I think the Impreza face is not all that bad nowadays. What they need to do is get that damn four-door back on the market, yesterday. The hatchback is disgusting.

Pavlov, aren't you in Europe somewhere? The sedan is out already?

Leave it to Porsche to make hybrids cool..

The flywheel and control panel makes it look like some kind of futuristic bomber, or a.. uh.. DeLorean time machine.

Nice render. Shame how they've neglected to show the FIA-required rollcage in it though.

FWIW, I like the Impreza hatch.

Wow. The image makes it look like a render and most of the other ones on that web page are.

I can't see many GT2 teams speccing it with a leather interior and TV-Sat-Nav personally wink.gif

I doubt it's a Sat Nav, a lot more likely to be a rear view camera, like on the Ferrari FXX

Well, you know how easy it is to get lost on those closed courses.

On that first photo posted there are certain parts of the image that look rendered, the image of the track map isn't aligned totally right. In the recent photo you can see the picture from the rear facing cameras on either side

There was a slight miss-understanding. That's not the car. The car he wants to trade is a 1974 Monaco, which never shipped with a V6, that means V8 only! Rust on a rear door and some in the trunk, which is not that bad. Four owner car, low milage. No pictures of it, will get tomorrow. If it looks as good as it sounds, I'll trade!

So Lurch, a '74 with a leaking rear axle where the driveshaft meets the rear axle, yay/nay?

Buy it regardless as it's my favorite movie car of all time, just be sure to fix the cigarette lighter.

All I know at this time is that it's a 1974 Dodge Monaco. So yeah bluesmobile. tounge.gif

Apparantly has straight pipes, but I'll put on stock ones because a Monaco is more of a cruiser, not a strip-car. Tranny shifts good, engine runs fine, passed vehicle inspection with flying colors in 2010. I think he said that the car was sold new in Sweden, so it probably has a 360. Do they have a 8 3/4 rear end? If so, then changing the pinion is pretty easy I guess? Because that's apparantly where it leaks. Four owner, low miles. Generally, anything I should look out for?

I don't thing it has cop tyres, cop suspension and cop shocks chris. sad.gif

Yes Pat, I'll be trading the Volvo.

360 or 440? I think it does have an 8 3/4 (big block cars could have some type of dana 60). The pinion itself probably won't need changing (unless it's chewed up), but just the seal at the end of the pinion.

Explain to me what you mean by driveshaft meets the rear axle.

I'd leave it straight piped. Perhaps 3" pipes down the sides. Always thought a good running, carbed dodge sounded good.

Which cars would be better as cars, you know, mechanically: 2010 Volkswagen Polo 1.4 TSI or 2010 Peugeot 308? Both cars are my dad's, and I basically have a year to decide which one I'll be driving once I get my provisional licence. I'm not gonna be stuck with one, since I'm not gonna move out and I'll be able to drive whatever my parents have, but since my dad wants his own small grocery-shopping car himself, we've basically decided that we take one each. Admittedly, I know sh*t all about cars and how they perform, but he prefers to have the Peugeot, whereas I prefer the Volkswagen. But regardless, just so I have a better idea, what do you guys suggest?

I've heard a lot of stories about Peugeots having sh*tty life-spans, but whenever I went back to Europe there were always dozens of them which were at least 15-20 years old, though. Besides, the most I'd have it for would be until the end of uni, which is 5 years, and the longest my dad's had a car for is 8 years, and in that time he drove five different cars... he's the type of person who buys a different car every three years. The 308 is quite roomy for something which is considered to be a small car and its got a nice interior, but the Polo's German, which trumps everything else. But apparently, the Polo's got this sports suspension which doesn't make the ride all that smoothe, whereas with the Peugeot it's reasonably calm.

I love the Polo, but I still wanna give the Peugeot a chance, and I want to get some more opinions besides that of my dad (who told me that the Polo is a better car technologically, but that it doesn't quite leave the Peugeot for dead) so I'm well-informed when I decide.

I'm pretty sure it has a 360, cars sold new in Sweden rarely had the larger engines. That seal isnt that hard to change is it?

What I mean is where the driveshaft enters the front of the rear axle. I don't know if there's an expression for it in english. I'll put on a stock exhaust system for sure, gotta be able to drive the car without my ears hurting.

It apparantly has a chain steering wheel, but the stock one, stock shifter and stock hubcaps will be included. God I love the "senior-citizen stock" look. biggrin.gif

And hey, sorry Batman, but this is something I really want. tounge.gif

I agree with Lurch, whats the point of having a beautiful engine like a V8 when you can't hear it? wink.gif

So I'm still on the hunt for a used car, but damn why are 2003-04 honda accords so expensive still? More than 8,000$ on them.. for 7-8 yr old cars? Are they that reliable?

Because I see toyota corollas/nissan altimas (not interested btw) that are 03-06 and much cheaper...

French cars are f*cking sh*t. This is as true in 2011 as it was in the 70s.

The Volkswagen TSI is an engineering marvel. I don't actually know much about the reliability, though, but the engine is truly something you can appreciate. Turbo- *and* supercharged, direct petrol injection. Did you know the supercharger automatically clutches out and a three-way valve redirects the air flow to the turbo once it detects the engine is capable of spooling it up without lag? I bet it's done so well you don't even notice. orly.gif

If it was a 3 litre straight six it'd be every car enthusiast's wet dream. tounge.gif As it stands, it's just a very nice, very quick, very economic little car. I'd take it over a nasty French one any day of the week.

The Polo TSI engine is a 1.4 turbo. Only the Polo GTi comes with the twincharger setup.

Both are fantastic engines- I drove a twincharge type TSI powered Golf and loved it.

TwinCharger is cool and all but I still think that Porsche's Variable Turbine Geometry turbochargers are cooler.

They've been run on diesels for about 2 decades or something now. Great tech, though not quite as versatile on petrol engines as the higher exhaust temps meaning they need to be much more heavily engineered and can't push as much boost.

Personally, I'm a fan of twinscroll systems and anti-lag wink.gif

Oh right, I guess the Golf TSI is the twincharger TSI. Oh well.

I don't think they sell them here anyway, too much performance, the taxes would kill the car.

I don't care much for spark ignition engines anyway, I just found it fascinating that they'd produced some kind of bizarre Mad Max Pursuit Special/Lancia Delta S4 love child engine. orly.gif
