of this thread. But since you said it, it would. I dont own a bullet because there is no reason for it. I already have my free roam vehicles that I drive because I like the look of hem (banshee, Mana, peyote, sultan ect). But I would drive one if it was competitive in super class races. People drive what ever they like in free roam, sure. But when it comes to racing people drive whatever they like.....thats competitive

People drive what vehicles they prefer over the board. It doesn't matter whether it's casual in free roam or competitive in an imp race. If I had to choose what to drive, I would not be saying "Well, I'm in free roam and I want to drive a motorcycle, let me see what bikes I have." I'm just going to grab the vehicle I want to drive, if it's a Bati, it's a bati.

 

In competitive, I'm going to pick the vehicle that I feel most comfortable driving in which I think I can win the race. If it's a race job, I'm just going to use my preferred vehicle in the class the host has chosen.

 

You see more supers around because people can afford them and that's what they want to drive, not because they're a super class car and #SupersMasterRace.

Would be really cool if they split up the bikes between Sport Bikes and Cruisers.

This, cruisers are useless in races due to being outclassed by almost any stock crotch rocket.

Yes, but you dont see bullets, vaccas or voltics. Is it because people dont like them? Of course not. Its because they are out classed in every aspect by the adders, entitys and cheese graters

We need another join race option,a join "non-super race"option should be available.They should also make a tuner class so the Futo,Penumbra,Sultan,Warrener and Saturn could race in peace.It should not be hard to do,see what they did to the Oracle and Sentinel XS a few patches ago?

Yea i would keep those as super and move the entity, zentorno, adder, & turismo to hyper. Penumbra, sultan, futo, and few other can move to tuners because they are way too slow for the sports class.

 

I love the sultan only race just because I get to use one and be competitive! If only we could use our modded ones.... PErhaps thats something I should create

I know this will never happen but I think it would be so cool for R* to add new street cars without announcing them.

 

So basically you turn GTA on for the first time after 1.16 and you start noticing the occasional vehicle that you've never seen before. They would be introduced as rare to uncommon vehicles so people would only notice them popping up over time. That would be so cool. And it would also make us appreciate the likes of the Radius and the FQ2 more because we wouldn't necessarily have to see them every day any more if things were mixed up a little.

To fix the underused cars they should bring up their stats to be competitive in their class. They have enough characteristics in cars available to make each one unique yet still competitive.

 

To fix the underused classes they should add modifiers to the payouts for each class. Make it small so not everyone starts running compacts all day long but just enough to incentivise using the other classes.

At the moment there are too many cars being left in the dust and people obsessing over stats. There's no variety. It all comes down to which car has the best stats... Cars should be chosen based on looks. Cosmetic. People should race with what they like Instead. Some feel as if they're being forced.


At the moment there is only about 30% of all vehicles being used in the game purely for having the best stats. Even those that come close to the high end performance cars, they're simply unacceptable to many because they lack that 5% extra speed.


There are many cars out there that look good but are neglected due to their lower stats. Some of them have a huge variety of customization options.


Examples:


Penumbra, a true tuner. A vast variety of customization options. Cannot keep up with other Sports cars. Most go for the Jester/Elegy/Massacro... While also wishing they could be driving something different.


Tornado, Peyote, Manana. Stylish looking Sports Classics yet they are too slow to compete. The Roosevelt which is the oldest of all sports classics and can go ridiculously fast for it's year. It's safe to say that comparing stats to the cars in the game and their real life counterparts, many are very different so there wouldn't be anything wrong by doing this. There should be no reason those 3 cars can't be made race-worthy. They have so many customizing options and potential. Racing them would be a thrill!


Vacca, Infernus, Bullet, Voltic. Stats are slightly lower than the Adder/Entity/Zentorno/Turismo which almost everyone goes for so if those shared the exact same stats we would see more variety and everyone would have an equal chance in long simple races such as Long Haul 2 which is completely performance relevant.


SOLUTION: Make every vehicle from the same class have the same stats.


So, basically:


A Duneloader performing the same as a Sandking.

A Bagger/Hexer performing the same as an Akuma.

A Manana performing the same as a Monroe.

A Ratloader/Picador performing the same as a Gauntlet.

A Voltic/Bullet performing the same as a Zentorno.



Etc. Simple solution. A large amount of people being satisfied since they could race with the car they like. Let's face it, realism and physics are already out of proportion so that takes out the only con and all that's left are a lot of pro's. It would have a very positive impact.


Consider this Rockstar. There's a lot of people out there who want this. I'm sure you've noticed how people judge cars purely on stats in this game and it's out of control. A lot of good would happen if this was implemented.

Zorvain I agree though I dont think they should all be exactly the same. I like the current set up where you have one that tops in speed, one in handling and one in a mix of both. I think it would be awesome if they brought the rest up to that par and a few speed cars, a few handling cars and a few mixers all at same levels in each group. Then have the mods do even more to equalize them have tires, suspension and body mods effect handling, engine and turbo do speed, tranny engine and tires do acceleration. Make it so you cant max all of them out...you have to choose which mods to increase so like adding speed to a handling car brings the ballance up but you cant add a lot of handling to that same car. Etc.

 

Generally make it so you can choose cars based on how you drive and what you like the looks of and still be able to spend money on it to be competitive with all the others in that class.

LuapYllier, I completely agree. Some competition should be added so combining my comment and yours here (minus all cars being exactly the same) , it would make the racing aspect of GTA completely enjoyable.

 

I would love this.

 

You could then have for example, 2 Phoenix's and tuning them differently would affect how they would perform. You'd tune one for highway speed races and the other one for drifting, races with lots of tight turns where you can't reach top speed.

Maybe Rockstar could introduce optional sub-classes into each class. So if the host wanted he could just select "Supers" and every Super is available, or he could select "Supers > Low End" and have only the Voltic / Vacca / Bullet available. Maybe introduce an incentive to do that; an extra $1000 to each race position, for example, if you select a sub-class.
