It's not useless, it's just a matter of weighing the pros and cons.

 

Pros of a lift - Quick, and easy. Simple to do.

 

Pros of this thing - Saves space, less expensive.

 

Cons of a lift - Takes lots of vertical space, more expensive.

 

Cons of this thing - Having to drain your fluids. And the worry that the car tips over may be there too.

 

Now if you have NO room at all for your car or a lift either, and you're just storing your car for a long time, this thing would be useful.

If you do have the room and the extra cash, the lift is obviously a better choice.

I just found out I may be able to get my hands on a Honda Prelude (its a 97 or 98 model). It is down at the autobody shop, probably a total. See if I can't get a good deal on it and fix it up. It got hit right in the front bumper and fender. Its black with black w/ chrome lip 18"s. I wasn't able to check the tranny yet, hopefully a manual.

 

I might have pics later.

Okay, just how many cars have you told us about that you've "almost gotten your hands on"? I can remember the Skyline, EVO VIII, and Viper. I realize that you're planning on fixing this one up like the "the others", and this one probably isn't a scam, but come on. How about you actually get a project car and show us some work you've done instead of telling us about all these 'Maybes'.

Ha, those all were out of my league, and all were total let-downs. The Skyline and the EVO were fake, to my knowledge. The Skyline, well, the guy didn't respond back whatsoever to any email I sent to him. The EVO was just a bank scam email that was very well done, even had a partially-legit VIN. The Viper, well, funds were the first to shut it down, but what really killed it was when we had the VIN report for it. It had been stolen, totaled, and was pretty much a Frankenstein Viper. It had a yellow hood, red door, black body. Even those parts were trashed somehow, and etc.

 

-The 64' Mustang is a project that is moving nowhere. It is not a high priority at the moment. I need a lot of free time to start.

 

-The Volvo 850 is pretty much done. It was a total at the same shop I mentioned and needed a front bumper, rear bumper, and a rear gate. I didn't take any pictures before or during (longest part was just the shipping time), but it still needs a new windshield and tinting. It is all screwed up in the rear gate as it was from another car and just repainted.

 

-The Prelude I am mentioning will probably be a daily driver for me if I can get it cheap. The parts will be cheap as I get them from the junkyards. If I get this one I might just take some pictures during the process.

 

EDIT: guy decided this morning he wants to keep it.

plastic bag and ducktape.

 

More serioulsy you could sew a transparent flexible plastic to it and tape the inline to avoid water comes in. still it'ssomething really temporary.

My father came home today and said he was checking out a possible purchase since he is sick of the gas money he needs for his F-350. It's a 1973 Volvo 164. He said it is white with only about 60k miles on it. He said he is going to take a test drive tomorrow. Oh yeah, the guy is asking $1000 for it.

 

Now I spent some time today seacrhing up craigslist for a good RWD and found a slightly promising 1992 240sx. No statement about the mileage. All I know is that it needs a new tranny, it was an automatic anyhow. Manual transmission conversion, now there's a nice project. He is sending me pictures tomorrow. He is asking $650 OBO.

Well everyone to their own taste I suppose. That black BMW (not to be offensive) has no character, just doesn't stand out as much as the new one, with the nice grills and lights etc.

 

Also, the black BMW is very 'boxy', as in no shape to it, where as the new BMW has more shape.

I agree everyone has their own tastes but in my opinion the new(er?) BMW has less soul than the first on really. The newer one strikes me as just a money maker for BMW. But nevertheless people have their preferences.

That's practically the same for all car manufacturer's though, as technology moves on, prices go higher ! Obiviously the newer BMW will be a money maker, it's got a more powerful engine, better looks, possibly better specifications inside (Sat Nav etc), you don't get things like this for free, they make profit on all these cars.

That gives me an idea. Sports minivan. Kind of like the convertible people carrier, or people carrier racing but less cool.
