How about all the people that are in there for the whole childish iPhone/Android debate, kindly, get the f*ck out. So everyone else can discuss the actual iPhone instead of scrolling through "hurrrr my opinion is the best because I leik - insert brand here - the phone that you have chosen sucks and you are wrong, you made a bad choice and you should feel bad."

Someone should make a thread for that and dump all of it in there.

Not trying to be a dick here, despite sounding like one in the first few sentences. Some of the discussion is pretty good, sivispacem makes good points as always, but just really tired of this whole debate. People can use whatever damn phone they want they don't need other people telling them their choice is wrong/inferior.

Ended up dropping and cracking the display on my iPhone 6 Plus. Sapphire glass would have been pretty nice. :panic:

Okay, so I picked up an iPhone 6 today. Upgraded from my 5. Very pleased with it. Love it already. The 6 Plus felt weird in my hand so I didn't go for it. I think I could have gotten used to it but the regular 6 just seemed like a better fit.

Bought the leather case for it.

One thing was, I had to settle for 16GB's because 64GB's was all gone. But I figured it should do as most of my music is listened to on Spotify now, and I've still got my iPad Air and old iPhone 5.

You'll regret that soon enough.Yeah, I'll just have to adjust and I should manage. I don't have a ton of apps. Game apps and all that are on my iPad Air.

I mostly listen to music on Spotify now. Obviously 64 would have have been better and placed less restrictions but it is what it is. I had to upgrade now because my 5 was all but useless, my fault here, not Apple's.

Overall, very pleased with the upgrade.

Does it feel better to have the curviness of the 6 rather than the sharp edges of the 5? I've always admired and loved the sharp edges on the 5/5s model.

Actually yeah, I really love the curves of the 6. It fits much easier and better in my hand because of them.

My iPhone 5 looks so odd now and feels so much heavier. It's a really noticeable upgrade for me going from the 5 to the 6.

Really love fingerprint ID. Feels so good to just use that to access my phone and verify purchases I make on iTunes/App Store instead of entering my password.

Waiting for my leather case to come in, in brown, and I picked up this screen cleaner: http://store.apple.com/ca/product/HFN22VC/A/whoosh-screen-shine-duo-screen-and-device-cleaner?fnode=8a229990ba64a36ea90669b209b4348a8ddabbf9dc7171d404cc6573632b9746500a244b19987f83ec2a679b1419ac1ebf2cbbee13139dbbf7a2d1d4572cca4a84fb1e5912aa261f80290739ea0bc552397a0e47b3b4b84e6eb2e81a92eb8973a1b85e91c542a6877607f15e04eaf105

It's pretty well rated and has an anti-fingerprint coating. Of course, it probably doesn't last very long but better than nothing at all.

My brother upgraded from an HTC One to a Nexus 6 and it looks HUGE in his hands. That thing is nearly a tablet. I don't know how he'll carry it around, especially as he is prone to dropping his phones and cracking their screens. He cracked his HTC One screen within weeks of getting it.

You could always just pop a sim card in when you run out of space.

Oh wait

...well at least you got that new quad-core processor

Oh wait

...but on the bright side, you've got that great quad HD screen, right?

Oh wait

...Well, at least it's still 1080p.

Oh wait

...There must be a saving grace. Oh yeah, it's that open source operating system!

That's cool. Did you not realize that this wasn't the Android/Android dick riding topic when you clicked into it? Or do you just not know how to read/came in here to start a flame war like a 12 year old over which phone(s) are better?

Don't need an Android phone. If I needed one, I'd get one. Who gives a sh*t which phone people have and what OS it runs? My phone does what I need it to and I am happy with it. Your phone does what you need it to and I am sure you are happy with it. That's it. I really do not understand why people try to start flame wars because someone happens to have a different phone from them. Grow up.

I don't think 16GB will be a problem for me, now that I've set my phone up. After all the apps I use on a daily basis are loaded up, I've still got about 9GB's.

I can easily stream all my music off Spotify (have premium) and my entire purchased iTunes library of music, movies, shows.

I don't take many pictures or videos. When I do, I've got Dropbox and Drive to store them.

For bigger apps like games, as I previously wrote, I use those exclusively on my 32GB Air. If I need to download music or movies instead of streaming, I'll do that on my Air. Though I do have space on the 6, right now.

Obviously would have been ideal to have a 64GB 6 but I needed to upgrade at that moment and its what was there at the time.

Ok without the Apple hating, you should be fine with 16GB. I've been going off that for 2 years with no problem at all

Yeah, with being able to stream all my iTunes purchases, Spotify, Netflix, Youtube, etc and 10GB's of data a month, I should be fine.

Initially, I was a little concerned and regretted it because my purchased library of music is 15.9GB's - alone. If I add music I have on my HDD, it goes up to 29.8GB's. That's not counting shows and movies. So, I will just have to get used to streaming. I don't think I'll have a problem due to my data plan and generally being in places I have WiFi.

The music on my HDD will be a problem but I suppose I can put it on my iPad or just slowly add all of it to a Spotify playlist.

One of your biggest issues with having 16GB will probably be software updates. It seams like with each update, the size goes up and updates are normally something pretty crucial to get.

I think Apple should have discontinued the 16GB model as it seams too impractical for most who want make general use of their iPhone.

_______________

Apple Pay has turned out to be a pretty big success. It is being frequently used across the United States and it has even made up 1% of all digital purchases. 1% may seam like a very small number but it's actually REALLY good considering how many digital purchases are made and for Apple to have a whole percentage impact on that is pretty damn impressive especially when it was done in only a few months. Thanks to the spread of Apple Pay, I am also seeing NFC payment machines in lots of retail stores. Before Apple Pay, seeing an NFC terminal was a surprise and something I would like to point out but now, I very rarely go through a day without seeing one. I even used my iPhone to pay for a water from a vending machine yesterday all in about twenty seconds without having to pull out my wallet and credit card.

Yeah, that is my worry. But I generally upgrade once a major update happens to the iPhone; every two years. Should still be fine for the updates to iOS and next time I'll hold out for more memory.

I agree. They really should make 32GB's the starting point. I was really perplexed that they got rid of 32 and went with 16 as the starting point. I didn't think about it much as my iPhone's have always been at least 32GB's. But I had to upgrade at that moment in time and, well, 16GB's it was.

I am pleased with the phone and the performance. A big difference for me coming from the iPhone 5.

As for Apple Pay, I really hope it is supported by Canadian Banks soon and rolled out in Canada by Apple. But I don't have high hopes. We are STILL waiting for iTunes Radio. We have been chip and pin ready in Canada for years. I can't even remember the last time I saw anyone with a card that did not have chip and pin. NFC is predominately used in Canada. It would be easy to roll it out, once/if it does happen. I bank with TD and TD's U.S. branch (Canadian Bank, expanded into the U.S.) has already rolled out Apple Pay support.

I got an iPhone 6 a few months back. That still feels a little tall compared to the 5. The 6 plus would have been way too big for me.

I agree. I have friends who chose to pay the extra $200 for the plus and the six is big enough. They can hardly fit the phone in their pockets. It looks ridiculous in their hands lol. The only positive is my grandfathers friend has trouble seeing and said tge phone is very good for people who have poor eyesight. But i think ill stick with my 6

So, a few days now with the 6 and I am settled in with it.

16GB's is enough for me, just had to change how I used my phone. I don't keep any music on the phone itself now aside from a couple of my favourite albums that I downloaded off iTunes to storage. The rest of my almost 2,000 purchased songs I just listen to via WiFi or data when I am not around WiFi. Same goes for my shows and movies, but those I only watch over WiFi. The majority of my listening is now done on Spotify, so really, it's eliminated the need to store music on my phone for me and even purchase music. I am slowly adding all the GB's of music I have on my HDD to Spotify. Those I obviously cannot stream off iTunes, unless I purchase them.

Photos and videos I store externally on Drive and Dropbox.

All the major apps I use, I already have on my phone and still have 8-9GB's of storage. Spotify caches music so it tends to go from 60MB's in size to -- whatever amount of MB's or GB's. There is no clear cache option like the Android version of the app. The solution is to delete the app and install it again to clear the cache. Although, let's say you do run out of space because Spotify takes up so much...I believe that once you actually try to put something on your phone, it frees up the space Spotify is using to cache the content.

I tried to play the few games that I do enjoy on my 6, however, I just don't prefer it when I have my Air's bigger display for gaming. So, that is also freeing up space on my 6. I don't see myself having a ton of games, if at all, on it. It is definitely manageable to have 16GB's, though not ideal. It is always better to have too much than too little.

EDIT: In terms of the 6 or 6 Plus, I definitely see the appeal of the Plus. Especially when it comes to the battery life. Thing is, I don't like to walk around with something that huge in public. My brother walks around with his Nexus 6 and it looks ridiculous - even when he's 6'1. Reachability is definitely a great feature to help with single-handed use on a bigger display but the Plus still seems too big while the 6 is perfect. But like all things, I imagine someone would get used to it. It took me a day or so to get used to my 6, coming from the 5.

Waiting for UPS to deliver my iPhone 6 leather case in brown and Whoosh! Screen Cleaner. Man, I wish Apple didn't ship with UPS in Canada. They only use FedEx with the express shipping options. But I couldn't select that upon checkout. I'd pay more just to avoid UPS.

EDIT 2: What kind of case do you guys have for your 6 or Plus, if at all?

I know it's completely unreleated to the iPhone 6, but I just got a 5th generation iPod Touch as a gift from my girlfriend and I'm loving it so far. It makes me want to have an iPhone so badly. I was pretty much on my iPod the whole day, and going back to my Galaxy S5 was very weird. It just felt weird in the hand and it just makes me think of how the iPhone is pretty much those two things combined.

Yeah, a relative has a Galaxy S5 and it just feels odd in my hand. But of course if that phone was my daily driver, I'd get used to it. I think that iPhone/iWhatever are easy to make fun of but they are great devices. It all just comes down to preference. My brother has always been an Android fanatic and I've always been with Apple. He was looking to upgrade from his HTC One; either an iPhone 6, like me, or the Nexus 6. The more he researched the iPhone 6, the more he wanted one. But in the end he decided on the Nexus 6 simply because that is the OS he is familiar with. And the bigger screen size, of course. He wouldn't have been able to get the 6 Plus.

I actually wouldn't mind switching to Android myself, if I had no other choice, but I've had generations of iPhone's and a huge chunk of my time and money has been invested into the Apple ecosystem. It all works for me and I am quite pleased with it, which is why I stay. I enjoy how easy it is to do something on my iPhone, carry it over to my iPad and then have it on my MacBook. There are things to dislike about both.

How do you like the S5? I know that most Android users shy away from them, since the S3, I believe. As it's very bloated and overall not the typical Android experience. You ever considered getting an iPhone? A lot of Android users I know don't like to admit that they have. Likewise the same for some Apple users.

EDIT: http://9to5mac.com/2015/01/09/apple-planning-apple-pay-expansion-into-canada-as-soon-as-march/

Pls let this be true. Pls, Apple, pls. We're still waiting for iTunes Radio here so I surely thought we'd be left behind for Apple Pay, too. If it really is coming in March, I am ecstatic. Hoping my bank is on board from launch (TD). They said they are developing their own payment system but considering their banking app is utter sh*t, I've no hope and won't use it. They just signed on to Apple Pay in the U.S. back in December. Hopefully they're on board here, too.

I love my S5, it's really easy to use. I actually rooted mine over my Christmas vacation and now I love it even more. I probably wouldn't have had to do that with an iPhone or anything. After I broke my LG G2, I considered the iPhone 5s because of it's absolutely amazing design. I honestly think it's one of the most beautiful products Apple has ever designed. I decided not to go with it because I knew it would take a while to get used to the drastically different UI, features, etc.. I kind of regret it now. I don't think I would've went for the 6/6+ due to the fact that it was newer and more expensive. I think my next smart phone will be an Apple device.

Android isn't that different, I don't think. Sure, it has a lot more customization but that doesn't always help with system performance. I assume Apple is going to implement widgets and what not into iOS soon, yes? I think their take on widgets/customization will be loads better. I am surprised to see that an iPod Touch, with only 512 MB of RAM, is just as good as my GS5 with 2GB of RAM. It's something to really think about.

iOS 8 added widgets into notification centre. However, I won't compare/contrast it to widgets on Android because I've never used them so it would not be fair.

I've got a ton in notification centre. Weather Live for weather, Deliveries, Google News, nearby stops for Rocket Man, Dropbox, Buzzfeed. I am sure as time passes more and more apps will provide widgets.

The iPhone 6 has 1GB of RAM but you wouldn't even notice it and it performs great. Even my iPhone 5 held up pretty well. However, I had a defective battery so I decided to upgrade. The specs on the iPhone at face value look underwhelming but the phone performs so well that you do not even notice it.

Intel i5-4590 3.3GHz | EVGA GTX 1080 SC 8GB | 16GB Corsair Vengeance RAM | MSI Z97 G-45
Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD and Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD | Audioengine A2 Speakers
Corsair K70 RGB Rapidfire | Corsair M65 Mouse | Fractal Design R5 Case | EVGA G2 850W
Audio-Technica M50x Headphones and Sennheiser HD 558 | LG 34UC88 1440p Ultrawide Curved Monitor

I thought about getting my wife an android phone only because she likes to listen to music and iTunes is not the easiest for loading music. All she does is music, net and calls and text.

I'm not going to lie: I hate how widgets are in the notification thing. It'd be better if they were where apps are.
