Have you ever noticed that GTA 3 is almost free from real shootouts?
The only missions where you have to fight on foot and actually need to use a machine gun are ,,grand theft aero'' , Liberator, Arms Shortage, triads and tribulations and the last mission.

All other missions are : drive to this place here, collect the items there, destroy the car during that time etc etc

Thats why grand theft aero is my favorite mission, finally i can use my mg16 and shoot those colombian bastards from a safe distance and i actually have some cover ( the van in the airport and the boxes in theconstruction site)

But thats it!

I'm not certain if you're critisizing the game, or just trying to state fact, but realistically, you can use any gun you want throughout the game.

Queen Elizabeth II

It's called Grand Theft Auto for a reason. At least was... Not anymore.

I've had my share of shootouts, but most of them have been prevented by me running over the target. Hence, GTA.

It's called Grand Theft Auto because you commit crimes and Grand Theft Auto is a name for a type of crime. It's not a straight up driving game. You want that then get Forza.

There are more shootouts than you can imagine. Just play it and you'll see what I'm talking about.

If we take every gang in LC (as 90% of them hate Claude) there are more shootouts than in any other GTA. The death trap in Saint Mark's, mackerel bash in Chinatown or Colombian espresso attack in Cedar Grove or near Newport.

There are more missions like that... Shima, for example, ends up with a shootout with the Diablos.

I suppose it's also very dependant on how you play. Sayonara Salvatore, for example, has several possible approaches: you can wait at Luigi's door and kill Salvatore as soon as he shows up, so that your face is the last thing he sees; you can get to a nearby roof and safely kill him from a distance...

Lethal Vaccine

Drive through Portland - Triads (Pistols), Diablos (Pistols), Leone Mafia (Pistols, Shotguns)

Drive through Staunton Island - Colombians (Pistols, AK-47s)

Drive through Shoreside Vale - Colombians (AK-47's)

No shootouts? These Gangs constantly shoot at you...

Try the 20 Rampages, some of them are pretty challenging, especially the headshot-only rampages...
