i hear 6 pluses bend inside peoples pockets. is it true?

Yes, there's a structural weakness near enough where the buttons are. I wouldn't be surprised to see a mass recall when they actually sort it out.

Wow, Apple is truly showing their superior build quality here. Shame on me for ever doubting them!

Ya'll need to get less heavy asses.

jk.

I lol'd though. Still want an iPhone 6, don't hate, I just have everything on there and I prefer it. Have since the original iPhone. I just don't upgrade every year like some people, that's a little ridiculous. Went from the original iPhone to the iPhone 4, then to the iPhone 5 and I am planning to at some point get a 6.

I am sure by the time I do this will be fixed. If not? I don't carry my phone in my pant pocket anyway. Never have. A case (depends on the case, I guess) would likely prevent this issue, too, until they can rectify it. I imagine they will have to do some trade-in or recall.

"Bending iPhone's" have been a [extremely rare] issue since the iPhone 5 as the material used, aluminum bends easily.

As aluminum bends easily, this isn't a problem exclusive to the iPhone 5-6 as the Sony Experia has had a few reports of this but as they are not apple, this issue wasn't on the front page of multiple sites.

This is just a fine example of the media deciding to overkill a story that has been going on for years. I'd be willing to bet quite a lot that these so called "journalists" bent iPhones themselves to post it on a site and write a story about how their phone bent in their pocket.

For example, if you actually believe that this is due to being in someones pocket, you're foolish.

From being inside people's pockets? No.

From people intentionally bending it with their hands? Yes.

I would say that the iPhone 6 shouldn't be able to bend by using extreme force with your hands but thats how aluminum is. As for the "iPhones are bending in peoples pockets!!" story, it's bullsh*t.

Additionally, I speak from experience. I have had my iPhone 6 Plus since the hour it came out and I of course don't have a bent iPhone.

so this is a collective movement by people who want to damage apple? they are bending their phones and uploading pictures to the internet huh... that's some conspiracy theory right there.

That's not experience, that's an anecdote. Just because something hasn't happened to you doesn't mean it hasn't happened to other people. I've never been mugged, but that doesn't mean mugging doesn't exist. I mean, it's not as if issues with iPhone 6 Plusses bending aren't all over the various IT and technology vendors is it? Oh, wait...

Gnocchi Flip Flops

Apple and their weak ass phones. :D My parents have Notes, bigger than the 6 Plus, and they've never been bended in any way. And my phone is always in my front pocket, sometimes even when I lean over and put pressure over that area. No bends, no cracks, no nothing. It works fine. What in the world? Should a case be able to fix this problem? I mean you'd be stupid not to have a case on your iPhone in the first place.

This is as if someone where to kick their new Bentley and go, "Holy crap, it put a dent in it!".

This entire thing is clearly just people wanting to take hits at Apple. The only people making a fuss over this are people who don't like Apple and/or the media. I haven't heard an ounce of worry from AN ACTUAL IPHONE 6 OWNER. Even if an iPhone 6 owner were stupid enough to worry about this garbage, a $20 case would put their pointless worries to rest.

Lastly, not as if this garbage would actually happen to even 1% of iPhone 6 buyers but if it did, a quick trip to the Apple Store would result in a brand new phone. Apple is known for being extremely helpful with exchanges. Phones have problems and I never worry about those problems as I know I can get a brand new phone within ten minutes of entering the Apple Store.

Of course, because it's not like Apple have a history of blaming users and their clumsy hands for what are quite obvious design flaws...

Lol SimsDaniel you can't possibly defend Apple for how weak the construction is but you try anyway. It doesn't matter if people who are complaining are Apple haters or not, the phone construction is weak and Apple need to fix that.

It's quite telling when people need to dismiss legitimate criticism by making up conspiracy theories blaming the owners for trying to tarnish Apple's reputation.

The HTC One, which is also made of metal, doesn't bend because of the way the back is curved.

Face it, Apple made a design flaw.

i'm making a fuss over this and i'm not a hater at all. my current phone is an iphone which i love (my trusty 3GS best phone ever) and i'm going to upgrade soon (but seems like to 5S now not 6). you just gotta learn to criticize your favorite brand too sometimes (i'm not talking about myself apple is not my favorite brand). i mean this is a f*ck up. you make a really thin phone, out of aluminum, and you forget to bend test it... *facepalm*

@SimsDaniel you really shouldn't try to defend Apple with this issue. I like both Samsung and Apple and even wanted a 5s or 6 Plus. But after seeing that bend, I'll just get the Note 4.

Yes, instead the HTC One just cracks in the screen at the smallest amount of pressure. Brother had one for a year now. The first week, he dropped it accidentitly on a carpeted floor, huge crack at the top of the screen. His friend also has an HTC One and has a cracked screen.

You just need to know the weaknesses of your phone and avoid them. I don't put my phones in my ass or in any pockets, so I don't care about this. I always have them in a phone slot in my messenger bag, usually in a case on top of that. Or I have it in my hand. Why would anyone put their phone in their back pocket, if they are going to be sitting for prolonged periods? I wouldn't do that even if it didn't bend.

I still plan to get the 6, at some point. Hopefully by then this design flaw is fixed.

Firstly, it's alluminum that bends easily. Science class in school should have taught you that.

Additionally, I never said this wasn't an issue, it's just nowhere near as big of an issue as many are making it sound.

For example, IOS 8.0.1 released today and it has a bug that has disabled everyone's Cellular and Touch ID. THAT is a huge problem that Apple needs to fix immediately.

I was about to update to it and then saw on Mac Rumours that it caused that. Thankfully, cancelled the update as it was downloading. Apple....why, Apple....why...

Also lol'd at this:

From what I read it had to do with the plus models bending, but I could be wrong on that. Just don't sit on your phone is my takeaway.

Anyhoo looking to upgrade. I've got the 4, which looks to be out of date with the new OS. So to those who have a 6, upgrade yay or nay?

EDIT: might wait a bit till they get this OS bug worked out tho.

The update has already been pulled and a fix should be out any hour. Apple protocols would require all hands for a emergency update when it's a bug so major.

I have a ideal name for a protective case for the iPhone 6, call it "the spine" and make the back side look like it has boney spine bones in the meddle back end.

I hate Apple, I'm gonna go buy a $600+ phone and bend it in half and the very understanding and charitable people at Apple will just hand me a new phone.
