How can the engine overheating leave a crack? That engine would have to have been a) pretty badly made, b) already seriously damaged or c) that was some serious overheating.

Well, considering it took two 1.5 liter bottles of water to fill the radiator back up, probably some serious overheating. It didn't help that the temperature gauge wasn't working.

I am not impressed. I have a leak in my water pump (it needs to be replaced) in my DS. So far it has never overheated, but it does require fill ups quite frequently. Last time it needed 3.5 litres of cooling fluid to fill up again. I don't know what your cooling system is doing, but it clearly isn't working. Is your cooler running? That usually use the same system as the cooling system for engine, so it can be recommended to always have the cooler/heater running to ensure your engine is being cooled down.

But a miserable 1.5 litres makes me think the leak began before the overheating. And that your cooling system need some tuning. Ridiculous to think that a 41 year old cooling system is better than yours.

That's pretty badass. I like that a lot. I wonder how many people will get it.

I'm hoping since GTA is a pretty popular game that more people will get the dinka sticker than the planetside 2 stickers :p

I've had multiple people comment on my vocaloid stickers, though

Not a fan of the other stickers, but I like the GTA branding.

Not the worst anime stickers I've seen placed on a car.

Considering the norm for anime car stickers, those are pretty tame and also tolerable.

Aww, thanks! Always nice to know that one isn't the worst at things :>

Car hunt isnt going well:

Went to look at this today. A couple of neds drove off in it as I pulled into the lot.

E39 5- Series/ 2.5 Full leather. ect. Interesting paint job. I didn't like it when i first looked at it but the car ticked all the boxes elsewhere... Clean, FSH, well optioned, AC/cruise ect, decent rims. Even came with a warranty.

I wouldn't worry about warranty, only ones that cover wear and tear are worth anything (and given they cost around £500+ a year I'd be surprised if one was ever included with a car).

Regular used car dealer warranties are such a nightmare to claim on (plus if you read the big list of parts they cover, they carefully avoid covering anything that will actually break). A mechanic I know was working on a broken brake caliper (as opposed to a worn/seized one which would not be covered), the warranty company demanded he send them a photo, then once he did that they still insisted on sending an inspector over to the garage, of course the car was out of action for days while all of this nonsense went on.

Yeah a warranty is not a deal-breaker for me, but its good to have a bit of comeback on major part failures, in addition to the "not-fit-for-purpose" argument.

Don't know if i'm picking up a MB 190 or W202 next weekend for a grand. It's being facilitated through my roommate who's friend has it not being used at the moment. All i know is that it's a 4-door and made in 93 in Hunter Green. If it's in decent condition i'll pick it up. Otherwise i'm going to keep looking for saving.

It wasn't 1.5 litres. It was two 1.5 litre bottles of water. About three litres in total. Anyway, the crack is at the top of the radiator next to the filler cap and we have come to the conclusion that it's been like that for a little while now as there is a large brown splatter stain on the bonnet of the same colour as the water coming out.

The fans are working, as there is no steam coming out when the car is moving but when it stops, it's just like being in one of those cheap car challenges on Top Gear. We've tried to check the coolant but the bottle is tucked away in front of the battery in the front right corner of the engine bay and it's fairly difficult to actually get to let alone measure.

Honda Civic muffler delete...

You could get a decent exhaust system to make it sound like that and consequently get small performance gains from it aswell.

A worthy muffler delete would be something along these lines:

Where driving fast probably isn't as much as a concern.

I kinda want to do a muffler removal on my car but realized it'd be dumb if I did.

Yes! I passed my bus driving exam today. I can now drive vehicles with more than 8 passengers and longer than 12 metres. I felt good passing, considering how incredibly nervous I was.

May I ask why you decided to get it? You planning on becoming a bus driver or something?

Well... I joked with a colleague about a year ago about getting a bus licence. Then I decided to challenge myself and get it. Then I thought, 'hmm... all those blank spots on my driving licence, they are just begging to be filled in'.

In effect, I decided to challenge myself. And in some ways, I believe I have become a better driver.

What does a muffler removal do, exactly? Besides affecting how the car sounds.

Depends on what you mean.

Just cutting the muffler off is different than say, replacing it with something else.

Also, do you mean just the muffler or the cat too?

I was going to remove the muffler and replace the catalytic converter with a straight pipe. (If that makes sense.)

You should run some sort of exhaust to keep the back pressure, otherwise you'll put unnecessary stress on your valves and sh*t.

What kind of car anyway?

Where do you live? You know straight pipes will probably make your car not only loud, but also illegal.

I guess what I'm trying to ask is, what are you trying to accomplish?

Alright.

2011 Nissan Versa Hatchback.

I live in Colorado, U.S.A.

I just want to give a little extra power to my car, is all. I thought removing the muffler and replacing the catalytic converter with a straight pipe would increase the horsepower by a little.

It will, but the longer you run the straight pipes, the worse off you are, especially on something like that your engine won't like it.

I'd suggest a better-flowing exhaust to save yourself future trouble, and I don't think driving with no cats is legal where you are, but I don't know for sure.

Yeah you would probably do more harm than good running straight pipes on a '11 Nissan Versa. Get a decent backbox and a K&N filter, it might free up a few horses and make it sound better. Less work in the long run and shouldn't cost too much. It will give you what you want.

Looked at another car today. '95 E320. 231hp. Really had high hopes for it. I would love to get another w124 benz. this one just hadnt been looked after. Pretty disappointed. It was not as good as described... 2 hours out and 2 hours back. Bit of a wasted journey.

Lights in roundabouts? Doesn't that defeat the purpose and efficiency of a roundabout?

Yes. In the UK in cities its not unusual to feature lights on multi lane roundabouts feeding on to or of of major roads. Sometime they have flash cameras that catch naughty boys that don't stop, then they send them nasty letters in the mail.

They're quite prevalent in the Midlands, the traffic lights are mainly to stop people hogging the roundabout. I think the roundabout element helps where a lot of people are making right turns, which are usually quite tedious with traffic lights alone.

On the subject of round abouts, Anyone think of any good reason why its illegal to do a U turn on a roundabout?

Going back down the road you entered the roundabout from is Illegal, At least in Canada, For some reason.
