How is the Lexus is300?

Pretty slow, especially in auto form. Very thirsty. I still quite like them though.

Well the Camorra has money to do what ever they feel like

But a 300+bhp Uno is deeply impractical and largely pointless. The article suggests it's a car actively used in criminal activity, but I see no way that such high performance would benefit it given that an alternative based on a more...suitable vehicle would be more effective for any given purpose, more discrete and superior in every way. Based on the video it looks like it has 16v Fiat Coupé running gear in it.

I also doubt this car can make it to 300km/h but i think it could go close. The answer to the speculation is putting the car in the dyno.

That's really not how dynos work. You can't simulate air resistance on a dyno. Well, you can, but it's very expensive. That's the greatest factor affecting top speed.

The Camorra can do pointless expensive things like spending money modifying a 300bhp UNO and using it only for donuts and spins in Scampia, suburbs of Naples.

Guys, I want to learn more about the car's inner guts, like mechanically/electrically speaking. Do you have anything to recommend me to read/see about this? I may be a car guy, but I'm mostly clueless when it comes to the mechanical bits.

I'm the same way, if you want to learn more about mechanical working of cars, I think the best way to do that is to just read random things online and accept info. from members. If I read a book about it continuously, I wouldn't be able to remember everything.

Use personal experiences, also. I'm starting to get a better clue at it by watching Top Gear, reading Sivispacem's posts, and checking Bimmerpost.com from time to time.

On a side note, has anyone heard of that Audi Prologue Avant? It looks a lot like the Dodge Magnum SRT8, but flatter.

Dunno. Maybe people in the US dont really see fwd as a viable performance platform?

Got that right :p

Only decent performance FWD we have is the Focus ST

We got that Kia Soul which is fwd. It's alright in the snow, but from common sense, I would expect it to spin if it went hard on its brakes.

I'm 100% sure you mean the Koup and not this

2014_Kia_Soul_Plus_US_front_left.jpg

I did a Google search before and it said the 2011 Soul was FWD, so I thought that all of them were.

I believe they all may very well be FWD's only. I doubt they tried anything else on it. Could be incorrect though, so I apologize

Don't like the front bumper but otherwise nice.

Still prefer the original though.

Dont like the new R8 at all. Looks like a fake replica of the original one.

Agreed- I could easily imagine it being rebadged by some Chinese company in the same way the Range Rover was, plus I feel like the front end has too much of the new Audi TT in it.

How is the Lexus is300?

I quite like these too and I don't see why the similar IS200 (even without the 2JZ) aren't popular in the drift circuit in the UK thanks to the surplus numbers of sub-£1000 manuals available practically everywhere you go, and as someone who'd want to own a Stagea one day the Sportcross is a very appealing (albeit rare) choice to me aswell.

In addition even with money, the chances of finding a decent R154 gearbox from a Supra to convert the IS300 to a manual would empty your pockets in no time, better off finding tuning options for an IS200 imo.

So, a manufacturer I've never heard of is back.... Jensen is returning with the GT.

It looks nice IMO, old school muscle it looks like but it's got modern lines, like the headlights apparently made to resemble the Jaguar F-Type.

Because, in the sub-£1k base drift car stakes, they're much less agile, slower, and far more expensive to modify than the default cheap-as-chips drift car at the moment, which seems to be the E36 3-series.

Love the look of the R8. Looks even angrier and sharper.

The exact words of the judges from the one-season show 'Motor City Masters' about the R8 would be "I love the look of it. The lines resemble a subtle look in the back, and an aggressive and mean look in the front while giving the aerodynamic style to the side." and then somebody would make a remark to Jean Jennings' hat choice.

The video says it was used for street racing, which would be consistent with the seized Citroen and Audi engines (no pun intended). The article is just creative writing with an embedded Il Messaggero video...though that's not to say mainstream newspapers are famed for their accuracy either.

I was looking up info on the Toyota Comfort/Crown, which I know is a major taxi seen in Asian markets. I then saw there was apparently a special version released one year in limited quantity, called the GT-Z Supercharger.

Y'know, today I got up and wondered- "What would the engine of a beaten-up Rover look like if I removed the Cylinder head @ 10,000RPM and put it into gear at 40mph?"

The new R8 looks great, but the front is just copy and paste from a TT.

Is anyone in here familiar with the Alfa Romeo 916 (GTV) (Fiat Tipo 2 platform)?

Seriously though, any word on these cars? I have pretty much decided to purchase a GTV because

  1. Dat ass:

    97_250483265_xl.jpg

  2. Not that expensive
  3. Galvanized steel and lots of plastics = handles Norway well, presumably
  4. FWD - I'm most familiar and comfortable with FWD
  5. It's an Alfa Romeo

But if there is anything catastrophically wrong with these cars, I'd love to hear it.

Can't tell you anything about the GTV but I would just like to let you know that you have my full support. Get rid of that bloody Fiat!

Hey now, the Fiat is more than alright! Gets me places with no trouble ever, and gets decent fuel economy. I must confess that the acquisition of it and the sale of the Saab have been a fatal blow for my interest in cars, something which I am hoping to rekindle with an Alfa.

My plan may sound short-sighted, but in the long run, I doubt I'll regret it. I'm going to apply for yet another scholarship (I'm assuming I get 2 grand a year once again) and will take up a big-ass student loan (with no interest!) so I can pay back the 4k I already owe privately(to my mother...) and use the leftovers to get a GTV if possible.

Like my friend Siri said when she presented the idea:

"Don't you want to be young while you can? Would you rather have no debt at 30 but also have missed out on everything you wanted as a young man?"

Do you reckon it is stupid to have it as a primary car? I fear that it may be too small.

Guys. I need help on a difficult decision. As car people you will understand.

This year is the 60th anniversary of the Citroën DS. One of which I own and love very dearly. As you can imagine with such a number, there will be some celebrations to commemorate this occasion. In particular, an event called Le Monde de la DS will take place on 23-24 May. This will include a track day, dinner, a parade and brunch.

This sounded exciting. But something bothered me. On the website, the logo for the new range of Citroën "DS" cars appear at the bottom, and is one of the links on their link page. Following to the new "DS" website, it contains a section about heritage, which pretends to be the actual Citroën DS.

But the new range of "DS"s don't have hydropnematic suspension, they are not anything like a DS! The two most remarkable things about the DS was its suspension and its looks, if you don't include either of those, you cannot call it a DS. And the new "DS"s have neither.

Don't get me wrong, the new "DS"s are nice cars, but the fact that they called them "DS" bothers me. It's close to pissing on their heritage. The C6 was an actual honest attempt to rekindle the CX and DS of old.

In fact, by this time next year, PSA Peugeot Citroën will stop using hydropnematic suspension at all. Then why the f*ck by a Citroën? I'd rather have a Peugeot or better yet, a Renault. What made a Citroën something special was its suspension.

But this brings me back to my decision and my dilemma. The event in Paris takes place in May. That's odd considering the unveiling of the DS in 1955 was in October and the 50th anniversary celebration was in October 2005. Why the change of dates? And why is there website filled with "DS" logos? Is this a scheme by PSA Peugeot Citroën to somehow link the new mediocre "DS" cars with what could quite possibly be the greatest car of all time?

It's like Ferrari releasing a new GTO, when it isn't a GTO. Stop it!

And herein likes my problem. In a sense, I want to boycott attempts to misrepresent history, particularly in the case of the DS. It's poor style by Citroën to simply think they can call something that. Like calling your Golf Concorde. It's not really the same, you are just abusing the legacy of something far greater.

But on the other hand, the event does sound like fun and there will definitely be a few DS's.

However, even if I don't attend, I will be attending a 60th DS event here in Copenhagen in September. Which I look forward to very much, and that is not arranged by Citroën Danmark at all, although they are sponsoring it.

I just worry this event in Paris will be an excuse to reveal some new "DS" and make it all OK.

So, people of GTAF's Vehicles forum, what do I do? Do I go or do I stay?
