Don't think this needs a topic, so I'll just post it here.

This guy that goes by "Kamin" over at Nicoclub.com has an all race S14 240sx and he swapped in an LS1 with a custom cam, and of course to get it in there, tons of other stuff.

Before anyone assumes things, an LS1 is lighter than the original KA24, RB, and as light if not lighter than an SR20 (especially lighter than a turbo set up) but a good 60 pounds or so. Take to that, add an extra 120hp, easy, stock and you've got a beast right off the bat... add in a custom cam, better intake, maybe upgrade to ls6 headers, and hell even throw a supercharger... so much aftermarket for the LS series engines it's no problem to get a very reliable 600whp.

With a conservative 450hp, this car would have a 6 lb per hp ratio, better than a Z06 vette's! Oh man... makes me want to cry tounge2.gif

Anyways, the point of this post is to show the video clip of his start up (not the first, but soon after). Man does it sound sexy or what?!?

topic: http://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread/250906

As you can see, it's taken him about 3 months and it looks like he's pretty much done it all by himself. Remember, his is purely race track only.

Man, that G Wagon look ridiculous, I think it's fair to say that the Veyron can get away with some pretty odd colour schemes!

@Cran - What car did he have that depreciated by that much ?

'94 Jaguar XJ6 S 3.2. Mind you, he bought it in 2001 for AU$32,000.

Recieved my sidepipe exhaust system.

Will be frikin' tedious driving the car with that thing sticking out the side - have to get used to having about 6-7 cm less clearance in the mid-rear section.

Decided that the sidepipe exhaust was a no-go. In the meantime my current exhaust fell apart, so I'm now ordering a new stainless 2.5" cat-back system from Germany.

Logistical problems I guess? Would you have run it out in front of behind the doors? Or even out behind the rear wheels?

Caught my intrigue now tounge.gif

I'd have like 2-3 cm of ground clearance under the pipe. Would rip that thing off in a second, especially with all the speed bumps around here. Then there's the whole issue of having to wear ear plugs when driving with the window down. tounge.gif

Do like the chavs do, drill a hole in one of the body panels!

I was stuck behind a polo with dub wheels and aweful bass on my way to skipton yesterday, the arsewipe straddled both lanes of the dual carriageway and was going 50, goddamn c*nts, blasted by him in our 1.6 focus like he wasn't there.

Mucky lucks and t'lot!

Aannnyways, what do people think of the Dodge Demon,

I think they should have dropped the Avenger to make it! Their main excuse for not doing it was lack of resources or something like that, I'm sure dropping the Avenger (mini Charger) would have opened up enough. And this car, imo, would do excellent if it's given specs were met.

Dodge is going down the drain... too bad, I like the Charger, and the new Challenger is damn nice aswell.

The back looks like it wanted to be an Audi TT and the front looked like it wanted to be a Viper.

It's an identity crisis in the happening. There will be scores and scores of bald-headed men in their late forties driving those and telling chicks while they're waiting at the light 'oh yeah baby, it's a V8'.

It's just sad, get a toupet instead. Cheaper and probably looks nicer too.

Chrysler is a mess of a company. All their designs are either a) plain ugly, b) dull as hell, c) way to ostentatious or a d) a complete messy hybrid of a, b and c. The Sebring is plain awkward and dull, the Avenger is trying way to hard and the Nitro is too blingy (I'm all for aggressive or ostentatious cars, but shoving chrome on edges.. it doesn't work). The only designs I like are some of the Jeeps and the 300C.

I sat in a 300C a couple of years ago.. and oh my. For some reason, every colour in the interior was a disgusting beige colour. Why? Does it look good? No. Was it styled by Ray Charles? No. It looks like they just grabbed the dullest beige colours they could find and called it a day. There is no conceivable reason why that should have interior looked like that. Also, what is Chrysler's obsession with having giant ugly bricks for center consoles? I really don't get it.

I can't comment on much else, such as drivetrain and such, but they're certainly not even close to setting benchmarks with their engines, according to the reviews i've seen.

I almost fell of my chair laughing when I saw Chrysler's new slogan "Engineered beautifully". What? Were all their cars engineered by supermodels? Because the certainly don't have any special engineering qualities to them, that's for sure. Next they're going to start boasting about their excellent build quality.. sigh.gif

At least Chrysler doesn't have hundreds of brands who are competing against each other. GM fails miserably in that respect. Chrysler can be saved, but there is work to be done..

In about a year from now, I'll probably be able to buy a new car. I should be getting a new job at the end of this year/early next year, and I'm hoping to be making at least $20K a year.

With that I feel I should be able to afford something in the low $30K's or mid $20K's. (USD of course)

What caught my attention was a new Mazda MX-5.

I'm in Illinois and we have some cold snowy winters, so the hard top is basically a must. It'll be used as a daily driver so the 6 speed Auto/manu-matic is sounding good as well.

A pretty much fully loaded one comes out to around $32K, while if I got a used one with similar options, and about 10-15K miles I could probably find that for around $25K, no problem.

What I want is your thoughts on the car. Any one driven one? Sat in one while some one else was driving? Or just thoughts about the car in general.

Oh, and I am of some what generous proportions, think I should be able to fit? (5 foot, 9 inches tall though. But I wear about size 44 pants, if that helps). The Honda S200 was a complete NO-GO at the autoshow, the steering wheel was in my gut. But the Saturn Sky was perfect. Sadly, didn't see a Miata...

Hope I'm not too late on the 300C discussion, but IMO they're f*cking ugly. That terrible grill, the overall look, ugh. What is it? It certainly isn't a luxury car.

It's just the latest and greatest in an attempt of carmakers to try and appeal to 'rappaz/gangstaz' who do drive-by's on a regular basis and need the trunk space for their 'AAAHH KAAAY NIGGAAAAAA!'.

Surely if two black men buy it and put the single biggest and ugliest rim they can find on it, white boys will follow suit.

Stereotype much? Nah.

you know, if you listened to my suggestion of the pipes goin "strait out the hood", you would have the exhaust system in by now, and would have trouble keeping the ladies off you, but nooooo, nobody ever listens to sip dozingoff.gif

@cran: do we have to go through this regional design preference thing again? as much as a agree with you about the smaller Chryslers , until you have seen the vehicles, until you have driven the vehicles, you aren't really in a position to comment. there is a reason the charger sells well, and there is a reason the 300c sells well, and its definitely not down to Chryslers rep. they must be doing something right.

@ Pic, My uncle owns one, it's a nippy little sh*t I'll tell you that! But his is the ragtop version.

If you can, go for a manual, my uncle test drove the auto and said that it wasn't quite as "feeling" so interpret that as you will, but bear in mind I'm British, the majority of cars here are manual. See if you can test drive both.

Also, ask to look at pre reg stock, it'll still be brand new, just the first owner will be listed as the dealer, instead of you. And they're generally a few grand cheaper.

Failing that, look at a 6 month old one. Because depreciation can kick you swiftly in the nuts.

Thanks for some feed back stretch wink.gif

I'll keep all that in mind biggrin.gif

@The whole 300c thing... I for one like the styling, and think it's quite a good car from what I've heard. It's got lots of options (several engines, RWD or AWD, plenty of appearance and interior options as well) and from what I heard that handle quite well and have a very smooth ride.

However, I do hate the whole "22 inch or bigger" rims thing that goes along with the car. The worst thing about it is that most of those rims are just f*cking butt ugly.

Go for it, Piccolini. And, as stretch said, buy the manual! There's only one reason any person should buy a Miata, and it's to enjoy it. And there's no way you can enjoy a car with an automatic. Beautiful cars and there's not one like it anymore.
