Anyone else manage to grab a iPhone 6 or iPhone 6+ Pre-Order?

It took twenty hours but I just managed to grab my 128GB Gold 6+ for delivery 9/19.

Thats correct, they managed to set a record for most phones pre-ordered in one night although no exact figures yet.

It gets crazier each time they release a new product, I love it.

Apple will also make a market for the watch accessory as apple will do it right and force the others to follow.

They were not the first to do touch screen or MP3 player eithe, they just did it right.

Please don't spout nonsense about doing the watch 'right'. If they break ground it will be purely down to their marketing ability and not the quality or usefulness of the product. Smartwatches in their current state just don't have enough functionality or battery life to have any chance of being done 'right' yet.

This is the topic for the iPhone 6, not the iWatch. There's a separate topic for that.

didn't pre order it.

i'm gonna wait until my local apple store gets them in then i'll go and try them out so how they are. also gonna wait until google announce their new phone/s. not interested in any other device. it's apple or google for me. none of this HTC, samsung, motorola sh*t.

the only problem with the iphone is the price. £620 for the 5.5" 16gb model. wouldn't mind so much if they made 32gb the minimum size. 16gb is a joke. i'll need to subscribe to itunes match/spotify cause no way i can store my music on a 16gb phone. itunes match is £21 a year and spotify is £120 a year. i suppose i could just take the hit and get the 64gb model.

really don't know what to do at the moment.

I still have a year with my 5 left, I believe.

Hopefully I can get an early upgrade, I'd love to get the 6 +.

Apple's Online Store sold over four million iPhone 6's during the first 24 hours that Pre-Orders went live, not even including pre-orders from other retailers and sites.

Apple's largest iPhone Pre-Order success all while Apple Shares are going way up and iPhone usage is also going up. Overall, things are going great for Apple. I'm excited to see the total sales on the 19th.

Geez man, how much music can you listen to ? Do you download like every album from 8 different artists? I've had a 16GB LG G2, and a 16GB Galaxy S5, and I also listen to a crap ton of music. 16GB is big enough.

Maybe if Apple were smart enough, they would include a microSD card slot expandable to 64-128GB, but no. That's one thing I definitely dislike about Apple. They make you purchase a low capacity model, and you can't expand the storage yourself, so you're basically screwed.. Can they not program iOS or something?

In all fairness Android my music collection is over 120GB. If I want to use it for music, 16GB will never be enough. It's only a few dozen albums at Apple Lossless or FLAC.

This.

I need at least 32GB's to load my music on there comfortably. My iPhone 5 is 32GB's and I believe my music collection, at the moment, that I actually sync is 16GB's.

I have a ton of music, all organized with album info and artwork. I get OCD like that and I do buy quite a lot of music off iTunes for that reason exactly...don't hate.

For me, I have a iTunes Match Subscription but I also like to have all of my music downloaded as iTunes Match is worthless when I don't have a cellular or Wi-Fi Connection. Normally, my music only takes up three to four GB's at most but I tend to download a lot of apps and take lots of pics and vids so I went for the 128GB.

I know I likely won't go above 40GB's but knowing I will never run out of space will be comforting.

As for iPhones not having a SD Card Slot, iPhones are all about sleekness and ease of use. A SD Card Slot would add a decent amount of thickness to it.

I have a 32 gb iphone 5. I got about 1 gb of music. I flick past most of it and only listen to the same say 80 songs. Most people I know do the same.

Think about it. You might have 128 gb of music at say a massive 10 mb per song is almost 13000 songs at say 4 min a song it would take 866 hours or 36 days of listening to every song one after each other.

Massive 10 mb per song? Hehe, if you think 10 mb is a lot for a song then don't look at the size of lossless audio files. :D

I'd probably go for the iPhone 6 instead of the iPhone 6 Plus because I don't really like big phones.

That "The biggest advance in the iPhone since we launched the original" malarkey is getting real old though. They took "The biggest thing to happen to iPhone since iPhone" and reworded it.

A song of about 5 minutes in wav format will eat up about 53MB of space. The same song in MP3 format at 128kbps uses up 5MB

How so? I don't think it would really make it thicker. There's a lot of phones out there with the card slot on the side, and they're still pretty thin

It's got nothing to do with sleekness (loads of thinner Android phones with them) and everything to do with Apple's obsession with controlling the user environment and forcing consumers to spend enormous additional sums of money to upgrade storage father than using readily available, often better stuff on the market. Case in point: recent desktops/laptops and soldered in RAM and hard drives.

IOS 8 is out today!

It is available for the iPhone 4S and up although I highly recommend you don't download it on a 4S as the software is a bit to high performance so it will make your outdated processor "tap out" and your iPhone will become very slow.

Don't put it on a 4S, don't put it on an iPad 2 is the advice I've seen.

I thought iOS 8 changed the icons...NOPE. It instead did this:

- Changed Control Panel thingy.

- Added 4 apps: "Health, Podcasts, Tips, and iBooks". Health looks neat, maybe it's like like S Health on Android (I never used S Health lol), I don't use Podcasts, I don't read books on my phone, and why do we need tips?...

- Made it so contacts appear in the multitask menu.

- Now Swipe Keyboard and Text Predicting are added, like Android.

- Family Sharing...I don't know.

- More video and photo editing.

That's it. I don't understand what all the hype was about. Just minor changes. 1.1 Gigabits and it tooks me about an hour or so for the whole update process. Why so much data for so little?...

It definitely has WAY more features than that. Just to name some of the major features you missed:

  • Messages has received a nice update. You can now leave group messages or just enable "Do Not Disturb" for a certain group chat, all new voice messages feature, slide to send a quick picture or video, send multiple pictures at once, quickly share your location on a live map.
  • Photos now has quick search so if you have lots of images, you can find one quickly. Additionally, their are several new editing options for your photos. You can adjust the lighting, coloring and several other edits. Photos now have Instagram like filters and lastly a new Time Laps feature has been added.
  • Continuity is something that pairs your IOS device amazingly well with your Mac. Open a page on your Mac and it's waiting for you on your IOS device or vise versa. This goes for books, documents and a whole lot more. If someone calls or texts your iPhone, even if they don't have iMessage, your phone calls and text will be directed to your Mac if your on it.
  • Spotlight has been vastly improved. On the home screen swipe down and you can search for anything on your phone or news, Wikipedia, the iTunes, iBooks and App Stores, suggested websites, and movie showtimes. A good example of this is opening spotlight and typing , "Chinese food". Now, without even leaving your home screen, you have a list of nearby Chinese Restaurants where you can see reviews and tap to call.
  • Notifications have been enhanced. You can now reply to a text right from the lock screen or if your using a app and receive a text, you can pull it down and reply right there in that app.
  • Customization has been nicely enhanced with IOS 8. Starting today, developers will be putting out Widgets that can be inserted into your Notification Center. Additionally, developers are currently putting out keyboards that you can download from the App Store.

I put all of that together based on what I know from my basic use with the Beta. IOS 8 is not a design overhaul and Apple never claimed it to be that. Instead, it adds a good amount of feature updates.

Rather than complaining and claiming that IOS 8 only has six new additions you could have headed to http://www.apple.com/ios or that Tips App you are complaining about also shows what's new.
