[Gnocchi Flip Flops]

Get a load of this sh*t. What is this? The "new" GTC4 Lusso. Silly name, and Lusso? You're gonna use Lusso - one of the prettiest classic Ferraris - on a car like this. The FF was originally a concept that I didn't understand but aesthetically it worked. Well it's back to being a stupid concept because it just looks bad! Like those quad taillights. The lower rear window. Why? Ew.

 

What pisses me off the most is this new design language of Ferrari. More angles, less curvature. And why are they mixed everything together like they're some kind of mass produced cookie cutter German automaker? Seriously? I see F12TDF in there. Speciale. 488. Keep those designs unique! Don't share em!

^ Anorher car brand that has decided that making money is the ONLY priority. Just go back not to so long ago where each car brand had a philosophy on how to manufacture their cars.

 

What do we have nowadays? BMW making vans, Mercedes making cars for lower middle class people (But the diesel engines are Renault ), Aston Martin making an expensive Smart and Ferrari making AWD station wagons...

 

What's next? A Rolls Royce $35,000 hot hatch?

 

I honestly don't care about Ferrari I only hope my favorite Italian brand; Alfa Romeo NEVER changes it's way of making cars.

I, for one, welcome our new shooting brake overlord.

 

Seriously though. I don't think it's particularly bad, though the front of the car is definitely a step down from the FF design-wise. In fact the design is generally a step down from the FF.

 

It might be because of the different ways we view cars and car brands, Scaglietti, but I don't think either the FF or or the GTC4 are stupid concepts at all. A two door Ferrari shooting brake/hatchback/wagon/whatever the f*ck, with a monstrous V12 engine and four wheel drive and (IMO) pretty great design? I'm completely sold. I would have one if I could. It's something of a niche car but there's nothing wrong with that.

 

Also, I really don't think you should worry about Ferrari making an SUV or a family sedan anytime soon. The FF/GTC4 is, at its core, still a grand tourer. It's still most definitely a Ferrari, and a great one at that.

I'm gonna be that guy. It looks better than the FF.

 

The front isn't a copypaste from a California anymore and it looks bolder and more aggressive. Those quad tail lights are a bit odd, to be honest. But I guess I'll just wait 'til I see one on the roads. Might look better... or worse.

In case you're unaware, Alfa have been making recycled but mildly prettied up Fiats for the last decade or so.

It's the front-side profile that does it for me. Looking at it from that angle, it could not be any more awkward looking.

 

I'm sorry, I liked the FF. It was different but it looked good. This GTC4 looks like a render. That's what I thought it was at first. Ferrari is going downhill imo. The 488, the weird looking F12TDF, and now this.

The GTC4 looks better in my opinion. I never liked the design of the FF and to me, they fixed it on the second go around.

 

The real test of whether or not Ferrari is on the right track will be a few years from now. They've recently become independent and when the fruits of that effort ripen, we'll have a good idea of how they're managing the brand.

Yeah, the Mito and Giulietta are Alfa's only two mainstream products on sale at the moment. One's a rebodied Dodge Dart and the other is a rebodied Fiat Punto, and neither is exactly good looking. The 4C is expensive, not particularly good, and whilst reasonable nice looking still a bit ungainly. The Giulia looks promising but isn't really out yet.

 

Yes, they've had some great recent products but most of their current lineup is utter dreck.

Honestly, I think the squared edges go better with the shooting brake shape, and I love the rear end. Quad tail lights are one of those things that I can't recall ever disliking on any vehicle.

Ferrari shouldn't be in the wagon business. nobody should be in the wagon business. no car company has ever built an aesthetically pleasing wagon.

I actually find the Xantia Break to rather pleasing. Having been converted to an estate, the car still doesn't look out of its element. It may not be beautiful or exciting. But the Xantia Break wins in my mind for achieving what so few estate cars manages: Not being ugly.
