Were Focus RS even sold in America? I remember sitting inside one of those and it looked pretty f*ckin' cool.

No. We never got any of the Mark 2 Focuses. Instead we got this,

focuscoupe_main_opt.jpg

My mom owns the 4 door version of it. I quite like it, but then again, it's one of 4 cars I've driven. So it's not like I have experience with a lot vehicles like Lurch and Sivis do.

I have to say, i quite like the looks of that Focus. Way better than the Focus "Europa" we had over here a few years ago.

I quite like the wheels. Look a bit like BBS CH-Rs, which IMO are one of the nicest choices for the GT86

IMG_2159.JPG?m=1351624483

They fit perfectly. Suits the GT86/FR-S pretty damn well. BBS always make very good rims.

Some jackass stole the star off the hood of the CLK at the weekend. What a F*cktard. Happy easter!

Wasn't parked out on the street either. Little turd walked 20 yards up my driveway and went into the carport. Some people need a lesson in not screwing with other peoples cars. Wish I had caught him.

They used to steal them from my dads Mercedes' all the time, f*cking c*nts. You can get a new one from a Mercedes dealer tho. 60$ if im not mistaken.

What's an alternative to car? I would like to get something I can tune myself as well

So far I've come across an "r1 go kart", is there anything better?

This is mainly so I can get around until I get a car, and as a hobby

Actually scratch that. I'm gonna to the local junkyard and see if I could build a car instead.

Just until I can save for my own car

I find that a bad idea. I'd go for a cheap car, first. You're not getting a dream car as your own first car. You can turn it into a dream car, but you won't buy it as such.

As someone who has smoked a sh*t-ton of weed, my suggestion for you is to smoke less weed.

But until then how am I supposed to get to my classes or my job , if I live the country and there's no transit, Mom won't let me get something like an electric bike or go kart, and my parents aren't willing to hire a personal taxi driver?

A car that costs 500 bucks is still safer than any car you are going to "build"

First: which country? Second: what is your budget?

Building yourself a car, depending on the country, can be borderline illegal. You could get a moped or a bicycle. I think the process of "building" a car won't be time or cost effective.

If you're good at mechanics and can find cheap parts, then you can go on a shopping-spree on your nearest junkyard for parts, a good body and a good chassis. Even though I dream of doing something like this, I doubt it'd be good for your case.

So your mom won't let you get any sort of transportation (if you see a go-kart as transportation, smoke less weed) but you have a job and classes you need to get to?

And your mom pretty much just says "F*ck your job and your classes, you ain't goin' anywhere"?

How far away from said classes and job are you?

She works from home and her schedule won't allow her to take me to places. Unless I feel like being dropped off early.( which im really tired of doing, but maybe I'll have to just stick it out longer.

I mean the college is 7 miles away, and the jobs , are like 10 miles away.

Maybe I'll just have to bike there. I can bike to the college, but I'm not sure if I could take a bike over the interstate on the way to jobs.

Look for an alternate route to bypass the interstate, I've had to do that plenty of times, it may take you a bit further out of the way, but it's worth it to not die on the interstate.

Biking can be tough, but you'll be the better man for it, plus it's healthy, and once you don't have to ride the bike, when you have the ability to buy your own car, it will be that much sweeter.

You can do it man, just pace yourself, leave a bit earlier and take your time, it's not worth it to wear yourself out before you even get to work.

Listen to some tunes, it will make the ride seem so much shorter, and may even subconsciously motivate you to ride faster without even noticing.

hey whatever happened to the "airless tire??"
anybody else remember that tire of the future business?

I guess if it works the military is probably going to use it first. I haven't noticed it on any Hummers though...

i dont think they would ba as effective in the military as solid tyres. sure they would be a more comfortable ride but but i think bullets or a blast would completly ruin them a lot easier.

I see them fairly regularly on heavy equipment around here, usually small diggers and bulldozers.

There's an armory down the street where they hold a lot of Humvees, a few of them run airless tires, I think Michelin?

Those things are f*cking loud at speed, I hear them coming down my street like a swarm of angry armored bees.

One thing that puts them above solid tires is their flexibility, the crawl over sh*t a lot better than solids or run-flats.

The exposed webbing is really ugly. Also cannot be used with regular wheels. It looks like the tire is one solid piece, and a metal plate is used to bolt the tire to the hub (I'm guessing there's a similar plate attached to the rear of the tire to sandwich the tire into place).

The problem with Tweel(that's seriously the name of them) is that they suck for on road use. They also create a f*ck ton of noise. And yeah Michelin is working on them, for commercial and industrial use.(cause they haven't fixed the problems with them for consumers)

It's basically a first gen with a body swap and an interior update. Handles ok but its nothing special. Its hella slow but there's other cars with worse acceleration than this

Funny thing is that it can reach (or almost reach) its top governed speed in 3rd gear.

I really wanted the wing on mine to for some extra downforce (the rear loves to shake 100mph plus) but we didnt get the "sport" package; and i use sport lightly.

I did see a Euro Focus RS last week in green. Looked nas

I still prefer the look of the MK1 Focus, and the amount I see for sale that come pre-tuned over 300HP more than enough compensates for the stock output. Perhaps my favourite Hot Hatch of all time- aggressive but still sleek.

There are quite a few different companies working on airless tires, and with many different designs as well, I think there could be some promise to some of the designs, they just need to find the last piece to the puzzle.

yeah I can see how they would be loud as f/ck.

it's a curious design.

I just wonder how they will apply to everyday road tires.

most of the experimentation I've seen so far is in the form of off-road rigs and military vehicles.

[snip]

The First Gen hatch looks nice. That is my second favourite Focus with the first being the 09 RS

Rant

I really want to make my '10 Focus better by:

Adding some goddam downforce to the rear

swapping the hella bad drum brakes on for some First gen SVT Focus calipers. The car stops like poo as is (comparing it to modern vehicles)

Adding some more SVT Focus performance parts Since the 2nd american Gen focus is built on the 1st gen platform; so it shouldnt be too much of a hassle (theoretically)

If it ends up costing too much or being too much of a pain, I should just get a better car (way in the future)

/rant over
